The Wicked Confessions of Lady Cecelia Stanton by Viveka Portman is a 2013 Escape publishing release. I received a copy of this book from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Round two of Viveka Portman’s Confessions series, The Wicked Confessions of Lady Cecilia Stanton is every bit as entertaining as the first book in the series, The Secret Diary of Lady Catherine Bexley. (click here for my review) Cecilia Stanton is a regency era young woman who has, much to her great delight, just married Lord William Stanton and she is aware of Lor

This may be the steamiest story I've ever read in my entire life. So far.

It isn't thaaaaat steamy, I simply don't read erotica that often xD

This novella consists of a diary written by Lady Cecelia Stanton, married to Lord William Stanton against her will at a very young age. During the years of her life we have access to, her growth is visible. From the scared young woman whose virginity was aggressively taken by her insatiable, rogue husband to a much more promiscuous lady in her fifth

The book’s synopsis sounded intriguing and for the most part in lived up to my expectations. The tone of the book certainly fit the time period in which this novella is set. For a book that wasn’t long, it contained a nicely developed story with interesting characters. Regardless of the book’s length, it managed to entertain me well enough.

I appreciated how the writing properly reflected the time period the story was set in. It was nicely written with a great flow to the story. It did a great jo

The Wicked Confessions of Lady Cecelia Stanton was more focused on sex than historical romance. With how this was described I had expected it to be written in the form of diary entries. However the narration made it hard to follow and it no longer felt like diary entries.

While Lady Cecelia and Bess were interesting characters there was a lack of a real connection. I do not feel like Viveka Portman successfully described Lady Cecelia’s feelings for Bess much less Bess’ feelings for Lady

Viveka Portman's novella is written in diary style. Lady Cecilia writes in her diary while pregnant with her fifth child . She is in the midst of a sexual scandal.

The scandal involves Lady Cecila, her husband Lord William Stanton and Lady Stanton's maid, Bess.I did not care for Lord Stanton as he was a cookie cutter self absorbed rake. That being said, his character was very important to the plot. Cecilia brought her maid Bess with her when she married and this friendship and drives the storyli

I really liked this novella. It is the perfect short story with enough plot to make it interesting but not so much that at the end I felt like I needed more. The plot line was unexpected and I was surprised how it all worked itself out in the end. Very entertaining and solid writing.

I could picture a young innocent in those days with their extreme beliefs about gently bread young ladies. This story is about the journey of the newly married Lady Cecelia Stanton and what she has to do to find ple

Cecelia is married to Lord William Stanton, a marriage arranged by her father when she was eighteen. Naive and inexperienced as to what happens in the marriage bed, William a renowned rake is probably the worst candidate to introduce an innocent to the intimacies of marriage. Fortunately Cecelia has her ladies maid Bess who teaches her that there are pleasures to be found during sex.

This is a well written novella, not exactly my cup of tea. There's definitely no romance, it's all

This story is a short erotic historical in which Lady Cecelia Stanton chronicles her erotic adventures.

Unfortunately, I like plot that makes sense, characters I'm interested in, and sex that's erotic in my erotic fiction and I didn't feel like I got that here.

The whole thing was pretty bare bones and felt more like an outline for a story rather than a complete story in itself. I thought the husband was an extreme douche. I also thoug

The Wicked Confessions of Lady Cecelia Stanton is a short story that falls more into the erotic genre, than into the historical romance genre. A book with such erotic component is not my cup of tea.
The diary/letter format could be interesting, but it makes the narrative difficult to follow. Personally, it frustrated me that the story always focused on the sexual aspects of the couple and the maid Bess. I found myself unable to care for an

For a novella this was well done, with no cliffhangers, developed characters and a sense of completeness within its pages. This is a historical romance erotica not as graphic as some but definitely not lacking in the heat department. Told in the form of a diary entry, Lady Cecilia Stanton, currently pregnant with her fifth child laid bare her marital travails and sexual exploits in the seven years she has been married to her rake of a husband. Surprisingly, its definitely a romance both between ...more

This book is amazing. Nothing is what it seems, and despite being set centuries ago, its intricate plot could have happened today.

A perfect couple at first, but then becomes disconnected during the pregnancy of Lady Cecelia. It could all end like this, but life brought surprises, and these surprises especially delighted her husband.
I can not speak much to not give spoiler. But get ready for a surprise ending.

I wasn't sure at first if this short novella would be easy to read, or if I'd enjoy it. Historical romances aren't my usual reads, but I was curious about Lady Cecilia's life and her erotic confessions. The way it was written made it believable and intriguing. The characters were well developped and even if I didn't approve of her husband's behavior, it fitted with the time.

This novella is a great taste of the writer's style. It tests the boundaries of relationships and normal conventions while adding just enough steaminess to keep true to the genre. It was a wickedly indulgent read & would love to see what the author does in a full novel.

...And what deliciously wicked confessions they are! Viveka Portman's novella blends historical fiction, romance and erotica-with emphasis on the "erotic." The story opens with Lady Cecelia Stanton about to give birth to her fifth child with Lord William Stanton. Lady Cecelia writes in her diary that she wants to confess the intimate details of her marriage to Lord Stanton "in the unfortunate event I do not recover from this birth," and to explain the rumors that have surrounded the couple durin ...more
This novella was a very short synopsis of the "Secret Passion" harbored by Lady Cecilia Stanton. I enjoyed the short story, though it did not provide much character building.

Lady Cecelia married very young, and thus, had to learn how to pleasure her husband,Earl William Stanton, from her handmaid Bess. Under Bess' tutelage, Cecelia also grew to enjoy and crave the soft & feminine touch which was vastly different from her older husband. But make no mistake, Cecelia also enjoyed bedroom play

I want to start by saying that 3 stars is the max star rating I'm really willing to give for such a short story (approximately 50 pages). I thoroughly enjoyed the story, so I'm giving it the highest rating I can for a novella.

The gist: Lady Cecilia is a highborn Lady with "unnatural" sexual desires. 'Nuff said.

I don't want to give away anything about the story that the author didn't say in the synopsis or I didn't say in the gis

The Wicked Confessions Of Lady Cecelia Stanton was one of those books I really didn’t know what to expect from. Historical and erotic tones are not something I’ve read combined before and I was intrigued to see how it would work out written by Viveka Portman.

I loved the periodical tone and how it was always written to the language of the 1800s it was set in. The style of writing in this way did not distract me from the story

Written in diary form, this story adds a nice twist to the historical romance genre, allowing Cecilia to explore her sexual curiosity under the guise of wanting to please her husband. Taking into account the restrictions and expectations for women, her curiosity is ‘unnatural’ and shameful, and Cecilia is a very modern woman in her explorations.

While for the most part I did enjoy Cecilia and appreciate her character, her strength and curiosity were well portrayed, but she was completely naïve i

This erotica novella was a mildly entertaining diversion. Crafted as a series of journal entries, they detail (not that there's a lot of actual detail) the unusual goings on behind closed doors of a 19th century English lady. Basically, after her husband tears her up on their wedding night (as he's supposedly a notorious rake, you'd think he'd know better, but I suppose if you confine your attentions to maids and prostitutes, perhaps not), her maid offers to "t

I've always been a fan of historical romances, there is something about that time frame that is just sexy when written correctly.
