Wow this was an excellent novella and did a really good job of doing a lot in a few words. This is a second chance at love story, where the h/H used to be engaged but haven't seen each other in two years when the heroine fed-up of being set aside for the hero's work broke it off. When I sat down to read Season of Second Chances by Brighton Walsh, I expected to enjoy it. Mostly because I love the author and her words, but also because we’re approaching the holidays, and from the description, it sounded like the perfect book to curl up with.

In Season of Second Chances, you'll meet Claire, who's just trying to get to her family in Colorado for the holidays. Unfortunately for her, an epic snowstorm has hit Chicago and she's stranded in the place where memories of a lost love are everywhere. After discovering she's not going to make it to her family on Christmas Eve, the last person she ever expects to come face to face with is that same man who broke her heart two years before, Logan Dawes. The workaholic overahiever with whom she didn't have the best of breakups.

Once Claire realizes that finding a hotel will be close to impossible, she decides to accept Logan's offer of a place to stay. And it's not long before she begins to realize that the man she lost two years ago has changed. What was once their shared condo is different; it's lived in. Not at all the picture of order it once was. She also begins to see that he's changed, too.

And that maybe she still has a major soft spot for him inside her heart...

And I mean really, who could blame her? Because Logan...sigh. I loved him. I loved them both, really. The chemistry, their dynamic...just everything. Plus, did I mention he's a daddy? To an adorable little girl who he's completely whipped by? Yep. Just the way a man should be. Reading them together had my swoonometer going off the charts.

Second chance romances one of my top five story-lines in contemporary romances, I was looking forward to seeing how Claire and Logan dealt with the issues that separated them previously. How they would be able to forge a future from the remains of their past.

From their first meeting it's clear that the chemistry between the two of them is off the charts high. The sparks practically fly off of each other when Claire ends up at Logan's condo in the middle of a snowstorm that strands her in Chicago Second chance romances one of my top five story-lines in contemporary romances, I was looking forward to seeing how Claire and Logan dealt with the issues that separated them previously. How they would be able to forge a future from the remains of their past.

From their first meeting it's clear that the chemistry between the two of them is off the charts high. The sparks practically fly off of each other when Claire ends up at Logan's condo in the middle of a snowstorm that strands her in Chicago.

I really easily identified with both Claire and Logan - their feelings as they navigated through the feelings they're still dealing with. It felt so incredibly real, so understandable. Claire, hurt and determined not to let herself fall into it again; Logan regretting the decisions he'd made, wishing he could take them back and not lose the best thing that had ever happened to him. And then there were the little things: Claire thinking how much she missed the simple touches, when Logan finally apologizes it touched my heart with how sincere it was - how utterly unstoppable. This was doubly impressive considering this was a novella of only about 70 pages.

My only complaint is that the whole time they're falling in love, again, the issue that broke them up in the first place was never even a concern. The snowstorm discarded the possibility of it being a problem, and so they were stuck in a fairy-tale like situation where real life didn't intrude. Thus by the time they did have to deal with the reality of it, the only way to resolve it was through a grand gesture - which I'm just not a fan of. I'm never sure that the grand gesture translates into a life-long change, so I really, really appreciated the epilogue here. It cemented my surety in their happily-ever-after and simply made me happy for both Claire and Logan that they found a way to make it work - no matter how difficult it may have been.

Season of Second Chances is an incredibly sweet, sexy, real romance that touched my heart and made me sigh with happiness. This is the first thing I've read by Brighton Walsh, but I've already added some of her other books to my wishlist. ...more

This was lovely! Sometimes short and sweet are exactly what I need - and a healthy dose of sexy doesn't hurt either.

I liked the chemistry between the MCs, I even enjoyed the smut. (I really did!! *SHOCK!!!*)

Okay it's Christmas and this year I really want to read fluffy and romantic stories and then I found a Harlequin Christmas Special bundle and omg it's just perfect.

This was a really cute story. Seeing as it's +/- a 100 pages long there is not much to tell. The characters were okay. I liked Claire and Logan, because they respect each other. The romance was perfect. I love these kind of stories (don't judge me). And ah. The ending.

