Loves Comes Home, by Ann H. Gabhart, is set after World War II when communities were welcoming the soldiers home. This was also happening in Rosey Corner. There are four sisters which are each looking shich will make them feel love. Kate would like to start a family, Evangeline is looking for a beautiful house, Victoria's dreams are grand, and Lorena wants information about her birth family.

This was a good book. Each of the dreams has its own obstacles that stand in the way of making them happen

Library copy. Second in the Rosey Corner series, after Angel Sister and Small Town Girl.

Wow! This is a fabulous book. The author has done it again. There are so many strengths in Ann's writing, it's hard to know where to begin. I will admit that this book did not 'hook' me from the first page, or even page fifty. But once I was 'hooked', I didn't even remember that about the beginning. It is just that good.

There are a good number of characters in Rosey Corner, and they all stick in my mind, even

World War II has ended. Two of the Merritt family's four daughters are happily awaiting the return of their husbands after years of being separated by the war. Sadly, one of the Merritt girls will not be greeting her husband along with the others. Her husband died in the war, leaving her to raise her young daughter without a father. Merritt family ties are strong, and the family gathers together in rural Rosey Corner to celebrate, accompanied by extended family in the community.

Love Comes Home drew me in right from the beginning. It was a joy to catch up on the lives of the Merritt sisters of Rosey Corner at the end of World War II. Ann Gabhart has done a masterful job of showing the reader how residents of a typical small town reacted when their servicemen returned.
On the other side of the issue, the reader also experiences the feelings of those same servicemen when they attempt to integrate what they’ve experienced overseas with the expectations of those who’ve wai

Ann Gabhart does it again! In my own opinion, I think Love Comes Home is her best work yet! The characters stay true to their personalities while learning to deal with the heartbreaks and thrills that comes with growing up.

Each sister is coping with her own personal set of heartaches. The war is over, but for the Merritt sisters, the ending of one tragedy is the beginning of another.

I think readers will thoroughly enjoy this third installment of Ms. Gabhart's Rosey Corner Series. And if I'm co

Love Comes Home is the first book I have read by Ann H. Gabhart. It is the third book in a series called Rosey Corner. The first book in the series is Angel Sister, and the second is Small Town Girl. Love Comes Home was based in Rosey Corner, Kentucky, and was a great book! I obviously haven't read the first two books in this series, but felt that I didn't have to in order to understand the story. Gabhart gives you enough background that you feel as if you know the characters. Although I definet ...more

Love Comes Home is the third book in Ann H. Gabhart’s stories about the small Kentucky town of Rosey Corner. This particular novel is a picture of what life was like for the veterans returning from World War II. Veterans came home to parades and heartfelt welcomes while inwardly they struggled with hyper-vigilance, survivor guilt, and where they fit in the world they were reentering. While Tori mourns her husband’s loss in the war, her sisters Evie and Kate welcome theirs home. Life goes on, but ...more

The Merritt families’ story begins in Angel Sister, followed by Small Town Girl and completed in Love Comes Home. What is very amazing is that the author wrote her books while caring for her mother who has dementia, a very trying and arduous task to say the least. I imagine that for the author sometimes writing is therapy as well as an escape from the realities of caretaking among her everyday life. So God Bless and

Warm, poignant, real, bittersweet, heartwarming, romantic, triumphant . . .

To put it quite simply, I loved everything about this story - the setting, richness of characterization, spiritual inspiration, and the emotional struggle to adapt and find one's place when you're not the same as before. It's an easy, relaxed read, but with such excellent writing, storylines and emotional impact that I never wanted to put it down.

Ann H. Gabhart's Angel Sister and its Great Depression story of the Merritt family and the little girl Lorena that they found on the church steps had to be one of my favorite reads over the past two years. Every character in Rosey Corner added another layer to the story from the family's preacher grandfather to "crazy, scary" Fern who wandered the large woods surrounding the town. That the story of the four sisters (three Merritts and the adopted Lorena Birdsong) returned to share more of their ...more

If you like sweet romance in set in earlier eras, you'll get plenty of it in Ann Gabhart's new novel, Love Comes Home. In it, three sisters are reunited--or not--with their men coming home from World War II. For good or bad, war changes people, and after long years of separation, even the most joyous, longed-for reunion requires some adjustment.

As the story opens in August 1945, all of America is cheering the end of World War II with the announcement of VJ Day. In a small Kentucky town, the four

This is another one of those series that just kills me that I have to wait so long for the next book to come out! I absolutely fell in love with the Merritt family in Angel Sister and delighted in the continued story in Small Town Girl.

Now we come to the third book, Love Comes Home. The story begins just as World War II is declared over. There is great celebrating going on across the country and especially in Rosey Corner. Their men are coming home!

Well, most of the men are coming home. Three

Until I received this book, I hadn’t realized it was third in a series of Rosey Corner Books. I read ANGEL SISTER when it came out several years ago and loved it. This book is just fine as a stand-alone, but there were enough mentions in passing of past events that I am curious to read the second book, SMALL TOWN GIRL and learn more about some of the backstory on various characters. Don’t let the fact it is part of a series discourage you from reading this touching, sweet story of a family in Ke ...more

As I read Love Comes Home I kept thinking that it reminded me of a book I had read sometime before. It took me awhile but I finally figured it out. It reminded me much of Little Women. It has a similar feel to it, with 4 very different sisters, loving parents, the trials of growing up, and the domestic incidences of life. One of the facets that really jumped out at me is how life never seems to go quite as planned. Each sister, Kate, Evie (Evangeline), Tori (Victoria), and Lorena, thought they h ...more

Gabhart's third book set in the small town of Rosey Corner is a poignant novel that explores loss, love, hardship, and new beginnings. It was a pleasure to become reacquainted with the characters from the first two books in the series (Angel Sister and Small Town Girl Corner), and there were many moments to celebrate with the characters (such as when husbands returned from war) but also many moments to experience their heart-ache. Even in Rosey Corner, things change.
Since our last visit there, the War has raged long and ended at last.
Victoria Merritt has married and then become a widow to the war.
Mike has returned to Evie but his life goals have changed and that scares her.
Even dear Graham has mourned his hound Poe and adopted a stray Shepherd.

Some things, though, never change. Once a Merritt girl, always a Merritt girl. Even if Kate is now a Tanner and Evie a Champion and Tori a Harper with bittersweet memories, and

The previous two books will also stand alone, and Gabhart is a master at overlapping characters and scenes from the Rosey Corner stories. Set in Rosey Corner, Kentucky just after World War II ends, Love Comes Home is the third book in the Rosey Corner series by Ann Gabhart. I received the book to review and had not read the first two books. Love Comes Home can be read as a stand-alone novel, but it is so good that I now want to read the entire series!
