I've always dreaded reading Romanian authors' books, but this one deserves to have a label of its own. It's easy to read even if it treats such controversial subjects. ...more

English version: One of the best books I've read in 2013 was Cimitirul by Telespan. It was everything I had hoped for and everything I needed to combat the holiday blues. Its witty and self-deprecating humor make it easy and fast to read and prefect for whichever state you are in: pondering the greater questions in life, looking for a quick laugh or a bit of smut reading or just for a series of unfortunate but hilarious events to take your mind off the mediocrity of your own life. Also kudos for ...more

EN: This is the first book i do not actually read. This is

After reading the first few pages, I thought I'd love it. But after the first 100 pages or so, I realized the whole book was just dragging on in the same way, without anything novel. By the end, it had gotten really boring. It could've been a really good short story. ...more

Very funny. It’s pornish with some disgusted scenes, but it’s good to read.

This is the first fiction book I have managed to finish in more than 12 years. I don't know already if Cimitirul (The Graveyard) would end my breakup with literature, but it definitely was a very captivating, flowing, friendly and introspecting reading. It costed me one sleepless night, many smokes and a few glasses, but it's been worth it. Willingly or not, the author touches various points of introspection and debate common to many Europeans: the stranger's existential condition, an immigrant' ...more

As long as obscenity (in both language and homosexual acts) doesn`t get your panties tied up in a knot, you can`t help but love the main character and his adventures, and be totally blown away over how nothing is sugar coated or embellished. It was the most entertaining story I have read in a very long time and I felt uncharacteristically sad to have finished it.
It is far from being a masterpiece and I`m not sure if in 5 or 10 years people will remember, much less quote it. But it`s the most ge

It's hard to try to capture this book in words without having mixed feelings, such an undemanding book with no ambition of telling you that somebody has the world or life figured out. Read it once, be baffled by the explicit language, run along through different feelings from disgust to empathy, and a character that is so blatantly honest with himself, that you might end up taking yourself not so seriously. And then, after you've finished reading the last page, read it once again, and maybe, jus ...more

First time I got a scent of this novel was on Facebook. There was this incredible funny Facebook page where small fragments from the book were published. I didn’t know this was a book at that time, but I remember my boyfriend telling me: “if this person starts writing a book, it will be a hit!” And here we are, the book and I, all alone for a couple of pages every night and every morning, not more than 10, because I don’t want to finish it. I need to laugh for more than two days.

I was looking for an easy book to read in Romanian, and I found it with Telespan's Cimitirul.
It was easy going and fun, with a few more serious bits thrown in between.
Adrian was a relatable character, especially when it came to his propensity to dream about things that would never come to pass.
His discussions on different topics in life like fear and love and death were sometimes interesting, and sometimes patronising and self-indulgent. I loved the ending and I found Leonard's wisdom to be on

Maybe the best book I've read it in 2013. This was a easy and very enjoyable read that I had trouble putting down.
The writing is sublime, the story is compelling and I really liked the first person point of view. It gave me an insight into Adrian's mind.

One of the best books I've read lately! Is not Tolstoi or Rushdie, but is definitely a book ment to be read. Extremely funny. Cimitirul is the only Romanian contemporary book that I could read in only two days and the only contemporary Romanian book that felt like a good movie. LOVED IT! ...more

A urmat o perioadă destul de necla ...more
