The revolution must go on. Or rather go into the next swirl since the first one sort of went ugly (like they usually do, no matter what).
Spoiler: Everyone goes a bit mad and one hell of an ass in this one. A lot of courting keeps happening in the most unsuitable to this task places and situations. Quite an interpersonal mess we get to read through.

“Solomon’s sigil was closer than ever and once it was on his finger, Nalia – and every Jinni that ever stepped foot on Earth – would be under his control.”
This was a YA fantasy story featuring jinn.
I actually felt quite sorry for Malek in this story, as it was clear how much he loved Nalia, whilst she had no similar feelings for him at all. Nalia was an okay character but I did wonder how long she could keep the secret about killing Raif’s best friend from him.
The storyline in this ...more

3.5 stars I love many things about this series, but I have to reluctantly admit that this second installment of the trilogy is deeply flawed. I'm totally fine with most things that happen, it's the way they happen--oftentimes, at breakneck speed, without allowing enough time for the emotional beats to resonate--that bother me.
Still, the book's complicated morality is interesting to me, especially as the characters examine their agonizing regrets, even though I don't think the themes were explor ...more

I'm pretty sad to say that Blood Passage was a bit of a disappointment to me. I've been almost waiting two years to read this sequel to Exquisite Captive but I was really frustrated through most of the book, which made me not like it much.
I struggled with rating this book two or three stars. I ended up rating it two because for the bigger part of the book I was really annoyed by the characters and how the story went. I don't know if it's just me or maybe because it's been almost two years since ...more

I had been really looking forward to reading this, and I did enjoy this very much, but it wasn't as good as the first in my opinion. Parts of the book felt very repetitive and certain times the story dragged on, so I felt a bit bored. But it was still great! This is definitely more of a "filler" book but there some good character development (though Nalia still annoyed me a few times, first she says she is empress, than she says she doesn't want to be...UGH). I liked meeting some of the new char

I skimmed through the second half of the book because I was no longer interested in the plot. In all honesty, everything that I liked in the first book was missing and I don't really feel compelled to read the third book when it comes out.

Penned by one of my favorite authors. Blood Passage was a book that I was highly anticipating reading this year. In preparation of the book, I even went ahead and re-read Exquisite Captive, which turned out to be a great idea since I was a little fuzzy on some events. In many ways, Blood Passage was a stronger novel than its predecessor, a sign which indicates just how talented Heather Demetrios is, but I did have one minor person

Heather Demetrios takes readers back into the beautiful world of the Dark Caravan Cycle with Blood Passage, which was inspired by 1001 Arabian Nights. While there were some moments that were a little slow, this book takes readers on quite an exciting journey.

Blood Passage picks up right where Exquisite Captive left off, and I was so thrilled to discover that I loved the second book just as much as I loved the first. I went into Blood Passage with a healthy dose of reality. I’ll admit it, there have been many times where I have been seriously underwhelmed by a second book in series, and I always get a little nervous when I start in on a sequel to a book I love so much. Imagine my excitement when I ended up absolutely loving Blood Passage.

This is a tough one to rate because logically, this book is somewhere between a decent and a strong sequel but my rating is directly due to my personal take on the story's direction.
Despite the action and plot developments, it left me feeling, "now what?" at the conclusion.
I think Malek's POV got me through this book tbh. I'm not ashamed to say he was my favourite character. We learn a lot about Malek in this book; about his battle with faith, conscious and how he's grown to be ...more

I liked the first book very much but suddenly every character is making stupid choices, and weak plot devices appear every two pages. I have a low tolerance for those, so I won't torture myself and I'll abandon this one, hopefully I'll read something better from this author in the future.

BLOOD PASSAGE starts off right after EXQUISITE CAPTIVE ends. I read 20% in and stopped. This read even more like an adult novel and began to be more about the love triangle and romance than about the quest. More dramatic than the first book and not a whole lot going on in the pages I read. Still not to the cave. Still being hunted. Nothing changed. Then there are the issues I have with the wish that I see so many loopholes with that supposedly Nalia, who is powerful and supposedly smart and well

Liked it but it was infuriating to have Malek die. Why? Why did he have to die? And then the question came to me? Why hadn't he died sooner?
Asshole deserved it but he also shouldn't have died in such an honorable way. Love triangles are never great and the army is marching to Arjinna. I wonder what will happen next. Can't wait to read more. ...more

Blood Passage deftly avoids the middle book syndrome by providing a complex, winding journey full of unexpected twists and turns that delivers more action, romance, and world building than its predecessor. The book opens right where Exquisite Captive left off, an almost free Nalia is forced to complete Malek's, her previous owner, last wish which is leading him to the location of Solomon's sigil, an item that will allow its wearer to rule every jinni on Earth. Once she fulfills this wish, Nalia
