I had my whole life mapped out. Perfect guy. Perfect friends. Everything was exactly the way I wanted it.

That was until that night--the one I can’t remember. It’s all my fault, and now the memories are all I have left of him. Of us.

My guilt drowns me until Sam Shea steps back into my life and helps me to the surface. He slowly opens my heart and crawls deep inside before

LISA! LISA! LISA!! OMG!! You always get me so sucked into your stories that I never want them to end!!

We met Rachel and Cory in the previous books but never really delved into them. But they were always an interesting couple based on what we read about them.

Melanie’s 5-REDEEMING Stars Review:

When tragedy strikes, people are always quick to tell those most affected that things happen for a reason and 99.999% of the time the person whose world is crumbling couldn’t even begin to understand how it could possibly be true. In Lisa De Jong’s 3rd book in the Rains series, Living with Regret, she makes a strong statement that the longstanding advice really does hold a lot of truth to it.

We first get a glimpse of Rachel’s character in the first couple of bo

“Choices. We make them every day, but this one…this one is one I’ll live to regret forever.”

This book lives up to its title; it is about a girl that has to learn to live with her regrets, even if they are not her regrets to have. Life throws its curveballs and it is up to the person to either dodge or get hit. Sometimes if you get hit, it hurts, but you get over it and move on, but sometimes moving on is the hardest thing to do.

This was just OK for me. Loved Sam but not so much Rachel. I didn't feel her connection in either of her relationships and at 10% figured out what happened.

“A well-written book is as powerful as a hug at the end of a long day.”

The book starts with Rachel waking up in the hospital. Not remembering what happened to her. Not remembering the last few days. She’s confused, because nobody can’t seem to tell her what happened. What she does find out is that she was in a car accident and her boyfriend, Cory, died. She’s obligated to move on. But it’s hard because she can’t remember what happened.

I have been a Lisa De Jong fan since I read When It Rains, so when I saw she was writing a book with Rachel's story, I was pissing myself with excitement because after reading Changing Forever and hearing about one of the characters kicking the bucket, I was all like WTF... Who, what, where, how... when... WHAAATTT?!?! I was so lost and confused on how this happened...

So when I get this book and finally find out what happened with this character, I was a bit shocked! But I was salivating to figu

Rachel wakes up with very little memory of what happened; she just knows she is in a lot of pain and that she wants Cory. Her last memory is of Cory and studying for finals... how did she go from there to a hospital bed? Finally someone tells her what happened and now all she feels is empty.

Well dang.... I didn't think this book was gonna tear me up as much as it did.
Talk about angst and ripping my heart of my chest then stomping on it!!!
So much was lost and SOOOOO much betrayal.
I think this is my favorite book of the series so far....
Well maybe. I did love When it rains the most.
Rachel... just whoa. I couldn't imagine going through everything she want through with Cory.

Lisa De Jong has a great gift a telling an amazing story that leaves us either on the verge of tears or completing balling like a baby! She did it to me in When It Rains and I was very close to tears in the third book in the series Living With Regret. Even though this is a series, each book is a standalone and in this book, we get visits from Beau and Kate from the first book and I loved getting a little glimpse of them. Living With Regret takes on a journey of unimaginable loss and learning to ...more

Living With Regret by Lisa DeJong is the third book in the Rain Series. Lisa weaves an emotion that is so heartfelt and so completely relatable that the reader can actually feel what the characters are going through as they turn each page. The way in which she is able to turn such a tragic story of loss into one of hope, love and new beginnings has me yearning for more from her. This series is a most read and I will warn you all that each book is a bit of a tear jerker but so completely worth ev ...more

Very good book. I was hesitant to read it because I never want to cry again like I did while I read When it Rains, but this book wasn't nearly the tearjerker the first book was. I was drawn to Sam and Rachel's characters and loved their long standing friendship and how easily they returned to the comfort of one another. As a reader, I sensed the train wreck coming and the build kept me reading, not wanting to put my kindle down. Sam's character was simple. He wasn't rich, didn't drive a fancy ca ...more

A heart breaking yet sweet ending to this series. Even after all she was dealt, Rachel was a kind, strong and very likeable heroine. I loved Kate's involvement through out this story. God, I still get all teary just thinking about When it rains!
The plot twists, hmmm I kind of predicted some. I'm sure it was obvious for others too. They were still all executed in a perfectly acceptable hair pulling-edge of your seat sitting-everyone shut the duck up- kind of way.

This was a quick read. It had its good moments & I really liked the character of Sam who wouldn't love someone like that in your life. My problem was I could see the drama twist a mile away so it made everything extremely predictable. It was hard to enjoy the romance because you knew the fallout would happen & everything would fall apart. It wrapped up nicely I just felt at times Sam deserved better than how he was treated. Oh & the "best friend" there are special places reserved in hell for des ...more

Review by Jen Hagen

One of my favorite ugly cry books (When It Rains) was penned by Ms. DeJong. I am fully aware of how she can rip our hearts out and slowly put them back together, but I was not prepared to feel this from the first page. She didn’t hold back…she pulled out all the stops from the get go. While this is classified as being part of the When It Rain series, it can be read as a standalone. The characters had minor parts in When It Rains. (roommates of Beau’s)

Lisa De Jong does yet AGAIN. Wow, I just… Loved this.

“A life without hope is a life without purpose. I need hope.”

Living with regret is the story of Rachel. We met her at the end of When It Rains and then a bit more in After The Rain. She was living with Beau and her boyfriend, Cory, who meant the world to her. They’ve been together since school and they were forever… Or so she thought. After one fight and one night that turned into a horrible mess, Kate’s life changed and there was no

From the second I read the allusion to what happened to Cory in Changing Forever, Lisa De Jong had me on the hook for Living with Regret and waiting with bated breath to find out what in the world had occurred. Finally getting some answers to all the questions swirling in my head about what and how Cory ended up the way that he did was a real page turner, but the aftermath and the whole truth behind the incident was the real kicker. Living with Regret is obviously a story about dealing with grie ...more

Introduced in the previous books of the series, this is the story of Rachel. Rachel had been with her boyfriend Cory for over four years, in a seemingly perfect relationship. Perfect guy, perfect friends, her whole life mapped out. In one moment, her life crumbles around her, guilt and regret plague her as she struggles to remember and move on.

Everything happens for a reason right? Memories are so valuable after you lose a loved one but what if you couldn't remember 24 hours of your life during which you lost that loved one, believed you were responsible and the cause of death for said person. Is that your brain protecting you from a deeper pain?

Rachel did lose a very important 24 hours. In those 24 hours she had an accident, lost the love of her life Cory, and doesn't rememb

“Sometimes true friends make the best true loves.”

I knew going into this book, that it was going to toy with my emotions, so I was sort of prepared. But yet, not really.

Holy heartache!!! Rachel wakes up, in a hospital bed, with no memory of how she got there. She doesn’t remember the final 24 hours of her “perfect” life before it was turned upside down. The only people that seem to want to help her, without any hidden agendas, are her f
