F.X. Scully's "Because of Luke" is the kind of book I could probably get behind for the idea and the epic nature of the story when considering it on an overarching note. If I'm going based on what the premise entails, it has to do with sisters who fall in love with the same rockstar, but don't realize as their lives diverge just how close their relations with each other and the complication that comes with that. I wanted to like this story, I really did, and there were moments here where I could ...more

Book One; Because Of Luke, (Lewiston Blues)

Four Stars.

I was drawn into this book straight away, four bad guys, all pierced, tattooed and in a rock band no less! "I can promise you, I know what kind potential the band has. I know you're more than sexy voice's, ink covered bodies and questionable piercings." My gaze shifts to his crotch and I raise an eyebrow.

But it's not all it seems, there's heartbreak and anguish here too, we have one brother who wants the band to succeed, no matter what,

I hated this book. I loved this book. I wanted to throw my kindle through the wall a half a dozen times. Wanted to tell the characters to shut up and growup, but I just have to say I am so frustrated at this time. The author had me hook line and sinker through the whole book. If you love drama and not having the perfect happily ever after you got it in this book. The story is told in three pic, which you need and you fall in love with the characters. I liked this books, its set in the 90's and those people who were young back then know all about teenage angst. This book is a real tear jerker so have a box of tissue beside you. Trust me you so will need it
This story is about two sets of siblings both with their own sets of problems. Sheila and Shannon are the quintissentual preachers daughter. Who have kind a gone bad in their own ways. Sheila loves to party and lov

Because of Luke is a tragic love story. If you are in search of a HEA, look else where. I was happy, sad, and mad at so many different parts of the story that I truly felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. I was emotionally exhausted by the end of the book and sad with the way it ended in a huge cliffhanger. I enjoyed the fact that the story was written in three different POV's, I think it was necessary in this book to

This epic journey takes place over years and follows two sisters that are preacher’s daughters and a pair of brothers who are in a band as their lives intertwine.
This book is set in the 1990’s and I am not a period reader. I to imagine the characters in the here and now even if the book is written in a certain period as long as it is not spelled out then I can handle it. Having said that, I thought that I would not like this book despite growing up in the 90’s. B

Rocker romance, always sounds good :) So I asked for this to review. Shannon, she's gone from wild child before we met her to consummate good girl, covering up for her sister Sheila, who's taken over the wild child mantle. Their parents – deeply religious, repressive, avid church goers, dad is a reverend and they expect the girls to toe their line, even though Shannon is 21 and Sheila 17....It all has to bust somewhere doesn't it?

Have you ever read a book and got done and thought WHY? Why did you just do that to me?

That is where I was at the end of Because Of Luke.

I was cruising along, loving this book. Loving the drama between the sisters and the brothers and even though all of them are making stupid decisions here and there I couldn’t help falling in love with Luke and Shannon and Sheila and even Ross. Then BOOM! I got smacked with the ending. It isn’t even that it was a cliff hanger. I am ok with cliff hangers. Man,

After I read this book I confess I looked at some of the other reviews and there were loads of 4 and 5 stars and I wondered whether I had read the same book. But yes mine had the same character as theirs, the same plot as theirs and even the same ending so I am not sure what happened between their reading experience and mine.

Each main character’s story was presented in the first person and it was very difficult to identify who was speaking when. After a little while I grew accustomed to this wri

I was struggling on how to rate this book because there were a few editing problems that I picked up on, for example misuse of their/they're "unfortunately their more worried" and the wrong word being used "they didn't have a clue. But then again either did I"
Very early on in the book, there seems to be some inconsistencies, characters meeting but not remembering the encounters when they meet again.
That being said it didn't take away from the awesomeness of this book. I loved it! I quickl

This book had me all over the place emotionally. I don't even know where to start. I liked both Sheila and Shannon. I did like Shannon more though. Sheila seemed a little too spoiled in the beginning but my views on her changed. I even liked Luke and his older brother, even if I thought he was an a-hole a lot of the time. The biggest thing for me was even though I was mentally screaming at parts during this book, this book reeled me in. I couldn't stop reading. When I knew things were going to c ...more

3.5 OUT OF 5 STARS

I really enjoyed this book. I didn't really expect to love something that was set back in the 90's because that's like eight years before I was even born so I was a little bit iffy on this story. But I loved how F.X. Scully portrayed Shannon and Shelia as these sisters who are so close, yet they're so different.