I truly loved this story, Logan will make your heart skip a beat.
Logan has such a way with words, he sure knows how to make a woman feel special and wanted, swoon...

Not because she has anything against the city but because it holds a lot of memories. Things she really doesn't want to remember. Claire is pretty sure things couldn't get any worse and as she is trying to figure out what to do, her past walks right up to her and says hi.

Logan is having a rough day. After getting a call that requires him to head out to a project a Claire is stranded in Chicago due to a snowstorm on Christmas….on her birthday. Ever since she got to town, she has wanted to leave. Not because she has anything against the city but because it holds a lot of memories. Things she really doesn't want to remember. Claire is pretty sure things couldn't get any worse and as she is trying to figure out what to do, her past walks right up to her and says hi.

Logan is having a rough day. After getting a call that requires him to head out to a project and then having his flight get cancelled, all he wants is to make it home. To his surprise, he notices Claire and knows he should leave her alone but finds himself walking right up to her.

Logan ends up inviting Claire to stay with him until she can get home and this begins the rest of the story. These two characters still clearly love each other and regret the way things ended but they have been apart for two years. Things start out awkward and eventually they begin to see in each other just how much they still care and why they loved each other to begin with. They are also able to see just why they haven’t been able to get past it.

Claire wants to take a chance but remembers how much it hurt every time Logan would choose his work over her and that is something she isn't really sure she could handle again. She definitely sees some changes in him, especially around his daughter, Sophia. Logan lets her paint his nails and she has put her stamp on the condo. All things that never would have happened two years ago when she left.

Through the rest of the story, both Claire and Logan come to realize what they want and what is really important to them. They also have to determine what they will and won’t do to be happy. Walsh does something in this story that isn't always easy. She is able to bring the reader into the lives of these characters and over a fairly short period of time, gets you to care about what happens to them. I loved reading from both perspectives as it allowed me to see just how much the break up impacted them both as they came back together.

If you are looking for a quick holiday read, definitely check this one out. Logan definitely falls into the “hot, single dad” category and you don’t want to miss out! Another great story by Brighton Walsh!

Love love loved swoony Logan, especially all of the interactions with Sophie. The nail polish? Gah.

Short and sweet, with a perfect epilogue, this was a blast to read.

Story could have been cute and I actually did skim to find out what happened, but it lost me at the point where he had sex with her even though he knew she was drunk. I mean, he literally says "You're drunk.". And then when she argued she wasn't (as drunk people often do) he listed every way he knew she was and THEN proceeded to have sex with her.

Season of Second Chances is a holiday novella and there is not much I love more. Yeah, I'm one of those "omg I have to watch every Hallmark Holiday Movie" people. Season of Second Chances is a holiday novella and there is not much I love more. Yeah, I'm one of those "omg I have to watch every Hallmark Holiday Movie" people. In general, I love novellas and holiday stories but combine them and I'm in h-e-a-v-e-n. Holiday themed stories are always so full of joy, hope and love and sweetness. Novellas give me just what I want, when I want it, a quick story that grabs me from the start and gets right to the falling in love. This little story did not disappoint when it came to that. I mean, two former loves coming back together at the holidays? *grabby hands*

Claire is stuck in the airport, of all places, on Christmas Eve. Not only is that terrible for most people, but the city she's in is the last place she wants to be. When your ex fiancee lives in said city, it's pretty much the last place you want to be stuck in during the holidays. Especially when you were on your way to see your family. Ugh and omg 'what might have been's and unrequited-ish loves and reconnection always always always get to me. They are my favorite ever.

The last thing Claire expects is to come face to face with her ex. And for him to offer her a place to crash, seriously no. Dude. It's like she's thrown back two years, before things ended between them. The glimpse of the two of them together, the what could have been, is so touching. Logan is a great guy and it's easy to see that he wishes things could have been different. I just wanted to shove him and Claire together and scream OPEN YOUR EYES.

