The Takeover
Tor Omar James, King of the North African pride, needs one woman if he has any hope of keeping his sanity – Anise, his Soul’s Mate. There’s only one problem: she’s pregnant by Derrick, Tor of the United States pride. Anise is caught between the love that every Lycan covets and the motherly devotion to the son she would sacrifice so much for. Can Omar survive th

Omar and Anise are Soul Mates, the only thing wrong here is that Anise is pregnant and living with another Tor, Derrick (Tor means a leader of a pride in a certain region). When Omar finds out that Derrick

Heart of a Rocky, another amazing read from Kelsey Jordan.
Just like the first book, The Lycan Hunter, this book also rocked my world.
The characters of this book are great.
The main characters from The Lycan Huter are still here but the main focuses of the book are the other characters from the first book.

The characters, Anise, Omar, Tyson and Harmony are great.
These characters are interesting and each of them has this personality

I received this ebook for free from Booktrope Publishing, but in no way did it affect my literary taste buds. This critique is my honest opinion.

This review is for the second book in the Gardinian World series, and may have minor spoilers for those who haven't yet read The Lycan Hunter.

The first thing to know about this book is instead of a full-length book or a single novella, this is actually two novellas with two separate storylines and couples. Generally I go for entire books inst
One Book, two novellas packed inside! Kelsey Jordan gives us two stories in one in her latest entry into the paranormal genre, Heart of a Rocky. Thankfully, she has NOT skimped on imagination, romance or suspense!

Welcome back to the Gardinian World. Novella one, THE TAKEOVER, puts Omar under the spotlight as he sees his soul’s mate in Anise, a woman abused by the leader of the U.S. pack, pregnant with his offspring and terrified of trusting anyone to treat her and her child better. How can Omar

This book continued the story of Omar and Anise, that was briefly touched on towards the end of the previous novel (The Lycan Hunter) in the series in addition to introducing the mysterious, brooding and seriously bada$$ Tyson, his love interest Harmony and one of my new favorite characters, Trent. Lykil, Torin and Ronin also made appearances, more so in the second novella than the first, however they were on hand to snuggle babies and readily provide pithy comments and comedic smack-downs.

Tor Omar has two very tough missions – survive the take over of the US pride and convince his Soul’s Mate, Anise that he is more man than lion. Asim Tyson is forced to make a choice – resist the lure of Harmony’s caustic melody or embrace his weakness in order to keep her safe. Neither Lycan has a easy road ahead for them in this riveting paranormal romance.

Fast paced and smooth flowing plots keeps readers shivering in anticipation with suspense, excitement and passion. The reader can’t help but

Fabulous follow-up to "The Lycan Hunter". (Although this could be read as a stand-alone, strong suggestions to read the first in the series to have a greater understanding of the characters and general background familiarity.) Strong action sequences as well as tortured virtues and ideals culminate in a wonderful story. Makes one believe there is hope for us all.
The Takeover
Derrick, Tor of the U.S. Alesar (ruler of lion shifters) is feared by his pride, barely tolerated by his peers and despised by Anise, his abused royal breeder, currently pregnant with Tor's child. Anise endures, reminding herself she is a Rocky (elite lycan warrior) and she will have influence through her child.

It was well known Anise and Derrick were betrothed as children by their parents. It wasn't well received when Derrick moved Anise to a lower position after his pa

Forever War…part two

Like the first book in this series, I was given it for free in exchange for an honest review. I have to say, I have mixed feelings. While I did enjoy it, it was more like two mini books instead of one novel and it’s hard to say it’s one book. I apologize in advance if my below review is a bit confusing, I hate giving out spoilers, lol. You will have to read the book, after reading my review of course, to understand it better.

The first half of this book begins with some of th

I was provided with a digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This novel took me by surprise - with two tales wonderfully told in one breath. The stories look entirely different and unrelated to begin with and they've been presented beautifully. The characters are weaved in and out remarkably well and the overall reading experience is smooth and delightful. Kudos to the author for choosing this style, and handling it well! In the first story, "The Takeover", we come across Oma

This second instalment of "A Guardinian World Novel" comprises of two novellas. The Takeover and The Defender.

The Takeover

Omar, the King of the North African Pride was introduced in The Lycan Hunter.

Anise is his Soul Mate but as it so happens she is pregnant with someone else's child. Omar plans a Takeover to claim Anise as his mate.

Derrick is currently leading this pride and his treatment of Anise leaves a lot to be desired. He has his own agenda and he doesn't appear to care about anyone el

This book is actually two novellas. I am actually not a huge fan of novellas but having two together made it more interesting for me and honestly, I think I would have still enjoyed it because Kelsey Jordan is able

Hmm ... I could have sworn I already did this but apparently GR gremlins ate it? No matter ...

This book is the second installment of Kelsey's Guardian World series and it did not disappoint. It consisted of two somewhat related stories as far as characters but different times and circumstances. Even my goldfish brain was able to keep up without going back and rereading The Lycan Hunter ... though that isn't a bad thing at all. I really enjoyed visiting this world again, and I look forward to mor

This book is a little different in that it contains 2 novellas. The first one is called “The Takeover.” We met Tor Omar in “The Lycan Hunter” and he is back in the United States to claim his mate, Anise, who not only is with another man but is having his child. The father’s child, Derrick, is a mean and uncaring Lycan and will not give up his child easily. Anise is worried about the life of her son. It has been tradition for the Soul’s Mate to kill the child his mate is carrying by another. Will ...more

As Heart of a Rocky is actually two novellas I've decided to review them separately rather than reviewing the book as a whole. The first story is The Takeover, which reintroduces previous readers to Anise and Omar, two characters we briefly met in The Lycan Hunter.

Omar and Anise are soul mates, and therefore destined to be together, however, Anise is already in a... 'relationship' with Derrick, Tor (King) of the US pride. Ye

this was an incredible book I love Kelsey's writing! I was intrigued by Omar and Anise's story in the previous book and I was very pleased how it played out in this one. Kelsey has a flare for dramatic females and males who complement them

the other half of the story I found myself captivated by as well. I didn't expected a change in the books dynamic halfway through and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't

This book is actually two novellas, so I’ll talk about each of these separately, though my rating is for the overall book. I will say that they can NOT be read as a standalone without feeling pretty lost.

The Takeover: This story was actually sweet, and very emotional. The bad guys are easy to hate and Omar is everything you’d want from a hero. The most surprising thing to me is that there are no love scenes despite the romance. That does not, however, take any of the heat or enjoyment out of the

In case it’s not clear, this is 2 stories in one volume. And, for the avoidance of doubt, you will find it useful to read previous books from this series before getting to this one, due to the intricacies of the world created by the author.

Now, that’s not to say that you won’t be able to enjoy this story without having done so (like me), but you may find that your reading pleasure is enhanced by doing so.

And so, on to the stories themselves. I found the feeling of the two tales to be very differ
I really enjoy Jordan's Gardinian World. It's so different and I find the time jumps pretty cool. Mainly because I like to see characters grow up ... without having to wait years to do so.
I loved Omar story ... and Tyson's even though he was a bit of a buttface at first.
Her world is complicated, but still facinating to read. I love her imagination and amount of work she put into creating this world.

Kelsey Jordan is the author of the Gardinian World Novels. She is a collector of back packs, pens, and an unseemly amount of paper. When she isn’t working on the series, you can usually find her scrawling on something, playing video games, or taking glorious naps.
