One of the essays, "What the Church Means to People Like Me," has been an invaluable source of insight and reassurance to me. This is the original source of the metaphor characterizing some Latter-day Saints as Iron Rods and other as Liahonas, with both approaches seen as credible and legitimate. The other essays are strong, too, but of lesser personal interest.

Essays on Mormonism and the craft of history. I found it enjoyable and insightful.
