I believe in love at first sight... because I am a mother.
Living a complete lie, holding on to a secret that could cost me the most important thing in my life was about to surface. I couldn’t breathe without Maddie. Maddie was my life. The saying about dying for your child is the absolute truth. The other things you would do are comparable to that of death. I know, I did t

What's with all the high ratings? Did I read a different book? This story is messed up on so many levels. Did she seriously fall in love with a guy who raped her, faked pictures of her being an unfit parent, forced her to live with him by blackmail with said pictures, trick her into signing over custody, and to top it all off made her out to be mentally unstable to her family, friends, and even her coworkers? I finished this expecting there to be some redemption, but in the end she simply forget ...more

This is a story of lies, secrets and regrets. Whitley Bradshaw lived on her fathers resort where she herself was raised. She was content in her life with her bratty little girl and small cabin by the river. She never wanted anything more. She could take her little secret to her grave, happy with the choices that she had made, choices that she never dreamed would come back to haunt her later, choices that could cost her more than she was willing to give up. Finally!! Thank you for getting me out of my book funk and giving me a 5 star book!!

This book will play on your emotions, fuck with your head and pull on your heart strings, to say I was all over the place reading this is an understatement!! And that there is why this book gets my 5 stars!!

Sitting there and reading this it felt like all my emotions had been put through the wringer and spat out, times where I was fed up with Whitley and just wanted to shake her, then we have the pleasure of meeti

REVIEW: Jettie Woodruff's All for Maddie is a compelling yet difficult read

I'll be quite honest with you and say this was one of the most difficult books I've read in a long time. Usually I'm drawn in by the characters, I tend to choose books where I'll at least like, if not love, the main characters - and perhaps consider them almost like friends if it's a good series. I can't say that I liked either of the main protagonists of All for Maddie by Jettie Woodruff. Neither Whitley nor Alex were pe

Whew what a crazy ride this story was. Thanks to my good friend Debbie for introducing me to this wildly unpredictable story. Once I started this one, I could not put it down despite all the turbulence in this story.

At times I wanted to throttle Whitley, but I also understood how what happened to her in the past could mess her up and make her act the way she did. After reading a slew of doormat stories, Whitley was a breath of fresh air, absolutely refusing to take any of Alex's shit. There were

Jettie Woodruff is my new favorite author.

I have read 3 books now by Jettie and all 3 have been amazing and amazingly different. Her books are dark, but not in (my) traditional sense of the word. They can almost be classified as books with ethical or moral dilemmas and just when you think the answer to the question: what should she do? Is a simple one, something else

Very difficult read - but I couldn't stop or DNF. While I was not engaged with the characters, I couldn't look away. This book is not for everyone. Triggers abound.

There is quite a bit of WTF, very controlling H, immaturity, what seems like brainwashing leading to Stepford wife/girlfriend (the H controlling behavior), whiplash from character changes, blackmail, deception, cheating, drinking, etc.

I highlighted 2 notes from the book that I made visible, if you need a quick summary.

All for Maddie managed to hold my attention but simply fell flat on delivery. It was more melodrama than the intensely dark angsty read I was expecting. The interesting premise was lost under the story's lack of depth, mediocre writing, and bad editing. With an annoying heroine who was drunk more than she wasn't and an antihero who was more of a mild mannered manipulator, the saving grace for me was 4 year old Maddie. She was sweet, funny, and absolutely adorable - when she wasn't t

Wow. I am a fan but this was not my favorite book from this author. There were a lot of recurring themes from Underestimated, which I loved, but this seemed more like a watered down version.I did not relate on an emotional level with either of the two characters. They both seemed so intent on hurting each other that they ignored the person they hurt the most in this, their child. I could not get behind all the drinking, cheating, etc. Just not the book for me.

Wow, ok let me say that again WOW WOW WOW, what a effing book.

I think I have been on a rollercoaster my heart was racing, I loved it so much, I cannot express to you what I felt while I read this book.

We start with Whitley, she goes to a house party and meets Alex, who proceeds to date rape her, which results in Maddie, Whitley loves her daughter so much even though she was a. Product of rape.

A few years later Alex comes back on the scene and demands parental rights to the daughter he never knew

I'm so happy I got to read an ARC bc I don't think I could have waited another day!

To paraphrase Britney Spears: Oops...Jettie did it again, she played with my heart...

Ok, so if you can't tell, I really, really liked this book.

