The Geek Girl series are some of those books that are perfect for a lazy day; they read easily and fly by in one sitting, and are stuffed with cuteness. While I do have my nitpicks, Picture Perfect was a highly enjoyable read, and I’m very curious about what Holly Smale has in store for us next.
Ever since Harriet stopped modelling, her life has pretty much gotten back to how it started; with her best friend, Nat, stalker, Toby and Alexa who just cannot pass Harriet without a snarky remark. Once again, there’s no failing to make me click with Harriet, I absolutely love her; she stands strong by her own beliefs and doesn’t just let a mean girl change the way she views herself. However, I did find Harriet to be a little overly-dramatic at times—which I didn’t mind, but sometimes it became a little too ridiculously absurd. Qualm aside, Harriet’s overflowing supply of totally-random-facts were a great touch.
Admittedly, I was worried about a love triangle arising in this novel after reading the synopsis; but that’s not the case at all. Harriet and Nick’s relationship stayed true—and we as readers can tell that Nick truly cares about Harriet—even though Harriet herself might not see it. However, their romance did hit a huge bump in this novel because Nick barely has time to stop and breathe as he is a model, let alone have time to be with Harriet. There are some misunderstandings and other dramas going on—including another interested party—but it wasn’t as annoying as I had thought it were to be. In my opinion, everything was developed realistically and I found it to be very entertaining.
While I find the Geek Girl series to be very fun, I feel that the characters need—deserve—more substance. We get a lot of background about Harriet since she’s the main character, but I think there should be a greater focus on the supporting characters, especially Nat; I want to know more about her life. As for Nick, we do get to know him better in this novel, mainly towards the end of the novel since he’s pretty MIA throughout the first half (don’t worry, we still get flashbacks of Harriet and Nick); and he’s still as sweet and caring as ever.
Criticisms aside, Picture Perfect was a pleasant novel that kept me entertained during the entire novel. It’s cute and fun (like I’ve said a million times already), so I recommend you all to pick up a copy.

I know that I can always turn to this series when I'm in a slump or just gave up on a bad book, and Harriet Manners will put me back on speaking terms with reading. They're the easiest and most fun books to read when you need that kind of thing, her story is so much like a sitcom that you get swept away and finish it all to quickly.
In this instalment Harriet moves to New York (ish) and does some real growing up (finally!) I'm glad the next book is already out so I can keep it for future DNF emergencies.

Picture Perfect, I always thought, was my least favourite book in the series, but by re-reading it I've realised that I was remembering it as worse that it is. Sure, there's a lot of drama, and mishandling of situations (Harriet wouldn't be the same if she didn't slam a couple doors) but the strong family dynamic is still there, and it just adds another piece of the puzzle to Nick and Harriet's relationship. Needs more Toby, though.

This was definitely not as good as Model Misfit, but it was still intensely sweet, hilarious and well-written. Harriet Manners is one of my all-time favourite protagonists, and I'll always love picking up a book that she's narrating. However, this book felt a little bit... pointless? It didn't feel quite like a 'filler' story that these sorts of sequel often do, but there seemed to be a lack of plot nonetheless. I understand it focused more on Harriet coming to terms with why she was in the fashion industry if she didn't like it and what it meant to be grown-up, but behind all this there wasn't a lot. The setting was, of course, fantastic. The secondary characters were, again, simply incredible, but they were sorely missed for the most part and I wished (like the last time) Nick/Lion Boy was a more central characters to the story.
Overall, this was a good book but not exactly a good sequel. I wasn't disappointed by it, but it could have been as good as Model Misfit if it tried a little more. I look forward to All That Glitters!

Harriet is so young and naive. She keeps letting the wrong people influence her and doubt. I do enjoy these books though. Interested to see what happens in the following books

Me gusta Geek girl porque es de esos libros que parecen simples pero que consiguen entrar dentro de ti de alguna manera. Me gusta porque demuestra que Harriet, a pesar de intentar ser una adulta, no deja de ser una adolescente con sus celos e inseguridades, que no es perfecta y que las cosas no son fáciles. Y que a pesar de todo y parecer que el libro no representa una gran historia, es capaz de sacarte una sonrisa con finales como este.
Me gusta Geek girl porque es de esos libros que parecen simples pero que consiguen entrar dentro de ti de alguna manera. Me gusta porque demuestra que Harriet, a pesar de intentar ser una adulta, no deja de ser una adolescente con sus celos e inseguridades, que no es perfecta y que las cosas no son fáciles. I love the Geek Girl-series, they are so fun and easy and just cute. And I adore Harriet. And Wilbur. Gosh, this series is so much fun.

