He's just a friend! is the mantra pregnant Laurel Kent lives by while pretending not to stare at sexy Tyler Noble, the gorgeous neighbor who's been all-too-kindly playing Mr. Fix-It in her house. After all, she needs the help more than she cares to admit—her sharp-tongued grandmother is her only family. But it's getting nearly impossible to ignore the sparks and butterflie ...more

I always like a book by Karen Templeton. She writes ordinary people in ordinary, if often complicated circumstances and makes you Believe in them and their story, and more, makes you care. The hero is owner of an architectural salvage business and sometime handyman who lives next door to a woman -- the heroine -- he hasn't met, until his dog digs under the fence and goes visiting. And they slowly get to know and like each other. That's pretty much the story, but Templeton does it so well, it's w ...more

Very good book. Laurel and Tyler have been neighbors for a couple months when he finds out that his dog has been visiting her on a regular basis, thanks to a hole under the fence. Replacing the old fence with a new stone wall puts them in each other's company quite a bit, and a friendship starts to develop. Tyler starts looking for more reasons to stop over and visit whenever he can.

Laurel has to admit to herself that her neighbor is certainly easy on the eyes, but she's not looking for a relat

3 1/2 stars. A lovely story of love and families--those of blood and those of the heart--with a dog and a baby, set in a small New Jersey town. It's a heart-warming tale that will have readers rooting for both characters. ...more

The theme to More Than She Expected is the lifetime search for a missing father. Laurel Kent is a single mother-to-be, although not exactly by choice. Her yummalicious neighbor Tyler Noble has her thinking about a lot more than asking him for a cup of sugar. It turns out Tyler is fatherless too. Adopted by a great family as an unhappy tween, he recently reunited with his birth mother…the question her never stops asking her, “Who’s my father?”

When Laurel and Tyler become friends—with Tyler insta

This is a nice story. I like the characters. I would like to read more of the Jersey boys! The plot was good.
Their was one love scene that I skipped over.

The plot Laurel Kent has moved in next door to Tyler Noble. When Tyler's dog escaped his back yard into Laurel's. He realizes that his dog is going under the fence. So they decide to put a brick fence up.

When Tyler realizes she is pregnant and the dad wants no part of the baby. He helps Laurel and brings his own issues of his past up.

This will be short. I liked the book. It's nice to have just a contemporary romance without lots of villains, blood, guts, the occasional fang, and/or animal involved. Laurel was a sweetheart and admittedly gunshy when it came to getting involved with Tyler. I like that he didn't let her ultimately push him away when things abruptly got tough. I remember the sleepless nights right after baby comes and that is the WORST time for feeling like you've got your stuff together.

I didn't think this was

This book carries the theme of the importance of family in life. Laurel is pregnant when she first met Tyler. She was abandoned by her boyfriend as soon as he heard about her pregnancy. She is determined to be the best single mother she can be. Tyler on the other hand, have his own issues. He was adopted by the Noble family after his mother loses custody of him due to neglect and due to frustration, he uses to take out his feeling on others. This make him feel that he would never be a good fathe ...more

"3 out of 5 stars! A woman who has been unlucky in love finds herself in a tough situation yet plans to make it on her own by any means necessary, that is until her neighbor brings her into his life and family offering her support, friendship, and a little something more. Yet, will she be willing to take what he's offering no matter the circumstances?"

What I like about Karen Templeton's books is that she writes characters who are "normal" and her conflict always strikes a realistic cord. This story started out a little slow for me, but then the author pulls out the big guns and emotionally wallops you with angst. A nice, lovely story. ...more

"TOP PICK! Templeton revisits the Nobles for this fateful, humorous and unforgettable romance. Her poignant couple is an honest treat and her secondary characters rock. This love story will bring joy and even some tears (RT Book Reviews)". 4 1/2 stars
