When asked by the author to read and honestly review this novel, I did so with as little trepidation. I knew nothing of the man, his style, or even his capabilities. Having come through the journey, I am satisfied Mitchell knows how to captivate an audience with his prose and forces the reader to think, rather than permit mental neutrality. Eric is a recent university graduate in economics and philosophy, content with his studies, but unsure what his next step might be. Having developed a system ...more

I actually stayed up all night to finish this book! (I paid for it in the morning when the kids were up, but it was so worth it!) I have to say it was so refreshing to read a book written by a male author and written in the male perspective. As a reader I don't find many good romantic stories out there by men. One of my favorite things throughout the book were the references to the elusive "man code", if only we women got a copy of said code. The other hilarious part was the horseback riding. I ...more

The Reincarnation of Annie Brown:

This is a good story by W. Scott Mitchell about Eric a young man that came up with a way to predict the bond market and is able to make money off the bond market. However, because of his ability to make better predictions than Dr. Whitehurst and his colleagues it causes a major problem. This problem causes the plot to twist and turn. This story has a conspiracy theory, some sensual aspects, Philosophy, economics and there are a lot of sinister plots against Eric.

This is a complex book that takes on so many subjects ... conspiracy, philosophy, growing up, love, relationships, politics, and economics.

It is much more an unpacking of complex romantic life than it is a thriller, but the beginning catches your attention with the conspiracy to control the world - quite literally.

The book is written in high language that helps to frame the intelligence expected of the reader and help the reader appreciate the intelligence of the characters.

I will admit to being

This is a well written novel that takes an introspective look into not only the characters, but into the interesting and compelling subject of life after life. The author has an interesting writing style that will have readers paying careful attention and hungrily devouring the pages of this novel. What a great way to get lost in the chapters as you fall into the story.

W. Scott Mitchell came of age during the cultural revolution and movements that dominated the 1960's. It was not until the late 1990's when he began to write fiction. He incorporates an aspect of philosophy and psychology into each of his novels. The subplots are discussed on his website for readers to consider as they review his works. He believes the subplot is the most important part of the wor ...more
