Cleopatra Giancarlo is different from your average twenty something career girl. For one thing, she knows when people lie because she can see the truth in their shadows. For another, she doesn’t use her power for good. Or evil. After repeated failures to help others, she mostly just uses it to get deals at Bloomingdale’s. She fears what the government would do if they disc ...more

An Indie well worth investigating!

I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth in this review. And the truth is that I'm going to stalk this author, at knife point if necessary, until she writes me a second book, because I need more!

Oh, there was so much good here I don't know quite where to begin. Shall I tell you about how I instantly fell in love with the main character, Cleo? How her personality jumped right off the page? Or perhaps I should mention how I've never re

Loved, loved LOVED this!! I received a free Advance Reader Copy of this book and had to go back and purchase it for my permanent collection on my Kindle. The Whole Truth is a contemporary urban fantasy featuring superheroes and supervillains. The main character, Cleo Giancarlo, can literally see when people tell lies. She returns late from work and is surprised by two strangers in her home who whisk her (and her two mean cats!) away for their own protection. She's asked to work for an undergroun ...more

Really good superhero book. There is something for everyone with this book, light comedy, action, and adventure. Very enjoyable read overall.

I don't read a lot of urban fantasy, but this one has a great premise: Cleo has an unusual talent. She can see when people lie, by way of a shadow mask that covers their face to a greater or lesser extent, depending how big the lie is. Sometimes the mask comments, too, betraying the person's real feelings. This is such a cool idea, but there's a dark side too. What must it be like to know, beyond any possibility of doubt, when someone lies to you? Your best friend? No, of course your bum doesn't ...more

Cleo has the gift of seeing lies. She can even discern the real truth behind the lies. Because of this, she is recruited by a company that is made up of other "supras" or gifted people. Something terrible is happening behind the scenes, and Cleo's boss wants her to investigate it.

I liked Cleo a lot, I liked her power, and I liked the whole idea of supras. I even liked the investigation. My problem was that Cleo wasn't given a lot of critical information at the beginning which could have saved ev

Engaging concept and likeable main character. Cleo can 'see' when people lie and sometimes hear the truth. Nor is she the only one with "supra senses": there are also pushers, lickers, erasers and chamelons at Cleo's new job. Cleo struggles to fit in, find a saboteur and pursue a little office romance.
Quibble: I wish the plot had had higher stakes.
