An Inside Out Novella in Mark's POV

While Chris and Sara have traveled to Paris to avoid the chaos of press and police after the tragic night we’d shared, I have stayed to face the reality of what has happened. But there is no peace to be found in facing the truth, and no truth to be found in the confessions that have been made and retracted. I am a Master, all about contro

Quick review for a quick read. I think I still have issues with Mark's narrative voice, but on the whole - this was a better novella in the "Inside Out" series than "The Master Undone", at least as far as the ones I've read.

This narrative takes place during the time of the third book, so fair warning for spoilers. Mark's still dealing with his attraction to Crystal, and yet juggling his mother's cancer diagnosis (which my heart kind of hurts because I keep picking up narratives that remind me of

I give this 5 unbelievable stars.....

This ARC was given by Lisa Renee Jones and Gallery, Threshold, Pocket Books via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

My Hunger continues the story of revealing more secrets of Mark Compton and gives little glimpses into other characters from the If I Were You series. Mark is use to being in control of his world, his needs, and his life. He is quickly losing control when his mother is diagnosed with cancer, a major scandal is exp

Quite the opposite from his cold and commanding Master.

With his mother still in the hospital and the arrest of Ava for the murder of Rebecca, Mark’s dominant and controlling ways are slipping away, guilt is eating him from the inside out. Ava has retracted her guilty plead and Mark is under inv

Mark, oh Mark. He's in a bad situation. His mother has cancer, one of his employees was selling fake art, his ex-submissive Rebecca was murdered by his lover, well Ava is his ex-lover now. And we’re all wondering what he was thinking taking her to bed in the first place.
Ava totally flipped when she thought Mark was sleeping with Sarah, his new employee for his art gallery. Ava tried to kill Sarah and confessed to killing

“To most, Rebecca had been an employee at my San Francisco art gallery. To some, she’d been known to be my submissive, a woman who shared my home and my life. To me, she was so much more than either of those things—so much more than anyone, including her, will ever know.”

Mark is still reeling over the loss of Rebecca, and with Ava in police custody, he is hoping that everything can be laid to rest…even if he will be forever changed. Again.

In the meantime, Mark is in New York at
Mark’s POV is shared as his life begins to implode on itself as his emotional turmoil mounts. There seems to be no safe harbor for his sinking ship, until Crystal, his ailing mother’s right hand woman enters the picture. Strong, dominant and stunning, Crystal has none of the qualities mark looks for in a submissive for his lifestyle. But, there is chemistry, hot, fast and furious, but like a blast of cold water, Crystal is gone. How could just the thought of this woman have him twisted in knots? ...more

I received a gift copy of this novella in exchange for an honest review.

I'll start by saying that I absolutely love the Inside Out series. I pulled a marathon read getting through the first novels and novellas. However, my interest has always centered on Rebecca and Mark. The premise of getting to know Rebecca's via her diaries has fascinated me and for some reason I clung to that part of the storyline. Lisa Renee Jones hooked me with Rebecca's Journals and I've been clamoring to understand her

This is Mark’s second POV in the series. He’s still NY dealing with his mother’s illness. If you read “Master Undone”, you will meet the fiery Crystal Smith who happens to be his mother’s right hand person working at Riptide. You also know from “Master Undone” that her and Mark shared a very passionate affair on her terms. No Master and submissive play for this gal. She leaves the next day with a note and Mark is none too happy.

Lots of things are happening back in San Francisco that he needs to

I've been anxiously waiting for more of Mark & Crystal and I was not disappointed. Mark has to be in control, right? Crystal is not a submissive, right? Yup, that's what I've been waiting for. I was ready for the sparks to fly to see who ends up on top, or who might be topping from the bottom. Well, I got my sparks, Crystal is just as feisty as I remembered. The investigation is still going on and there is more mystery to unravel, this isn't the end, stay tuned for My Control.

I have fallen hard for all of the characters in this series and Mr. Compton is really a mystery in the whole thing. I love that we get another taste of what is going on inside Mark's head. The story continues with all the struggles that face Mark after we discover what may have come of his beloved Rebecca. Mark is finally coming to grips with the feelings he had for Rebecca and stirring up past. Crystal continues to push Mark on this journey and it is tr

I'm still not the biggest fan of Mark and Crystal's relationship, but this installment was incredibly hot! There are even more glimpses of Mark's vulnerability as he's still reeling from what happened with Rebecca. The circumstances and his guilt have made him question his ability to continue being a Master. If it's even necessary. In my opinion, with what's going on with him and Crystal, he needs to just let it go and enjoy what he could have with her.

now that Mark's a "real" person, not just some asshole like we all thought he was in the beginning, I'm really interested in seeing what happens next for him. Crystal just might be what he needs, if he can stop the warring between his head & heart.

