A fun story about a girl who offered to share her mud soup to her friend. He doesn't want to eat mud, but doesn't want to hurt her feelings. Is that a worm her sees floating in it? Things get even more mixed up when he sees her working in the garden with her mom and grandmother and their big bucket of mud. A cute story about judging things by appearances.

A fun story for showing the discovery of other cultural traditions. The "mud soup" is actually black bean soup, and the main character's friend has to get over his fear of something different in order to enjoy the soup. A simple recipe is included, which my 8-year-old enjoyed helping me prepare.