Audiobook Review:
You guys, this series is now officially one of my favorites. Each book is just as good, if not better, than the last. I adore Harriet Manners and her adorable, quirky, unique self. Getting to see Harriet in New York in Picture Perfect was a wonderful treat. I love experiencing all of Harriet’s travels, which are never lacking when it comes to clumsiness, snarky girls, and loads of adorable drama.
There’s always a little bit of romance in these books, but this one seemed to center a bit more on that aspect. Harriet isn’t boy crazy, but with her first “real” boyfriend by her side, she’s full of awkward situations and loads of laughs.
I chose the audiobook route with this one, as I have with the entire series so far. Katey Sobey IS Harriet to me, but it doesn’t stop there. She brings these characters to a whole new level that I honestly feel I couldn’t experience to this extreme level by reading it myself. I HIGHLY recommend this series on audio. I have so much love for this series!

Ik hou hou hou van deze serie! De schrijfstijl vol zelfspot en weetjes en romantiek en hilariteit is telkens weer geweldig en ik vond het verhaal ook echt heel leuk. Mooi om een Harriet te zien die zich opeens moet bewijzen buiten het modellenwerk on, maar ik vond het ook tof hoe ze daar toch weer in belandt en voor wil gaan en dat het wereldje nu een grotere rol speelt. Heerlijk, binnenkort door met deel 4!

Esta é daquelas séries que vejo muito poucas pessoas a ler ou a comentar. Até me admiro como ainda continua a sair cá mas bem não vou agoirar.
Gostei mas não tanto como o segundo livro. Ainda assim, o mais importante nesta série nem é a história mas sim a sua protagonista, Harriet. Mais uma vez toma má decisões atrás de péssimas escolhas mas no fundo consegue aprender com os seus erros. Vamos ver como será o 4º volume, visto que ficaram algumas coisas em aberto.

A mudança do cenário de Inglaterra para o outro lado do Atlântico foi muito boa, apesar de ser uma mudança curta. O engraçado é que a autora explora vários países ao longo da série, o segundo livro foi passado em grande parte do Japão e agora temos o lado americano.
Claro que aventuras não vão faltar à nossa geek preferida. Mal chega a solo americano, percebe que não consegue integrar-se tão facilmente como pensava e para piorar, parece que o seu namorado e a sua melhor amiga estão demasiado ocupados com as suas vidas e já a esqueceram. Além disso, Harriet não vai bem para Nova York....portanto o seu sonho de morar num prédio com porteiro e no coração da cidade como nos filmes, vai por água abaixo!
Nem tudo vai ser mau, pois temos o regresso do Wilbur que arranja um novo trabalho para a nossa modelo preferida e mesmo contra a vontade dos pais, Harriet não resiste em entrar novamente no mundo louco da moda. Claro que isto irá trazer muitos problemas e muito drama mas também muita aprendizagem para a nossa nerd.

Mais um livro desta série aprovado, são livros ideais para adolescentes a partir dos 13 anos. Apesar de ter a opção de continuar com a série em inglês, tenho gostado do trabalho da tradução em português, portanto vou esperar pelo 4º livro na minha língua.

This was an okay story, but it didn’t hold my attention very well.
Harriet continued to do silly things in this book, and made plenty of questionable decisions too. She really does need to think about what she’s doing before she does it.
The storyline in this had Harriet and her family moving to America, with her nemesis Alexa stealing her diary before she left. This was all okay, but wasn’t really enough to keep me entertained.
We did get a bit of romance, but not much really.
The ending to this was okay, but this wasn’t a favourite for me.

LOVED THIS BOOK!
Book 1: loved!
Book 2: found quite boring,
so my expectations for book 3 weren't that high, but god was I wrong.
Book 3 reminded me why I loved the first book, I must have cried at least 3 times.
DEFINITELY the best in the series so far!

In Picture Perfect, Harriet gets another modeling job and goes to New York... or so she thinks. The author really transports you to Harriet's world and you really get attached to the characters. This is a great book and I loved it so much ❤

I enjoyed the previous books in the Geek Girl and this third one was no exception.
Oh, if I wanted to find faults with it, I could. And this time, more than before, I wanted to headdesk Harriet for being so .. so .. well, teen girl, I suppose. But quite frankly while some of her antics made me wince this time, there are plenty of teenagers who do stupid, spur-of-the-moment decisions and need to make some mistakes before learning from them, so I can't really say it's unrealistic.
Picture Perfect has a heavier focus on romance than the first two books, but while I don't generally care for that (and while I'm not the world's biggest fan of Nick, although he finally started to grow on me a little in this book), I didn't mind it here: the book is, really, all about Harriet finding herself and coming to terms with what's important, and it does rather make sense that to a 16-year-old girl, her first boyfriend is one of those things.
Basically, for some reason, this series has just struck a chord in me. It's not my usual sort of fare at all, and the cynical part of me isn't necessarily thrilled with the uplifting endings, but then there's that (usually well-hidden) idealist part of me that ... doesn't really mind.

