9 books4 followersChristopher Robin Nicole was born on 7 December 1930 in Georgetown, British Guiana (now Guyana), where he was raised. He is the son of Jean Dorothy (Logan) and Jack Nicole, a police officer, both Scottish. He studied at Queen's College in Guyana and at Harrison College in Barbados. He was a fellow at the Canadian Bankers Association and a clerk for the Royal Bank of Canada in Georgetown and Nassau from 1947 to 1956. In 1957, he moved to Guernsey, Channel Islands, United Kingdom, where he currently lives, but he also has a domicile in Spain.
On 31 March 1951, he married his first wife, Jean Regina Amelia Barnett, with whom he had two sons, Bruce and Jack, and two daughters, Julie and Ursula, they divorced. On 8 May 1982 he married for the second time with fellow writer Diana Bachmann.
As a romantic and passionate of history, Nicole has been published since 1957, when he published a book about West Indian Cricket. He published his first novel in 1959 with his first stories set in his native Caribbean. Later he wrote many historical novels set mostly in tumultuous periods like World War I, World War II and the Cold War, and depict places in Europe, Asia and Africa. He also wrote classic romance novels. He specialized in Series and Sagas, and continues to write into the 21st century with no intention of retiring.
He signs his books as Christopher Nicole and uses several pseudonyms, some of them female. Pseudonyms used include: Peter Grange, Andrew York, Robin Cade, Mark Logan, Christina Nicholson, Alison York, Leslie Arlen, Robin Nicholson, C. R. Nicholson, Daniel Adams, Simon McKay, Caroline Gray and Alan Savage. He wrote disaster thrillers in collaboration with his wife, Diana Bachmann, under the penname Max Marlow. Under his different pseudonyms he has worked with many publishing houses: Jarrolds, Hutchinson, Simon & Schuster, Coward-McCann & Geoghegan, Jove, Michael Joseph, Mills & Boon, and Severn House.

Este es el segundo libro de seis que contiene la saga de la familia Borodin. A pesar que he leído mucho sobre la revolución rusa, y este libro particularmente describe ese periodo de tiempo, me gustó ya que muestra el horror de la guerra de ambos lados. No hay buenos ni malos, no hay amor sin algún interés, pero sí hay mucha violencia, pensamientos ideológicos absolutos, y siempre algo nuevo que se aprende sobre historias que no son dignas de repetirse.
Este es un libro de rápida lectura, bien escrito y con un contenido excelente de personales reales, y otros de la imaginación del autor, que mezclan la historia real de la Rusia contemporánea con historias de personajes ficticios que ayudan al lector a entender y a identificarse con el sufrimiento de ambos lados de la lucha.
Definitivamente recomendado para los amantes de la novela histórica. Continuaré leyendo la saga pero después de haber asimilado un poco más esta increíble historia.

El segundo libro de la serie de los Borodín es probablemente mi libro favorito de todos los que he leído en mi vida. Y este en particular, contiene uno de los temas que más me apasionan (la Revolución rusa) pues se centra en ese periodo de tiempo. Me gusta mucho que se le dé un enfoque bastante personal, que describa lo que es realmente la guerra para la sociedad (diferente a cómo se enseña la historia en cuanto a cambios ideológicos, geopolíticos o sociales desde el punto de vista a nivel Estado o comunidad internacional). En esta obra, conoces cómo sobrellevan los personajes la situación desde diferentes perspectivas. En lo particular, amo demasiado a Judith Stein. Me parece el mejor personaje por su espíritu y fuerza, además de que defiende sus convicciones. Y su interacción con Michael me pareció brillante, ambos tienen bastante en común y creo que eran el uno para el otro. <3
Este libro lo terminé en escasos 3 días, simplemente no podía soltarlo.
Por otra parte, considero que sí incluye bastante violencia pero esta ayuda mucho a entender e imaginar la situación de los personajes (llorar y sufrir con ellos).
Sin duda, este tipo de libros hace que me enamore más de la historia y sobretodo este periodo de guerras y conflictos que repercutieron de gran forma en cómo se moldeó el mundo hasta el día de hoy.

La saga de Los Borodin sigue sin perder la correcta mezcla entre ficción e historia. Mucho romance y erotismo combinado con una acertada descripción de los últimos días del régimen zarista ruso.

Cada vez me queda más la impresión de que los rusos son peculiares. No digo que buenos ni malos, solo peculiares. La Revolución Rusa no es cualquier cosa y al menos en eso esta novela se despertó mi curiosidad por ese periodo, por esas circunstancias, porque como en toda guerra, allí perdieron muchos y pocos llegaron a la cima.
