Lijena returns to Bistonia with the magical Sword of Kwerin Bloodhawk, only to learn that her father has been sacrificed to Black Qar, the god of death
Solid. This book is entirely focused on Lijena and her quest of revenge against some of the men who have wronged her. She challenges an evil wizard who has pledged himself to the god of death called Black Qar. The final 3rd is very exciting, with two dungeon crawl sequences full of magic, traps and demons.
While I've enjoyed this series, this book is not one of my favorites. This book strictly follows Lijena, and her quest for revenge. Magic sword or not, you have to suspend your disbelief as to how fast and well Lijena learns to wield her sword. I also found it very tiresome how often Lijena gets captured and how often she is at the mercy of someone else. Conceivably you could read this one by itself as a stand alone novel.
