I love taking pictures. Most people do. Well..mostly selfies to embarrass my children with.
Example in point: My hubby and I doing the duckface for Facebook. Yes, We are those parents.

I even have one of those expensive cameras..that I have really no clue on how to use. Those settings? Yeah, I just ignore those and use the "auto" option.
So I thought this book might help with that. It really doesn't but I still really enjoyed it.
The book give some really great examples on how to set up shots. Like

A bit basic if you’re not a complete beginner but still valuable and always good to review tips, study others’ ideas, and get inspired to improve.

"Your Family in Pictures" is a great book for those who tend to leave their camera settings on auto because they don’t have much time to play around with adjusting their camera settings all the time trying to figure out what works, or are not sure what settings they need to set their camera to in order to get the results they want in their photos. I will admit it. I bought a DSLR camera and I almost always leave it in auto mode. After buying it, I had planned on studying more about photography s ...more

Forty Recipes for Gorgeous Family Photos

(Full disclosure: I received a free copy of this book for review through the Blogging for Books program.)

Me Ra Koh found solace in photography. After miscarrying her second child, Aidan - during the tail end of a two-year tour to promote her debut book, Beauty Restored: Finding Life and Hope After Date Rape, no less - Koh fell into a deep depression from which photography became her lifeline out.

In the twelve years since, she's started a wedding photograp

I love photography. I love how pictures tell stories and how with just one glimpse they can transport you to another place and time. With Baby G on the way, I’m spending more time thinking about photography. I would love maternity and newborn pictures, but they are just so expensive and out of reach for us right now. When I heard about Me Ra Koh’s new book Your Family in Pictures I knew it was a book I had to read! If I can’t get the pictures taken, maybe I can learn to take them myself.

Your Family in Pictures is the follow up book to Me Ra Koh's previous photography titles: Your Baby in Pictures and Your Child in Pictures. I would love to say that this title follows the style of her previous titles, but at this point, I have not read her earlier books. I assume that her recipes and giving spirit present in this book are also in her other books. I am very interested in finding her other books after reading Your Family in Pictures.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review from Blogging for books. I am a pretty avid photographer, but I mainly focus on wildlife and local landscapes. I wanted to learn more about photographing people, so I thought I'd give Me Ra Koh's book a try. I liked how the book is set up - with the first section giving you ideas for lighting, how to get your family in the mood, and how black and white can enhance a so-so picture. The second section is "developing a photographer's e ...more

I love preserving our families memories through pictures. I'm just a mom though. I don't have a fancy camera or special talent when it comes to photography. I'm just average and guess what! This book is awesome for people just like me!!

Your Family in Pictures is written by Me Ra Koh. Her work and photo recipes have been featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show, The New York Times and Parenting Magazine just to name a few. This is the third book in a series and even though it is the first one I have r

Pictures are such an important part of our memories. Every family wants pictures to capture the important occasions and the everyday parts of life. The author is a well known photographer who has shared her experience and expertise in this easy to read and comprehend book.

I'm a novice at photography, but want to get better. The author approached this book as a friend showing me tips and tricks. The photography is, naturally, gorgeous. The instructions were practical and easy to implement. She c

This book arrived today and I've already finished it. While I don't have a family of my own, I do take a lot of picture for other people and wanted to become a professional one day. This book has a ton of "recipes" for making the perfect shots that don't make things look staged.

I have already tried out the suggestions on my cat and the pictures are so much better than what I was doing. I didn't know what all of the settings on my camera were until reading this books. Me Ra Koh explains everythi

I really liked this book for the reason that MeRa Koh's passion. for documenting your family's life through photos is my same driving force for photography. I love her vision and she gives you great ideas for pictures without going through much technical jargon.