Esta saga para mi cada vez mejora más. Me rio muchísimo con su protagonistas y sus ocurrencias y veo perfecta la saga para los más jóvenes ya que acompañamos siempre a Harriet, viendo como poco a poco va dejando atrás su inocencia para crecer.

I'm not going to write a proper review, because none of my thoughts have really changed from the last 3 reviews I've written for this contemporary series.
I will mention however that I love that Harriet's fun facts are becoming more related to the topic of the natural sciences now -- she's mentioning things more on chemistry, physics, animal biology, human physiology -- and I'm really into it. For one, because I personally knew a lot of the facts that were mentioned, so it's easier for me to believe in this fictional character Smale created that seems to know everything about everything (although when Harriet mentions specific numbers, like the Earth is 4582903202389430 (or something) unit of measure from Venus, it starts becoming far-fetched to me again). And secondly, I'm really into science, I've always been into science, so when I learn about something I didn't know about something science related, I find it really cool (like how toads literally heave their guts and use their hands to wipe off the toxin that's surrounding their stomach).
Harriet's immaturity really comes to surface in this book, more so than in the other ones, but Smale has a way of adding so much humour into the books, that your reading experience is still bearable and even enjoyable (despite having most books with immature characters annoy me, given that I'm 22 already and so over petty high school teen drama).

THE STORY | Harriet Manners is about to go on the adventure of a lifetime. Along with her parents and baby sister, Harriet is now in New York. All of this is thanks to a six-month job her father recently accepted. REVIEW | I’ve mentioned numerous times my love of the Geek Girl series. Part of this is because, here in the States, they seem really underrated (they are written by a British author and first published in the U.K.), but maybe that’s just my perception. Either way, these books are adorable.
Inside these pages, we see Harriet in an entirely new way. No longer is she the docile geek character we’ve come to love. She tries on the shoes of rebellion in this novel, and though it goes against everything Harriet is, we still love her. Book three seems like the perfect place to make a bit of a change in this character’s life, and her personality isn’t the only thing that changes. While I won’t say what else undergoes change, I will say, you may close this book with a tiny bit of heartbreak.
The “adventure” of this novel is fantastic. Even though it comes with a defiant Harriet, the story is still entertaining. I also love that we see the character explore new surroundings in an entirely new place. The adventure of the story is fun and makes for a new kind of “statement” to this story.

THE STORY | Harriet Manners is about to go on the adventure of a lifetime. Along with her parents and baby sister, Harriet is now in New York. All of this is thanks to a six-month job her father recently accepted. Suddenly what was once going to be a drab season at home (without her boyfriend or best friend), suddenly turns into anticipation for what’s next. She’ll be able to spend nights with her boyfriend, Nick and they’ll be spending those nights out in New York City.
Unbeknownst to Harriet, her father’s job is in New York, but the family will settle in a suburb that’s not exactly anything like New York. Devastated, Harriet tries to make the best of it and still feels further away from Nick than ever. When everyone seems to forget Harriet exists, she decides it’s time she met New York City…

