A dragon's fire cannot be tamed.

In 22nd century sovereign America, women should be seen and not heard. Unfortunately, twenty-one-year-old CAITRIONA HAYDEN didn't get that memo!

Determined to make her way in the world following the death of her uncle, being "seen" is the least of Cait's problems.

Someone's trying to kill her.

To be clear, this is NOT YA. FIRE OF STARS AND DRAGONS is written for a mature teen/adult audience and contains scenes unsuitable for younger readers. Cait is not a naive or innocent heroine, so things get steamy and rather explicit in a few scenes. (My youngest beta team member is a mature 16.)

This is a multi-POV book where readers are immediately immersed in the fantasy world without frontloaded world-building. Expect the world to be explained over the course of the book through the eyes of th

As one of the beta readers for this book, I am so excited to see the release date draw near! Melissa has an excellent story unfolding here in the first of a three book series. Her ability to take paranormal beings and weave them into the human world is so convincing that I am beginning to wonder when I see an extremely "hot" guy whether he just might have some dragon blood in him. Let me assure you, if you like steamy heroes, Theo will set your soul on fire! Intrigue, romance, fantasy...this boo ...more

Cait is the quintessential fictional representation of a strong, yet realistic strong-willed and independent woman. She stands her own against the powerful, supernatural men in the room—no matter how many outnumber her.

The author has not only created a worthy female role model, the guys in Fire of Stars and Dragons are equally admirable for their morals (and good looks)!

I love that Cait is a strong, independent, and often snarky main character. I like that she is a good role-model for how independent young ladies should be. Dante is my book crush. He is so epic with his brilliant banter, and his personality is so engrossing. The whole book's tone is addictive. I couldn't stop reading. Even the secondary characters are interesting and well developed. Dragons Clifford and Jai are my favorites.

* I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. *

It has been a long time since I have read a book that has intrigued me the way that this one did. I started the book wondering if it was going to be another one of those romance books that are so predictable and by the 3rd chapter I was like WOW! Where is this going?!? I loved the character development, the characters themselves and the amount of detail that the author used when describing them to us. She made all of the charact

I don’t think I can express just how much I loved this book!

The cover is what got my interest at first. It’s just TOO pretty to ignore. I love fantasy novels! Like, LOVE! But I usually prefer a more historical-type or otherworldly setting. What shocked me about this book is that, while it’s set in a futuristic “sovereign” America, the novel had an almost historical feel. The world in which Ms. Petreshock has created is a society full of archaic social conventions, where women have little to no

As a member of the beta team, I’ve already read this book several times and can’t wait to read it again. The story is amazing, but it’s the key characters that will draw you in from the beginning and keep you coming back for more. Cait is a feisty heroine that you can both relate to and admire even as she navigates incredibly unique circumstances. The supernatural men (demigod, vampires, and DRAGONS!) are all complex and each brings something different to the story.

I highly recommend checking o

I have wanted to read this book ever since I first saw the cover months ago. I was so curious about these dragons and I loved the sky in the background behind the girl. This is a really hard review for me to write because there are so many things that I really loved about this book. But there were two things that didn't work for me, and they were fairly large things. I'm going to start with what I loved.

Cait is super spunky, sassy and fi

As you can see from the synopsis, this book has everything going for— a strong set of characters, a brilliant setting, vampires, demigods, and dragons— my most favorite part of the book.

The dragons, specifically, are what makes this story stand out— it’s unique. In many books, we’ve seen vampires and ghosts and other paranormal creatures of that sort, so human/dragon-beings is an immediate hook that pulls you into the story: it’s refreshing, but what Petreshock has brought to them makes the stor

EEeeeeeeep I can not put into words how much I loved this book! It was near perfection for me, by the time this series is over there is no doubt I will be shouting 5 stars from roof tops. As a member of Melissa's beta team, I've witnessed Fire of Stars and Dragons grow from a sassy and confident fledgling to an even sassier and more confident adult. The fantasy elements are combination of dragons, vampires, deities, elves, and Fae (basically everything great and awesome in the fantasy world). However, it's all spun in a unique way with all the supernatural creatures existing within their own society where even they fall under a higher order and don't know eve

FIVE STARS all the way.

I mean look at that cover. How can a book with a cover THAT gorgeous NOT be amazing?

I wasn't disappointed. First off, Melissa has a way with men. I love a good alpha hero and wasn't disappointed with not one, not two, but three alphas. Honestly, there were even more than that, but the story revolves around the three main alphas. Who wouldn't love to be fought over by three ridiculously gorgeous alpha males??