Twisted goodness? YES! Hot? that's like asking if you need air. Hate and love at the same time? For sure! Clearly making my flustered and rambling? DUH!

THE. MOST. FRUSTRATING. BOOK. EVER! EVER!!!! It made me coo coo for cocoa puffs! How could it ever be possible for them to have a "happily ever after"? Oh! Maybe if "happily ever after" actually meant that one day she turns around and kicks him in the nuts repeatedly until he be dead....Arrrgh
Whew. This book - I don’t even know what to think. Well done, Jettie Woodruff.

This book was picked for me to read in a challenge. Whitley Bradshaw, will do anything to keep her daughter. Whitley Bradshaw was raped when she was 17 by Alex Wesson at a party ( that she wasn't suppose to be at) at his house he slipped something in her drink and she was stupid for not telling anyone about being raped or getting pregnant it was not something that she wanted and she hid it from her family and friends about the father. Fast forward three years later Whitney is in town for her fri ...more

I had the honour of reading this book before its release. Jettie Woodruff kindly gave it to me to read and review honestly.

After reading the blurb on this book I so was looking forward to read it. I've not read a book by this author before and I love discovering new authors out there with a story to tell.

This is about a young girl who got raped, she had a child and called her Maddie, they both lived in a small rural place where she worked for her Father, and also worked part time in a cafe. Hav

I must say as a mother of two young children I REALLY relate to this story. I normally avoid stories with children because I feel like SO many stories don't portray children like they REALLY are. I have a 3 year old and Maddie, for the most part, is three during this story so her actions and reactions I completely understood. Not to mention the whole I WHOLEHEARTEDLY love my child and would give my last breath for them, but I also need a breather from them feeling that we get a few times in this ...more

I think I must be missing something from reading other people's reviews. I completely disagree with most of the reviews.

Essentially this book has the harrowing story line of a young girl, raped at a party who goes on to become pregnant by the rape.
When the man realises he has a daughter he sets legal proceedings in place for full access to the child. There is no way he would get full custody of the child, and what mother would drop off their THREE year old at a strange mans

GOD I HOW DID I READ THIS!? First of all, Alex was a Sociopath but I admired Jettie because she made me feel somewhat bad towards him. Near the end I was rooting for the poor bastard. I honestly hated Whit. She WAS an unfit mother I know that those pictures were fake, but Still. The ones actually doing the parenting to her child in this book were her parents until Alex came along. She loved Maddie, yes. But Maddie annoyed me to no ends too. She was so bratty and spoiled. And Whit was honestly an ...more

Four years ago Whitley’s life was forever changed when she met Alex Wesson. Alex Wesson was a wealthy senior in college and had his family’s prestigious last name. Whitley was looking to the future of finishing her senior year of high school and going to college with her best friend. At that time Whitley was young, naïve and scared to tell the truth for fear nobody would believe her. All of Whitley’s dreams for her future were suddenly changed with the impending arrival of Maddie. Maddi

this book was so great, I couldn't put it down. It centers on Whitley when she was 17. Her and her friend Kylie sneak out from her dad's and go to a party. It is mostly college age students and they lie about their ages and drink and party and have a good time. Well Whitley is approached by Alex who seams to like her and as she get drunk she thinks why not. Alex invited Whitley up stairs when she needs to use the bathroom and he takes her to his room and procedes to hold her drink while she uses ...more

Wow I was totally blown away with this book!!! It was so down to earth, funny and mysterious!! I was kept guessing during the whole time (ask Jettie-lol)
Something happens to Whitley which turns her world in a complete one eighty- which of course is a result of Maddie....

I don't know how to rate this. I can't believe the events that happened in this book. Let alone understand how I finished the damn thing. I'm a glutton for punishment I guess & Jettie Woodruff knows how to write about great douchebags, assholes, psychopaths, & definitely a great anti-hero. I don't know if the "hero" redeemed himself enough at the end for me to say I'd ever love him because I don't. Uh,... Wow.

I'm speechless, conflicted and bothered.

I don't know what to feel or how I feel. My emotions are fighting. Should I be mad? Pissed? or should I forgive him? forget? Move on?

I honestly cant relate to Whitney's maternal side for I am not a mother. But I tried putting myself in her shoes and try to live her story as if it was mine. And god... I'm sure I'm not a masochist because I hated most dark novels (Why most? because I'm conflicted with this one. I'm pretty sure if I don't have a