Andrea will be interviewing some of the main characters in this book: Harriet, Nick, Caleb, Toby, Natalie and last of all Alexa.
Andrea: Good morning everyone!
Audience: Good morning Peace!
Andrea: *Beams* What a lovely day for an interview. Am I right Harriet?
Harriet: *Shifts uncomfortably in seat* Yes. Right. I'm sorry but how many people are watching this?
Andrea: Oh, ya know, about 100,000.
Harriet: *Pales*
Andrea: Anyway, I have gathered you all here to ask a few questions to each and every one of you. Even you, Alexa.
Alexa: Whatever. I don't even remember agreeing to this!
Andrea: Hon, you didn't. I forced you here.
Alexa: *Stares at Peace Love*
Andrea: *Claps hands and looks away* Okay then! Let's start with the questions!
Andrea: *Looks at Nick suggestively* So, you and Harriet are on pause, correct?
Nick: *Nods* Yup.
Andrea: So, most of the ladies out there want to know if that means you're single.
Harriet: * Freckles darken and looks at Nick for answer*
Nick: *Fiddles nervously* Sorry, but I only have eyes for one girl.
Everyone: Awwww.
Andrea: How romantic. Okay, next question directed to Toby.
Toby: Me? Really?
Andrea: *Nods* Yes, we are quite fond of your weirdness.
Toby: Oh, did you know that th-
Andrea: Yes we did. Now, the question. Will you ever stop stalking Harriet?
Toby: *Thinks* I don't think I will, actually.
Harriet: *Moves away a bit*
Toby: Harriet is like, a magnet. You feel drawn towards her. Well, I do. Stalking Harriet is really the only way I get to know her better, because obviously she won't tell me her deepest darkest secrets willingly. So, not now, I won't stop. Until I'm satisfied.
Andrea: Okay then! Now, for Alexa. *Creepy smile*
Alexa: *Shifts in seat* What?
Andrea: How did you feel when Harriet didn't care about you having her diary?
Alexa: I'm not going to answer that.
Andrea: *Laughs* Oh! That's soo cute! You think you have a choice, haha.
Alexa: *Scowls* Okay. I felt really shocked and angry because my plan backfired. I expected her to burst into tears or something, not start handing out my flyers to everyone! Then when my little group started criticizing my plan, I felt really, *gulps* I uh, alone.
Audience: Awww.
Andrea: I guess this excuse of a human being DOES have feelings!
Everyone: *Laughs except Alexa*
Andrea: Okay, now Harriet. Did you ever develop feelings for Caleb? Even a tiny bit?
Caleb and Nick: *Looks at Harriet then glares at each other*
Andrea: Oh, and Nick, don't hate Harriet forever if her answer isn't quite what you expected.
Nick: *Grumbles and looks away*
Harriet: I guess, I didn't develop feelings. I just started to like hi-
Nick: I thought you said you didn't like him!
Harriet: I'm not finished. Anyway, I guess I started to like him as a friend.
Andrea: That's absolutely great!! Not for us Haleb shippers out there of course, but still great!
Harriet: *Blinks* I'm sorry, Haleb shippers?
Andrea: *Grins* Oh, it's our ship name for you guys. You and Caleb. Caleb and you.
Harriet: Caleb and I. I'm sorry, but it just doesn't . . .
Andrea: Yeah, well I doubt that there are any Haleb shippers left after Caleb's true colours were reviled . . . *Glares at Caleb*
Caleb: *Casually looks away while whistling*
Andrea: Okay, next question. Caleb, will you ever stop being a 'MC'?
Caleb: *Frowns* I'm sorry, MC?
Andrea: Call on Fleur please! Everyone, welcome our special guest, Fleur!
Fleur: * Walks onto stage and shyly smiles and waves* Hi everyone! Thanks for having me hear Peace Love!
Andrea: The pleasure is all ours! Now, Fleur, please explain to us what a 'MC' is.
Fleur: *Scratches neck* Well, it's really just a term I made up for people like Caleb.
Caleb: Uh, right here!
Fleur: *Rolls eyes* Interesting discovery.
Andrea: SLAAAYYYYYYY! *Clears throat and sits down* You were saying?
Fleur: MC, which stand for a Model Chaser is a guy or girl, mostly guys who crash fashion parties and photo shoots so he can get as near to any of us as possible.
Caleb: *Shrugs and leans back in chair* I aint gonna deny it.
Andrea: Harriet, how did you feel when Fleur told you this?
Harriet: Kind of disappointed. I mean, it could have been the start of a beautiful friendship . . .
Caleb: *Reaches out and holds her hand* It still can be.
Nick: *Stands up angrily* Get your hands off my girl.
Caleb: *Raises eyebrow* I thought you were on pause.
Nick: Why you little-
Andrea: *Quickly stands up and claps hands* OKAY!! Last question for Natalie. What would you do if I brought Jessica out here, right now?
Natalie/ Nat: *Groans* I would probably leave. That girl bores me to dea-
Andrea: *Smirks evily* Lets welcome our other special guest . . . Jessica!!
Natalie/Nat: *Stares wide-eyed at door as Jessica walks out*
Jessica: *Sits In seat next to Nat* Hi Nat!
Harriet: She does look like me . . .
Jessica: Are you Harriet?
Harriet: Yup! Jessica, I presume.
Jessica: Yes! You're that geeky girl that knows a lot of facts!
Harriet: Uh . . .
Andrea: Okay folks! That's i- Wait, Nat, where are you going?
Natalie: *Walking towards door* I told you I would leave.
Andrea: It's the end of the interview anyway! Hope you now know more about the characters anyway, even though I'm not their creators!
Harriet, Nat, Nick, Caleb, Fleur, Toby, Jessica and Alexa: *Turns to stare at Peace Love* Huh?
Andrea: *Eyes widens* Oh-uh, I uh . . . Huh?
Everyone: Huh?
Andrea: *Discreetly creeps to the exit* Huh?
Everyone: Huh?
Peace Love: GOODNIGHT AMERICA! *runs*