The pace was perfect and I was pleased with how Melissa presente

I was privileged to so several behind the scenes interviews with the characters of Melissa Petreshock's debut novel FIRE OF STARS AND DRAGONS without having read the story.

What I learned about each character intrigued me and made me quite anxious to read this novel to learn more. And Ms. Petreshock didn't disappoint.

In a unique love triangle, I found myself torn between two of Cait's suitors. While I was greatly please with Cait's ultimate choice, I still felt bad for the one who lost out, and c

Recommends it for: Dragon lovers
Caitriona Hayden is living in a time where women weren't treated as equals. She was just a normal human woman until a dragon took her as his ward. From there her world was turned upside down. Not only does she have a dragon but also a deity, a demigod fighting for her love. And last but not least, a Vampire, the King of sovereign America. Cait has some hard decisions ahead of her and some BIG changes to come.

I really don't know where to start. I have only just finished the last page and have to

I was asked by the publishers if I would like to review this book and I'm so glad I did as I loved every minute of this book and was close to perfection...

The only thing I don't like about this cover is the blue bit on the top corner as I feel like it takes away the beauty of the background which I must say is stunning. I love the typography of the title as I always love fancy style font.

Even while writing this review I am debating on whether to rate this book the full 5 out of 5 as I loved ever

My Rating: 3.5/5

A kick-ass heroine, a mix of magic, and three swoon-worthy guys. We get all that and more in Fire of Stars and Dragons. I really enjoyed reading this wonderful book. It wasn't perfect, but it was a lovely read.

Cait was a wonderful heroine. She was very strong and, even while surrounding by several powerful men, she refused to let anyone walk all over her. She wasn't taking any of their crap. I thought she was a great character and I really liked her.

I liked that all 3 potential l

It takes a pretty fine book for me to start and finish it right through the middle of the night in one sitting, especially for a book in a genre I don’t read all that often. But Fire of Stars and Dragons was something else. This was a spectacular book and I knew right from the first page that I wasn’t going to sleep (or getting up) until I’d finished it.

I am always on the lookout for a good Dragon book. So when I found this book on the newly release list, I immediately jump on it. Though I did spend first halve of the book frustrated, and annoyed because the "courting" process. And yes the whole thing took little more than 50%. The whole time I kept doubting myself, since it should have been obvious whom she will choose in the end (at least I've hoped). But because the lack of communication, trust and self-doubting, it took quite a while ti

I have been looking forward to reading this for a VERY long time, and I was definitely not disappointed! Petreshock has designed a really interesting world, with some great characters, that drew me in and kept me up very late at night. I loved the detail when it came to describing the dragons and their hierarchy, as well as the world in general. It was seriously fascinating. Also, the book gave a whole new meaning to, well, 'how to train your dragon.' Hehe! There was some serious heat to this, w ...more

It's hard to categorize this book - it's set in the far future United States that is ruled by supernatural beings. So dystopian/fantasy/paranormal?
The writing is wonderful, strong and lovely to read. I kept finding myself rereading passages, it was so enjoyable. Our heroine is a human female who under female protection laws must marry, and she is being courted be a vampire king, a demigod, and a dragon! She is a strong young woman, no pushover, and it's fun to read her internal monolog. This is

Good book with pretty awesome world building. I just felt like there was a lot more to the story. I have a strong feeling that there is another book in the future but as there is no clear indication at this point in time, I felt a little unsatisfied with the conclusion.

Give me Dragons, throw in an awesomely awesome heroine, mix in fantastical shenanigans and combine it with a love triangle of sorts and I'm hooked. Fire of Stars and Dragons is an awesome story. I was sucked in from the first paragraph and by the time I reached the end, well, I can't wait to see what will happen next.

When Cait's Vampire Uncle unexpectedly dies, it leaves her a very rich heiress. It also leaves her vulnerable to the laws of the Vampires, which basically makes her a dependent eve

Yay, dragonshifters! I can't resist a dragon book. I don't even know why. I think they are the most exotic of the supernatural creatures in books nowadays. Melissa did a great job of creating fun and interesting dragonshifters. I loved how unique each one felt. I finished the book, although I'm still not so sure why. Maybe I'm just a huuuuuge sucker for books where one female is swarmed with good looking males. Or I'm a sucker for, well... good looking males. God, I'm such a shallow human being. That being said.

I am always looking for something different in the New Adult genre, and after reading the blurb, I thought this would be just that. I am happy that is was too, no broken people, just romance with a little bit of a twist. The paranormal world, with fae, vampires and dragons made this romance even better. It follow Cait, shortly after the death of Cait’s Uncle, he leaves her a fortune that would be the envy of just about anyone. But at only 21, she is not old enough to be on her own, so she will
