Sooooooo

I started reading this expecting a fantasy (it's part of a fantasy contest), and what I got was more of a scifi. I was 50% through and had read about multiple kinds of aliens, alien human hybrids, the world ended and people were living on a space station and the moon.

I was waiting around for Mighty Moon Dragons and Space Elves….. but I got…. Thor?

This was a crazy book and I hope I can actually review it.

Plot:

Zek is a marine who’s watching the world go insane after a giant unidentified ob

I have never had this much fun with a book before. Halcyon’s Wake is insane. OK so have you ever been drinking and things get out of hand? You’re telling a story and some guy across from you starts telling a story that one ups yours. So you tell another, even crazier story. Then the same jerk hits you again with a better one. I’m pretty sure that Dale Triplett was having both of those conversations with himself.

Halcyon starts almost reasonable. Asteroid comes screaming toward Earth. Our planet c

I love this book. Can't believe I just said that, but it's true. Something about Triplett's style, plotting and the subject matter gave me that feeling I used to get as a kid when I'd read something that would make me giggle and squirm and be mortified at the same time, and just be thinking, "this is sooo cool." I mean, we've got astronauts, aliens, mythological beings, and even Bigfeet, Bigfoots Sasquatches, yeah those things. Triplett makes it work. And a comet is heading straight toward earth ...more

This is the 5th SPFBO 2017 book I've finished reading and it is indeed one hell of a strange ride.

Zack is a widowed Marine that has been tasked with the mission to fly the recently revamped Discovery Shuttle out to space with the president and a few other lucky people including several soldiers, scientists and a bottle of really, really good bourbon. Why is this happening? Because just a few days ago a strange meteor defying physics called Halcyon is going to hit Earth and everyone thinks its th

To be perfectly honest, I don’t read a lot of science fiction. Every once in a while, I get a hankering, but it’s not something I read on a regular basis. That being said, the narrative of Halcyon’s Wake: Faith, was so easy to sink into. The first person narrative of the main character, which was at times so snarky and relative I couldn’t help but love him, made the experiences in the story feel frightening real. It made me wonder, as I’ve often done, how the survivors of an apocalypse would rea ...more

Triplett's writing grabs your attention from start to cliff-hanging finish! Rough and ready action with quick-witted humor, and wildly imaginative plot, characters, and scenes. The descriptive writing jumps off the page, creating a new world unlike any other in Sci - Fi fiction. Grab a copy and start reading!

I listened to/read this book.

OK read. Probably won't read the sequels. It was a bit all over the place. The grammar needs improvement.

Fred Filbrich does an OK job narrating.

Amidst juvenile fart jokes, threats of butt hickies, and honest-to-god space sasquatch, I couldn't help but laugh out loud at the epic insanity spewing out of Triplett's brain. Halcyon's Wake is clever, entertaining, and a conspiracy theorists wet dream as Major Zack Dalton rides the wake of the world's greatest disaster, giving his life for what's left of his country-and the world.

Halcyon's protagonists are extremely likable, despite Zack's nonchalant humor that had me laughing throughout the b

Halcyon's Wake: Faith by A. Dale Triplett
This is a fantastic story if anyone likes aliens and mayhem because the author describes the story in great detail and it was very enjoyable.
Halcyon is a comic heading straight for earth differently causing the end or so all thought countries setting of bombs to one another. The president and a few select men

and women get off the planet and head out to the moon. They have found a group of people from around secretly building a l

What an entertaining yarn. It felt like the author was spinning this tale to me as we chatted next to a warm fire sipping on aged whiskey. I have the feeling that Mr. Triplett will only get better as he lengthens his writer's stride.

Arbra Dale Triplett has been a freelance writer, UFO researcher and journalist - scribbling fiction, advertising, marketing and bad poetry on public bathroom walls for more than two decades. As a military brat he spent most of his youth in Germany, then later served in both the Marine Corps and Air Force. After galavanting around the globe, he now hangs his hat on the shores of Table Rock Lake in ...more