Sheila bothered me at times, especially when she was tryi

This book had so much promise but it didn't work for me. It's told in 3 POV's, Shannon's, Sheila's (Shannon's younger sister), and Luke's. It was confusing to read about at first but then it makes sense further into the story. But then everything else just annoyed me. All the drama could have been missed if someone said something. Why the hell is everything so secret?! God. Shannon likes Lucas (Luke

I AM IN LOVE!! I am so glad I found this book. This is not your typical romance & doesn’t have your typical perfect ending tied in a pretty red bow. I personally don’t like when a blurb states whether the story has a HEA or not but in this cases it only made me want to read it more. Towards the end I was trying to figure out where the story was going & was so shocked by the ending that even weeks later I am still thinking about it. This is so much more than

DO NOT start this book without a box of Kleenex. I repeat do not. Luckily, I always read the end first, so I was prepared.

Because of Luke tells the story of two sets of siblings with lots of flaws and lots of love. Shannon and Sheila are preacher’s daughters gone bad, sort of. Sheila loves rock ‘n’ roll and partying. Shannon is trying to put those days behind her and start a life away from her stifling parents. Enter the beautiful, mysterious

This is full of painful events with lots of heart break and miscommunication. Not to mention the drama there is loads and loads of drama. Luke's brother is broken but I want to see him happy. I know who I want him to be with, and I'm crossing all of my fingers and toes in the hopes of it coming true. This is Luke's story so I want him to be everything I know he can. I was really heartbroken at the end and wished for a different outcome but al

First and foremost get a tea towel or tissue I would suggest the ones with lotion. I love happy endings, but I did not get one. What I did get was a cliffhanger!

This is a book that has so many twists and turns and sad moments I cried and screamed at the characters. I also cried for the characters. The author will pull all of your emotions out of you. The ending blew my mind. I did not see it coming, but I also did not see the cliffhanger.

I hate spoilers

I purchased this book after reading book 3 in the series. Book 1 is really where the story begins. Luke meets a girl (Shannon) and falls for her, but is taken on the road with his brother's band and can only reconnect with her occasionally. In the mean time, his band's manager is (unknowingly) Shannon's Sister, and the two bond while on the road. You find yourself in Luke's shoes as you read, torn between the two sisters, even though you know he should be with Shannon. The book makes you feel ea ...more

I really couldn't read this book fast enough. I loved it.

Shannon and Sheila are daughters of a preacher. Shannon's trying to move on from her past. Sheila is younger and just wants to have fun. These two sisters are so different yet so close.

Luke and Roscoe are in a rock band. These boys see also so different and want different things in life.

This is a brilliant read with lots going on. I love books about rocker boys and this certainly didn't disappoint me.
Beware of the big cliffhanger that

I almost did not finish this book. I was almost halfway into the book when I've decided to read the synopsis once again. I became unsure since it will be a love triangle between siblings plus Sheila's personality really didn't sit with me -- she is super spoiled and always blames Shannon when things have gone wrong. But, something told me to continue reading it. After reading t

Crazy twists and turns. I liked the different POV's but sometimes was confused as to who was who. Shannon and Sheila's names kept confusing me. I did like the story line, the twists and turns kept me wanting to read. As a person who grew up in the 80's...I liked the many references that were made. Brought me back to my teenage years. I liked the twist and surprise at the end of the book and will definitely will be reading the next one.

F.X. Scully loves romance, but she doesn't write your typical Happily Ever After. Because let's face it, in the real world, it can sometimes take a lot of angst and pain before you get there. And some of us never do. But since most of us pick up books to escape the real world, her stories don't lack hot boyfriends and sexy encounters. Neither will she leave you completely heart broken, sobbing int ...more
