From one hundred of the world's finest storytellers of the macabre comes an epic anthology of short form terror fiction that will frighten, disturb and delight the reader. With stories from award-winning writers and emerging stars.
This is a big book. 100 stories are packed into this one and I am surprised at how amazing they were. There might have been one or two that didn't grab me, but they are short and still worth a read. Normally I do a breakdown of my favorite stories and why, but with 100 of them to choose from, it's not going to happen. I will mention the gems in this one, the ones that stand out and deserve a 5 1/2 star rating. These are the top 10 in no particular order: Michael Bailey's It Tears Away, Eric J. Guignard's $2 Bust from an Estate Sale, Adam Millard's Tasty, Shaun Meeks' Family Lessons (by far the sickest ending), Marge Simon's Blood on my Tongue, T. Fox Dunham's Debt to the Sea Witch, Chris White's Thud, Marcus Clarke's The Haunted Author, Tim Jeffreys' I Retched Hard & the Man Spewed Forth & Crawled Away (best title too) and Kathy Ferrell's Lantern. But the rest are great too. These just happen to be my favorites. So get the book and pick your own.
This was a fun collection of (very) short stories. A handful of them even managed to scare me! The collection includes some classic short stories towards the end, but at first I found the transition confusing. The older stories aren't really introduced, but overall this was a good, fun anthology.
