Pretty Pretty Pretty Please give "both" Hunter and Kenzie a happily ever after. I am ok with a little bit of crazy Brittany, I just really need them to have a happy ending....together!
I am also eager to know if Mason/Haily & Copper/Jaylinn will have their own books?
So happy with this one. Finally I know what happens to CC! Was not disappointed! Hunter was still sexy then ever even though I don't think he needed to keep his secrets from her as much as he did. But I can understand he wanted to protect her from all and any harm/danger. Think it ended kind of sudden with no real good explanation as far as Jason was concerned. But I also still loved the whole story. Can't wait for Mason and Hails story!!
I was so disappointed in this book. The first book was ok..... Focussing more on their relationship which led me to assume that the second book would be more along the same lines but expanding on their story. The second book does expand on their story however it became dramatic and ridiculous. Soooo many dramas which seemed to go no where and only seemed to try and top the previous unbelievable drama.
CC/Kenzie was so unbelievably immature and naive, I kept reading to see what the big drama/secret was when it was finally revealed I could not believe a) that's what we've been building up to? Seriously? And b) she refuses to speak to the father of her child/fiancé for approx 3 weeks?
Cannot believe I wasted my time reading this drivel. It astounds me that this book has such a high rating. And the epilogue. Seriously? Total waste of time. A pathetic attempt at an epilogue and cliffhanger.
Does anyone know if shes going to survive?! An in the book they should put " Britt " in a mental hospital for what she did shes crazy! I cant wait for this book i am so upset about the ending i wish she would of gone in to more at first during the book i thought she was going to end it in a happy ever after an move on the coop and jay's story or mase and hailey's story so they can get a happy ever after too but i really like the ending even though im upset cuz i want "CC" to live!
I am sure I will love this book, I related to the characters and I love the relationship between Kenzie "CC" and Hunter! I read the first book twice in one day and I am not sure I can wait until fall for the second book!!!!! I am already a nervous wreck!
I just knew that book two was going to unravel the fragile thread that was holding me to reading this series:/
Not only does book two continue to drag, drag, drag this story out with entirely too much mundane filler of eating, sleeping, and shopping, it also asks you to turn off 90% of your brain for the suspense elements.
Yes, there are spoilers, but you won't be missing a fucking thing since you'd have to be a moron to actually believe any of it.
Switch Your Brain Off & Jump Across The Mississippi
Some crazy obsessed bitch tries to kill you and your baby, and you just pretend it didn't fucking happen and say you'd rather forget all about it and move on?!? Now, normal mfer's might be worried the psycho would come after her and baby again, right? Nope, she's not worried, her FBI dad ain't worried, police investigator baby-daddy ain't worried, & overprotective brothers ain't worried. *eyeroll*
Follow the fucking sequence to make the suspense feasible if you so dare...
• Hunter and his fam runaway and move away from his scumbag dad to leave with his grandparents in TN. Then, they move to NJ, where CC and her family live. No contact with daddy whatsoever.
• Hunter, CC, and Dom go to college 6 hrs from home.
• Hunter's half-sister, whom he does not know exists, just happens to go to the same college.
• Half sister just happens to cheat with CC's boyfriend, Dom; becomes obsessed; and tries to kill CC over Dom even though she's pregnant with Hunter's baby and is now engaged to Hunter.
• Hunter's dad & half-sister just happen to have moved to the same hometown as CC and Hunter (six hours from the college, mind you.)
• Hunter's dad just happens to be dating the nurse that tends to CC after his half-sister tries to kill CC.
I could go on with the "happens to" but clearly you can see that you'd have to flip your brain to 'off' to even remotely buy into the happenstances. unFing believable. Oh, the coincidences!
And, yes, ^this^ is all written as coincidence. The dad and half-sister didn't even plan out all this shit.
What's better? The solution to the whole debacle of meany dad, evil half-sister, and flirty dad's girlfriend ruining their lives? Why, of course, just go ask them to leave you alone & to put a leash on the half-sister.
I'll leap across a mud puddle, but you (author) can't ask me to leap across the Mississippi and not expect me to laugh at you.
There was so much more wrong with this reading disaster, but if you can overlook the above in a book, well.... Good luck with that!
