Bollettieri: Changing the Game

Rate this book
Celebrated tennis coach Nick Bollettieri has led life with the intensity of a fifth set tiebraker. In this book he tells all, from his humble beginnings in a small town north of New York City to his triumphs on the center courts at Wimbledon, the French Open and the U.S. Open. Mincing no words, he discusses his ten world champions, including Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, Maria Sharapova, Boris Becker, Monica Seles, Serena Williams and more; his eight wives; and all the successes and failures in between. His advice based on five decades of dominance in spors training is inspirational and reaches far beyond the tennis court.

What a life! Nick lived 10 lives in one. A lot of names are included in the book, few life tips, but, overall, an entertaining and funny lecture. I read it fast so I liked it.

I enjoyed reading "Changing the Game" by Nick Bollettieri. I think that this book has a perfect title because Nick Bollettieri really did change, and continues to change the game of tennis. He founded the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy (NBTA), which was basically a place where all of the top junior tennis players around the world could go to and train together. Nick's academy has produced great champions over the years including Jim Courier, Andre Agassi, and the Williams sisters. NBTA was the first place like this, and over the years many others have tried to follow in Nick's footsteps by creating sports academies of their own.

In this book Nick talks about a lot of the players that he has coached, and also how he has helped many people around the world. I especially appreciate the tennis program that Nick created with Arthur Ashe to help inner-city kids. I would recommend all tennis and sport lovers to read this book.

This book is really great. It tells about his childhood, to who he is now: one of the best tennis coaches in the world. I actually got it signed by him and it really inspired me. Once again, it's an amazing book! P.S. If you play tennis this is your kind of book.

Slow start

There are lots of pages early on where it seems like all you are reading is a long list of people he met and became friends with at his initial coaching roles. The book gets much better when he starts talking about the players and his academy
