ON CHRISTMAS DAY… the life of Dr. Caroline Stern changed forever. Her husband was murdered, her baby son kidnapped. When she found the boy again, he was with his biological father - a man Caroline never intended to meet.

There seems no obvious tie between Jack Briscoe and the violence of sixteen months prior, but Caroline just wants her son back - something Jack seems unwi

So, I Read This Book Today
Ugh. Must we push ALL my hot buttons?
I received this book from the publisher in return for a realistic review, and as I promised the review I am going to write it. Though I have to admit, had I not promised, I wouldn’t write one at all. This book brought out a very visceral, very pissed-off vibe in me that really made me want to scream and throw the book across the room. The thing is, that is a personal reaction to the situation in the book, not really a comment on the author or the story, so

Caroline never thought her life could be fraught with such heartache. This was supposed to be the happiest time of her life. She and Aaron had promising medical careers and a beautiful new baby boy they had wanted so badly. It didn't matter if he was conceived with the help of a fertility clinic. He was still their baby. It was Christmas day and as they headed to Aaron's family, they had no idea Evil was following. Such evil as would rob Caroline of the family she loved.
Jack had wanted a famil

--A complimentary copy was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.--

After I finished Solomon's Choice, I spent a little time thinking about the novel. In general, I enjoyed the story, but I felt it ran a little long. The more I thought about that point, the more I realized the pace of the book made sense because the relationship between Caroline and Jack took a while to evolve. Not to mention both of them had issues to deal with and “dragons to slay” before they got to a point w

Wow, what a heartbreaking and heartwarming story. I felt so sad for most of this book. Caroline had one blow after another. I felt so much for her. It almost made this book drag on because of all the pain and suffering that Caroline and Jack went through in their lives. I loved their characters and the strength they had through the book. I also loved the town and how it supported them so much. The small town feel really popped of the pages in this story. So did all the emotions of the characters ...more

I have to say- I didn't quite know what to expect from this book, given the rather odd story line that it seemed to have. I have to say- I was pleasantly surprised. I rather enjoyed it. There were definitely some moments that made me wonder- how in the world hasn't anyone caught onto what is going on here? Moments that made my heart break for all that Jack and Caroline had to go through in their quests for a child. And definitely moments that made me wonder why they couldn't have found one anoth ...more

Wow, this book was a rollercoaster of emotions. It starts out with a tragedy, then what sounds like a crazy-fun secret baby-esque plot emerges, but your laughter quickly turns into "awwww" as the couple navigates their unique situation and struggles with their growing attraction. Then the story is a delightful second chance romance, underpinned by increasing threats from the scary-yet-interesting villain.

Just when our couple overcomes their personal hurdles, tragedy strikes in the most gut-wrenc
