Love Song #1

Irreplaceable

Rate this book
Falling in love on stage is easy. What happens off stage is more complicated.

Olivia Van Aller’s new Broadway role could be the start of an amazing career… until she tanks her first rehearsal. Now, her future depends on whether she has onstage chemistry with Daemon, her grumpy, enigmatic co-star. Getting to know the real him won’t be easy, and not falling for him might just prove impossible.

The last thing Daemon Chase needs is a scandal with a much-younger actress. He’ll spend enough time with his captivating co-star to make sure they’re believable onstage, but he will not be dumb enough to actually fall for her. Or so he keeps telling himself.

Between dancing on rooftops and memorizing lines, they realize that remaining strictly professional isn’t in the script for them. With their careers on the line, they have to decide if their connection is theater magic, or if it's truly irreplaceable.

Irreplaceable, a prequel to the Love Song series, is a standalone, spicy, age-gap, celebrity romance with a guaranteed HEA.

Cara packed an incredible amount of character development and steam into this novel. I’m a huge fan of stories where the character’s biggest enemies are their own hang-ups, and Liv and Daemon fell all over each other to avoid talking about their feelings. The New York setting was described so well that it was palpable, and I wanted to see these two on the stage immediately. Don’t miss it!

I already loved Liv and Daemon, but Irreplacable made me love them even more.

The chemistry and sexual tension were off the charts from page one, but they developed a friendship and got to know each other before taking that next step, and it felt so natural.

Irreplaceable was a really realistic portrayal of the treatment of young/new performers (especially women) but Liv was such a strong FMC. You could really tell how much she wanted to excel and how hard she was willing to work to get there. I love how Daemon let her stand on her own, only stepping in to defend her when absolutely necessary. They had a really healthy dynamic.

And it wouldn't be a Cara Dion book without incredibly spicy moments. Liv and Daemon are HOT.

Cara packed a lot into 160 pages and, though the ending is beautiful and a great resolution, I can't help wanting more from the Love Song characters. I can't wait to read what she does next!

Thank you to Cara Dion for the ARC. All reviews are 100% honest.

Liv is an actress ready for her big break. She has a gig that with a man that her career is relying on. Damon is quite a bit older than Liv and a scandal with a young actress is exactly what he doesn't need. But the two find it very hard to remain strictly professional and it could blow up both of their careers in the wrong way.

This was a fairly basic set up as far as plot goes. Young actress seeking to make a big break. Hooks up with an older more established actor despite trying to avoid it. Something goes wrong and the pair are in hot water. It's a bit of a cliché, but I did love the author's take on it with Liv and Damon. They have chemistry and have the age gap spice that made it all worthwhile.

The book was a little slow paced, despite it being a shorter story. I wished things had picked up a little more in the beginning so it didn't feel like it was dragging.

I enjoyed the story 'Irreplaceable' by Cara Dion. I thought it seemed like a very realistic look at two actors who are rehearsing and then starring in a play. The woman is a young, eager actress who is thrilled to be picked to star in a play, but more so because her favorite Broadway star who she has a major crush on is starring opposite her. Although he has been warned against falling for his younger leading ladies he is instantly attracted to this charming woman. She realizes that if they have an affair there will be a time limit to it when they have to part to act in other plays. He has a problem believing that anyone could love him instead of his stage persona and she has a problem thinking that he would not want to continue the romance. They both come to realize that they love each other.

Another great quick story to introduce Olivia and Callie. I love the fact that Olivia was the understudy who got her big break with her childhood crush.

Daemon is reeling from bad press and needing this play to do well. When Liv is so nervous around him, the director demands they spend time together. Liv is used to being second choice in work and romance. But the feelings that both Daemon and Liv pull from each other is unlike anything either has experienced before.

After reading Undeniable it was nice to see Liv and Daemon's story.
I loved these two and how they supported each other through out the story.

Liv needs to make it in the hard Broadway industry. Daemon is her cos star. They have to make on stage connection seem real without actually losing their hearts in reality.
For a short book, so much was put in and a great story was told.
Also don't forget hot and spicy scenes that will leave you panting.

Irreplaceable - Cara Dion
*Book Rec*

My first Cara book was Whisking it All and I LOVED it so I knew I had to read other books by Cara. This was an adorable and spice novella about Broadway starts which was the best kind of different trope I could have asked for. It was insta-ISH, and if you know me that's not really my thing, but it absolutely did NOT feel insta at all which is a huge tell about the author.

If you need a quick, funny, fast-paced spicy read then I high recommend you pick this one up! I can't wait to read the other two in this novella series!