Okay ladies did you read Trying Not To Love You? Do you recall how that ended? If you did then you had to be totally...
I know I was. Well, Easy To Love You picks up right where TNTLY ended. I sat back and watched Hunter and waited for him to realize what happened and I was sort of...
When he finds out what happens, actually first hand sees it, and when he first gets to his CC I was totally...
and I totally wanted donut to go along with my Starbucks. My heart was breaking for him. I hated that he blamed himself for not "protecting" CC as he put it but when he first meets a very special person named Ryder well I was totally...
but underneath all of this I was also wanting to ...
a certain person who helped him with Ryder when he first met him. Hunter & CC love well I felt it through the pages while I was reading. I felt the utter despair that Hunter felt until he had his CC back and I was...
that when CC came back all would be just perfect ~ but if that was the case then the book wouldn't have held my interest for very long. Nope secrets were the theme of this book I was..
when Hunter didn't reveal to CC what I felt should've been revealed right away. When CC recalls Brittney and we learn a little more I just wanted to jump in the book ...
to Brittney. The girl is seriously...
The book sure had me ...
a time or two and certain parts I was thinking.
come on everyone, well except CC, was withholding stuff and what ultimately was something she NEEDED to know. The whole family, yes we get Mason, Hailey, Cooper, Jaylinn, Jackson, Chloe and the rents, knew and I certainly understood how CC felt. As with the first book I was ..
when you got everyone together. They were an absolute hoot and I cannot wait for more of Mason & Hailey. I want to know what is going on with these two. I mean they totally had me...
When Hunter & CC finally got to ...
it was freaking hot ~ I was..
Megan did a great job of interspersing the in bed, against the wall and in the bathroom scenes throughout the book but in a way it encompassed the love the two had for each other. Oh yes I was...
When secrets were revealed I had to ....
you could feel the pain, the sense of betrayal but also the feeling of both Hunter and CC being lost without the other. I just wanted to..
both of them and the secrets well let's just say I was...
when all the players are revealed but when I got closer to the end I was..
and I was...
and then a door opens and I was..
oh I was so....
and I stopped and thought
here we go again! Then I jumped out of my chair and ...
for my two dogs who totally know I lost it a long time ago!!!
Easy To Love You was a 5 star read for me. Megan picked up perfectly where the first book left off but also made sure that Hunter & CC worked through their trials and didn't just sweep it under the rug. She let them process things and allowed each other to see that really was Easy To Love the other and that with the support of their family and the soul searing love they had for one of another they weren't going to let any obstacles keep them apart!
If you've read Trying Not To Love You then you know you have to read Easy To Love You that's a complete no brainer. If you haven't read this series then I suggest you grab both books while I sit back and wait for the continuation of the Love series and I sure hope we get to see Mason & Hailey in the near future as well as Cooper & Jaylinn cause there is so much more to both their stories that I'm dying to see what the future holds for both couples.
I received an ARC from Megan in exchange for an honest opinion. I enjoyed this book so much that I did purchase it to add to my collection so that while I wait for the next book in the series I can get a Hunter fix from time to time :)
This book has the potential to be so much better had it focused on: 1. Self placed blame dealing with the accident 2. Grief for the accident and pains of almost losing two loved ones. 3. The accident and the affects it left on Mackenzie when she wakes up and how she deals with it and her new baby. 4. Hunter and Mackenzie coping to their new life with a baby and her injuries and needing constant help. 5. Mackenzie never breastfeeding her baby and maybe how that could affect her.
Instead we get unnecessary drama with: 1. Brittany 2. Lynn 3. Jason 4. Lily I'm sure at least two of these people are helping to set up the next books.
In the end: 1. The book had no depth. 2. A lot of partying/drinking,drama, crying and fighting, and dumping the kid on family for two newly parents. 3. The book made me feel like the characters were juvenile. 4. CC was ridiculous to me a lot. 5. Too many lies and secrets and hiding stupid things.
One positive: Hunter tried hard to be a great dad, fiancé, and son. He works his butt off to protect his family and always show love and loyalty to them. He was mostly and pretty much the only responsible adult between him and CC.
MacKenzie and Hunter believe a baby's bodily functions are more interesting and more important that mentioning to anyone that a girl with serious problems - that requires a therapist- tried to kill MacKenzie. Because they both think karma will do the job and get that woman out of the way.