This story continues the story that Mark and Crystal began in The Master Undone. You can read My Hunger as a stand-alone story, but I believe you will find it a more pleasurable read if you read The Master Undone first. Author note

Somehow this story just keeps getting better.

I don't believe Rebecca's dead and I'm extremely disheartened at the bizarre turn this series has taken. I hated the introduction of Crystal and her continued presence, particularly the way Mark seems weirdly obsessed with this chick in Kardashian-inspired clothes, has me wondering if there's any hope this series will be turned around. I LOVE Lisa Renee (She is an absolute DOLL) but with this new addition to the series and the way Crystal continues to be put forth as viable has me miserable. It' ...more

Mark is a man that is always in control. Control is the thing that keeps him sane in a world of insane pressures and demands. He is faced with the possible terminal illness of his mother, the death of his submissive, and betrayal of an employee that may ruin his family’s businesses. With all of these pressures he does not need to react to the fire that Crystal Smith ignites in him. He doesn’t ever give up control and that is what he did the one night he let go wi

"The dynamic of a Master and submissive relationship are defined by each couple, but the basics are the same. It's the Master's job to protect the submissive, and put his or her pleasure and safety before all else."

After finding out that he was Rebecca's Master, more intriguing Mark became to me. I understand Detective Grant is just doing his job, but why is he going after Mark like that? He didn't do it dammit. We all know Ava confessed. She's playing insanity to get away with it. I can't belie
In My Hunger by Lisa Renee Jones we dive back in to the beautifully messed up mind of Mr. Mark Compton. With recent events, there is chaos all around him, personally and professionally. And the man who always is in complete control, really...has no control at all, especially when a certain female is close by.

This takes place in NY and San Francisco. It starts out with Mark in NY visiting his mother at the hospital where he still can't get her mind off Crystal. He feels likes he's losing control what with the guilt that's easting at him about Rebecca, his fear at seeing his mother so frail and the conflicting emotions over the night before. His mind is racing and his thoughts are scattered but they all end up back on Crystal.

We met Crystal in Master Undone, when Mark flew back to New York to visit his ailing mother. Now with Mark returning to the gallery and the questions from the police, he needs Crystal to hold things together at the foundation and ensure his mother and father are kept out of the mess that is going on. But Crystal doesn’t stay in New York for long, especially when things take a turn for the worst and rushes to Mark only to s

I can't get enough of Mark and Crystal! No matter what Mark says the end has not come. I don't think that's possible. He might be messed up about the whole Rebecca situation, but I think that Crystal can make him move on. I just want them together...

The fact that Rebecca's body has yet to be found makes me uneasy. I keep thinking that somehow she is not dead and she will show up and complicate everything. I know that it sounds crazy, but you never know. I guess I will have to wait until Revealin

This book continues the story of Mark and Crystal, which started in The Master Undone. I loved that it is in Mark’s POV. I enjoy learning about the internal struggles Mark faces as his encounters with Crystal continue. Mark is a character that I have always had a soft side for throughout the series, but this book makes me like him even more. There is more to Mark than meets the eye. It is very interesting to learn a little of Mark’s perspective on Rebecca, Chris and Sara.

I had a hard time connecting with Mark when we first met him in "If I Were You"; I had a hard time with his cold dominance; he seemed like someone who would break my heart. My first impression of Mark was that he was a controller like Chris but he was not ready to develop a relationship beyond bdsm.

This was a short novella, however a lot of exciting things happen. My Hunger continues the story of revealing secrets of Mark Compton, who is a Gallery owner and a BDSM Master of a club, from the series If I Were You. My Review:
I am so ready for Mark and Crystal's story. While these little glimpses are fantastically fun to read, I need and want more.

This one takes up where HIS SECRETS left off. Mark is still reeling from the blows of Rebecca's death and his mother's cancer. He needs something to break the emotions that are battering him internally, but refuses to bring another innocent woman, Crystal, into his BDSM world. But Crystal keeps pushing at him and their chemistry is off the charts. I can't wait to

This novella was just a taste of an intriguing series, that takes the reader into the masked world of the upper stratifications in the world of BDSM players. Although it wasn't pitch perfect (ex. lag, issues with flow, dialogue), this was a perfect read for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

My Hunger by Lisa Renee Jones is a novella that takes place right after the novel The Master Undone and delves deeper into the growing relationship between Mark the Gallery owner and his new employee Crystal.
