I get that the author was trying to make the reading experience as close to the show as possible, but it made for a really confusing and unenjoyable time.
The whole thing is written in present tense and every line has a dialogue tag. Hook says. Skulley says. Izzy says. Pretty sure she forgot about Cubby until the very end.
The pirates switch between plain English and a crazy pirate lingo at random. It's all peppered in aggressively. My son really wants to read more Neverland Pirates but the only way I'm on board is if we steer clear of this author.