I'm glad they are not my parents.
And on another note: if your story is 70% nonsense about babies' bodily functions, don't write it (unless it's non fiction, of course).
omg I cried like a baby at the end of trying not to love you. I really hope kenzie aka CC makes it. I don't think the next book will be worth reading if she dose not. I also hope that there are more books with the others pov. I hate to say this but I hope Dominic get his on book and happily ever after. ok so I have read this book and I can not wait for the next. I have a feeling it will be about mason. it just has to be with the way this book ended. I would also like to see the wedding.
Omg I almost cried in the ending of the first book please let Kenzie survive it will suck if she doesn't .Brittany need to get arrested and charged with attempt murder and if Kenzie does die she should also be charged with murder ugh I wish the brothers beat the fuck out of Brittany that crazy dumb hoe . I'm so upset now.
Well after the cliffhanger we were left with at the end of Trying Not to Love You, I knew that Megan was going to come out guns a blazing...
Hunter vows to protect this fiance and child from anything that may cause them danger. We already know how protective MacKenzie's brothers are. For years, MacKenzie's family has been keeping a few secrets from her. One pertaining to her family directly and one concerning Hunter's family. Will MacKenzie understand why they kept these secrets from her? Will she see it as if they didn't trust her? Why did everyone know, but her? Will MacKenzie be able to forgive those who she loves because they have been lying to her, her entire life?
Both Hunter and MacKenzie (a/k/a CC) have grown since they first started dating. I felt as though Hunter treats CC as his equal, now that they were engaged. CC is his partner in life. It is easy to love her, as Hunter says. Yes, Hunter knew the secret that her family was keeping from her, however, it wasn't his place to tell her. That was up to her family on when they thought MacKenzie should know.
Yes, Hunter kept a BIG secret of his own from her, but I understand why he did it. After CC's accident, she didn't need any unnecessary added stress, so he did what he thought was best to protect CC and his child. Did that mean that he didn't trust CC to handle the truth from his past? NO !! It meant that he wanted to tell her at a more appropriate time. At least that is what I thought. Hunter would never intentionally hurt CC. While Hunter is trying to find the right time to tell CC what he has been keeping from her for all these years, Hunter uncovers "another" secret, one that he didn’t even see coming.
Now let's discuss Mason. Mason never ceases to amaze me. Yes, he was a pompous ass in Trying to Love Me. Yes, we all wanted to smack him upside his head. He is an OVER PROTECTIVE brother to say the least. Was the secret that Hunter was keeping from CC, the real reason why Mason didn't want Hunter dating his sister? Did Mason not think Hunter was good enough for MacKenzie? Mason is in a league of his own amongst these characters. He is definitely a ladies man. Will Hailey be able to handle Mason? Does Mason want to settle down and be exclusive with Hailey? Do Hailey and Mason has a future? You'll just have to read the book.
Cooper, Cooper, Cooper. Cooper and Jaylinn's relationship has my head spinning. I can not for the life of me figure out what is going on between the two of them. Do they have feelings for each other? Are they dating? They are always together, but I just can't put my finger on what is going on with them. You can definitely see there is chemistry between them, but will either of them act on it.
There were quite a number of twists and turns in Easy to Love You. Some of which I NEVER saw coming. I think Megan knocked the ball out of the park with Easy to Love You. I felt as though the story flowed effortlessly and I was captivated from start to finish. I am looking forward to seeing what the future has in store for Mason and Hailey. Oh boy, I already know I will have whiplash from these two...
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This second book in the Love series picks up right where Trying Not To Love Youleaves off. A horrible accident has put everything Hunter cares about in jeopardy and everyone is left waiting to see whether their lives will be changed forever.
Hunter and MacKenzie have finally overcome the initial obstacles involved in their getting together, but now we see several other challenges thrown their way and they will continue to be tested to see if their relationship can withstand a variety of revelations and catastrophes.