They spend Christmas together, including Logan's young daughter, who Claire had been close with previously. Their time together filled me with squishy love and joy. It gave Logan and Claire hope. Heck, it gave ME hope. Then Logan disappoints Claire when she goes out on a limb for him. There's a lot of miscommuniation between the pair, from their past, to their present. That causes a lot of frustration on both sides of the fence. I wanted to climb inside the book and tell them to talk to one another for goodness sake!! siiiiiigh

SO. I won't spoil it for you but Logan breaks down and goes after Claire (AS HE SHOULD HAVE DONE BEFORE ahem) and I cheered. A lot. It was the ultimate gesture. As if I didn't have reason to like Logan before, this was icing on the cake when it came to him. Claire is one of those characters you feel like you can be besties with so for her to get her happy ending is the best.

I can't say how much I enjoyed Season of Second Chances Brighton is my favorite! Such a joyful and sexy story. I suggest you give it a try. ...more

Season of Second Chances will be one of those books that I will always reread whenever I'm in the mood for a fluffy read. It left me feeling like all was right in the world and Logan has to be the hottest dad I ever read. There were several scenes that had me swoony-sighing all over the place for him. I'm skeptical about having kids myself, but if I can get a husband that will be great as a dad like Logan, I'll do it. The characters are so well thought out that you feel like you know them and see their idiosyncrasies in yourself.

Claire is the sassy woman who still loves Logan and would do anything for him but holds her ground. I love that, although she wants to be with Logan, she won't stay in a relationship that does not prioritize her. She knows that she's not going to be number one in Logan life because of his daughter, Sophie, but she can't accept having his job take a bigger priority than her. Instead of being swept away by only his words, she needs for him to prove that he has changed. In most romance novels, I typically see the woman changing her ways for a man who doesn't change himself and I love that Claire still managed to remain true to herself. With every book I read from Brighton, she creates female characters that knows what they want and who hold their ground.

There were some sexy times that certainly left me wanting more. While it not the most steamiest I've read from Brighton, it works really well. You don't feel like it really needed or that you're missing out on anything. The plot is never slow but it doesn't feels like scenes are being rushed or that events are happening before it should, which is hard to do in a novella.

This novella is the perfect holiday read and I'm so glad to be getting more of Brighton's words. I don't know how she does it, creating worlds in a small words count but feels like they it a full length novel. I hope everyone gives Season of Second Chances a read, you won't regret it. This is about a couple who have history with each other not a long history but still a romantic whirl wind one. After two years it was over though because Logan Dawes could not seem to remember why he fell in love with Claire Hanlin for. Then Logan brings Sophie on site for a daddy and daughter lunch and it was love at first site for Claire. When Logan sees how this woman who has no children experience to her history feels about her daughter and how they interact together, (having tea parties, dress-up, & reading together), that was it her asked her to marry him. She said yes.
Owning his highly successful company was a balance act Logan was not good at and it was causing a strain on their relationship. She knew she would never be first in their relationship nor would she want to she knew Sophie came first as she should. Yet, she wasn’t even second, the job was more and more important than she was.
Then Claire’s grandmother becomes ill, the grandmother that was there for her and her sister when their parents died. So, she went to be with her. It ended up being two months. Logan didn’t understand and was being pissy. When she needed him the most he couldn’t do it. So, the relationship was ended, he didn’t even come to her grandmother’s funeral he sent her flowers. By then it was too late anyways.
Now she is stuck in an airport in Chicago the same airport she said goodbye to him in when she went to her grandmothers and memories are killing her. Not to mention that today is Christmas Eve and her birthday and she cannot be in Denver with her family like she had planned.
She is snowed in at the one place she would never come back to if she didn’t have to. When all of a sudden a very familiar voice speaks to her one she would know anywhere. You have got it Logan. If you want to find out what happens you’ll have to read it and find out. But let’s just say it sizzles under the Christmas tree.
I did enjoy this book, the turmoil that pings back and forth between these two you can feel in your gut at times all the way to your bones. Provided by netgalley.com