I think what I like best about this series are the strong friendship and family bonds that flow throughout all the main characters in this book. No matter what, it is clear just how much everyone cares about each other even though everyone has complications in their relationships. There is a mysterious element to this book and some of the information revealed brings up a whole lot of questions that we the reader are now left to wonder about and wait for answers to. We learn a little about Hunter's traumatic past and some crazy new family connections that may have lasting repercussions in his relationship with MacKenzie. We also learn some really unexpected information about MacKenzie's family that will likely have an impact on future books in the series.
I struggled with just how many secrets were kept from MacKenzie by virtually every character in the book in the name of protecting her. It started feeling a little ridiculous that multiple secrets were continuing to being kept even as MacKenzie made everyone aware that she knew information was being kept from her, and was upset that she was the only one left in the dark. Based on what these secrets were, the reasoning behind keeping those bits of information from her never made much sense to me.
Hunter and MacKenzie's connection when things are going smoothly between them continues to be very strong and very hot. I kept hoping that they would be able to keep their relationship going since they so clearly care about one another. I also enjoyed getting a couple little bits from Hailey and Mason's perspective. Even though I often wanted to throttle Mason, I am hopeful that he and Hailey will be able to make their relationship work. There are a lot of loose ends left at the end of this book. I'm hoping that in addition to wrapping up the immediate issues, we might get to know more about Jaylinn and Cooper in future installments.
I would recommend this series since the characters are enjoyable and the story has gone in a couple directions I didn't expect. Some of the dialogue is a little choppy, and something has kept me from feeling like I'm fully engrossed in the story to the extent that I feel like I'm experiencing what the characters are going through. Overall though, I'm curious to see where things go and will likely continue reading the next books in the series.
I cannot get over how disappointed I was in this book.
I bought the first one awhile ago, and after reading the reviews, decided to wait for Book 2's release to read them because of the cliffhanger. I wasn't totally impressed with the first book, but since I had already purchased Book 2, I figured I'd give it a try.
Needless to say, I will not be continuing this series. This book was so out of reality and weird that I actually scoffed halfway through. Between the FBI, bank robber dad, and psychotic sister, this book was in no way realistic. I still do not comprehend how it got such good reviews.
On the upside, the proofreading was MUCH better this time around. Not perfect, but not as distracting as the first book. I cannot honestly recommend this book to someone, but it may just be me that didn't like it based on other reviews. Check it out and decide for yourself.
“This is going to be the last time, ever, that we have to spend the night apart. You’re mine baby.”
My Review:
Oh swoon! Still enjoying Megan Smith’s breezy writing and smokin’ hot and steamy writing. She has adding in some plot twists into the mix and lots of soap opera style antics and revelations… yet, oh my, can’t seem to put these down - I don’t even want to answer the phone when it rings.
Hunter has a lot going on with his newborn son and his fiancée Kenzie still in coma and is more than thrilled when she finally gets better. But from there, their personal drama increases dramatically. Kenzie has to adjust to being a new mother to her baby son, feeling insecure. Especially because of this nurse, caring for her son and fiancé, who now also will come home with her. Brittany is still around, convinced that Kenzie's baby is Dominic's and so is Hunter's estranged, criminal father, who seems to show up randomly wherever they are. And Kenzies father has secret...
As the first book was a solid read and ended with a cliffhanger, I needed to have this one. And I loved how the start of this overlapped with the end of the first book. And that it was written from Hunter's perspective. But same as the first book I really liked the plot and how the story generally developed but there were also many eye-rolling moments. Like the telling-not-showing ones. I really get irritated by "she said, joking" and he said, fooling with her".
I liked being suprised quite a few times. When I expected drama, there was none. But there was a lot of drama I didn't see coming. Or I saw it coming but it happened much later. I liked most of the cast and they were mostly understandable in their feelings. Kenzies insecurity, the jealousy, Hunter being torn and Mason, having his own voice now, also got less ridiculous. That nurse was a good addition, the whole new group of people was interesting.
I didn't get that time passing without much happening. It's too random and completely uneccessary. And does Jason now just stay away? Seems kinda easy.
What I hated was all the secrets all the time. Kenzie remembers Brittany at the accident and of all people, the only one she tells about it is her ex who cheated on her with Brittany? And Hunter, plus Kenzie's whole family, know it was Brittany but they don't want to tell her? This is just stupid. I don't get her, I get him being stressed out by finding out all that stuff, needing to deal with it and waiting for the right moment. And especially she behaves immature. And hypocritical when she finds out. But basically not talking - at all - about the accident is unnatural. Also I don't get how there are no consequences.
I'll definetely go for the next book in the series because they're just so easy to listen to and I really want to know, where things are going from here. And the end was a really good one. And there are still a few question I'd like to be answered. And for Kenzie to learn that Hailey knew because especially Jaylinn didn't deserve the hate. I think the author should think about including consequences.
I think a more apt title for this book is Easy to love Hunter. I have to say after the first book I was pretty smitten with Hunter and well after the 2nd let's just say head over heels didn't quite cut it.
So when we left off in book one with a pretty BIG cliffy, MacKenzie better knows as CC to her family and friends, was apparently loosing her life. After a horrific car accident she is fighting for her life. Not only was she fighting for her life but for the life of her unborn child. I wasn't sure what would happen in this book but I couldn't wait to devour it. I stayed up pretty much most of the night to finish it and it was worth every bit of lost sleep.
As much as this story continued to be about Hunter and CC, we still had all the familiar characters present and pretty prominent in this book. One thing that I love about these books is that as a family they are close and it shows how much they love and support each other.
So when CC wakes up she is disoriented and doesn't remember much, but it does all come rushing back to her and she hides something from Hunter about the accident and what she remembers. I really felt bad for her she was having a bit of a struggle adjusting and their was this crazy pesky nurse that seemed to be in the way and making her crazy at times. Yeah that's a twisted little secret part of the story. I won't give you details but when you find out who this woman really is you might want to choke someone....
As the story moves along we find out a lot more about Hunter's past and a person that reappears and is not welcome, brings new stress to their already stressful situation. Hunter as always will go to any length to protect his family and that doesn't just me CC and his child, his mom and sister as well. Have I mentioned how much I love Hunter. He is strong, supportive and so understanding of CC when she comes home from the hospital. And they both adjust really well to parenthood, which for a young couple isn't easy to do but with the love of their friends and family they are able to overcome just about any situation. Including the accident that almost stole CC and their child away. My heart broke for Hunter a lot during this book. He was truly stressed and made some not so great decisions, but he truly was doing what he thought was best. Though it wasn't perceived that way at all.
There were some unbelievable twists in this story that I never saw coming. I remember messaging Megan in between readings and doing a SAY WHAT? Did that really just happen! Yeah there are quiet a few of those moments that will leave you questioning things... Don't worry you'll get all the answers by the end of the book... There were some heartbreaking moments that made me ugly cry and made my heart hurt. I wanted nothing more then to see these two live happily ever after, with all that they already had gone through it was hard to read the trials that they would still face...
I love how believable the story is and that I can really see most of it happening in life. I have the line from a song in my head from Aerosmith. "Life's a Journey, not a destination." and that couldn't be more fitting for Hunter and MacKenzie. Their story isn't about the destination at all it's about the Journey and all the mistakes you make along the way help you become a stronger person and make you grow and realized what you have sometimes is worth all the pain it took to get there.
You will not be disappointed in this sequel. Megan did a fantastic job weaving the story and intricate plot line. There were a lot of things to work through in this book. At the end I felt like CC and Hunter could finally put the past where it belonged and move toward a future hopefully filled with a lot less drama... But... After reading the last few paragraphs, that's doubtful... This should be one crazy wedding with her brother now on her hit list... I can't wait to see where this family leads us next! I give Megan 5 Stars for this fantastic sequel. I couldn't have asked for more of out this book... Well maybe I could have but because some books you just never want to see end... I think you will truly Enjoy this book and the series if you haven't read them yet!
Oh my goodness!!! If you thought Trying Not to Love You was awesome.... just wait until you read Easy To Love You!!! Megan Smith seriously is an evil genius when it comes to writing stories that suck the reader into her fictional world and will not release you until you are 100% finished with the book!! I laughed, cried, yelled, and wanted to punch someone... AKA Brittany... in her throat!
Easy To Love You picks right up where TNTLY left off. We are allowed deeper into Hunter and Kenzie's life, but with some major obstacles happening in between them and everyone else. Secrets are exposed that threaten to destroy the relationships of the people we adore! I loved that we were also able to get to know Hailey and the Cahill brothers even more and I am dying to know what happens with Hailey and Mason. I left off reading this book so entirely pissed at him that it will take a miracle for him to win me back!!
Hunter is as usual MY HERO!! I love that guy! He really steps up to being a Daddy and makes me fall even harder for him. He oozes sex, charisma, and sensitivity that I would fight for him myself! There were parts where I thought Kenzie was being an idiot, but then I would think about it from her stand point and totally agree with her. Their family dynamics are so adorable and intriguing, that you can't help but feel like you are part of it yourself.
I would love to go on and on about Easy To Love You, but I will not give any spoilers seeing as how I think everyone needs to read this book like 10 minutes ago!! I easily give ETLY 5 stars on the knock my socks off scale... If my scale went higher, I would bump that baby up to that number! Megan Smith doesn't fail in writing a book that brings out lots of emotions and keeps me coming back for more!
Story picked up from where it left off.... and Hunter steps up for Mackenzie, never leaving her side, taking care of her and their newborn. Then his past comes backs to haunt him.
I love the first book, but this one got me all confused! What's up with all the lies?
Mackenzie's family is keeping things from her to protect her, now Hunter's keeping things from her for all the same reason and it all just piled up, I don't understand why and it's just irritating! And the story pretty much circulates around this "protect Mackenzie let's keep her blind!"
And what's up with Jason's father really? Cause to the end I see no sense in it? Why didn't Mackenzie let Brittany get away with what she did? What's up with Lynn? First she flirt with Hunter then next she's dating Hunter's father?!
It is frustrating cause it gets you intrigued on what's going on but then it was just left as that....
I enjoyed reading Hunter's POV, it's good that Mason is with Hailey.... while Jaylinn is with Cooper. I hope the next book will answer those holes left in this book.
In "Trying Not to Love You" we were left with a cliffhanger, we finally get to see what went down, in Hunter's point of view and it clears up a lot of what happened in the incident, which I might say I'm grateful for because I'm the type of person that likes details. So the first few chapters are a rough read. You could tell how much Kenzie means to Hunter, "what the eff is happening in there?" He's also a determined man when it comes to his son and girl, "yeah, I'm not leaving unless they're both with me." Kenzie, she's still a firecracker, and will not let no one stand between her and her man, "tomorrow please and just so you know by the end of the week, I won't need your assistance. I'll figure out a way to this on my own." I liked when Hunter and Kenzie are together, they're playful and seem at ease, "be careful," I laughed. "You might get breast milk all over you. God only knows when this sh** stops, I'm not even breast feeding." And when sometimes happens between her brother and BFF she's always there the good, the bad, and the punching a girl in the face for taking something to far or doing something at all, "I walked up to Lily and punched her straight in the face." I'm seriously looking forward to Mason and Hailey's story.
"Easy To Love You" is the second book in the Love Series. It picks up right where "Trying Not To Love You" left off. What a cliffhanger that one was!! After reading TNTLY I didn't think I could fall any more in love with Hunter than I already had. Wrong!! In ETLY you get to read from a few of the characters' points-of-view and I loved that. Megan Smith did an amazing job writing and really got into the characters' heads. While reading this book, you really feel like you are there with the gang when they are hanging out together. At the same time, when things go down (and they do go down!) you can feel the emotions that they feel. I will be honest, the first few chapters of this one I was keeping the Kleenex company in business but they were happy tears I swear! Hunter is AMAZING! You could definitely feel how much he loves CC and their baby. This book is filled with love, laughs, tears and plenty of drama. I will warn you, there is a cliffhanger at the end. However, it is a small one and nowhere near the cliffhanger that there was at the end of the first book! If you are looking for a true love story, this series is for you!
This book is amazing! There is so much emotion packed in this book it left me breathless at times. It's impossible to put it down because you can't wait to see what happens next. Let me just say that Hunter is my new crush. Omg! While Mackenzie was recovering in the hospital from the car wreck he stepped up and took care of baby Ryder. His love for Mackenzie is so powerful. This author does a wonderful job of displaying it. Such love, emotion, and hot scenes. There is also so much drama and suspense. Loved every second of this book. All of these characters are amazing. I loved reading it from all their points of view. Cannot wait for the next book. Omg a must read!!!!
