The set up
Jamie Charles had it pretty rough until she met Melanie Gordon when she was 8-years old. The Gordon family knew life at home was pretty grim and looked out for her. By the time she was 12, they formally became her legal guardians. As loved as she was by her new family, the early damage done left Jamie pretty scarred. She was tough and adopted risky behaviors as she tried to escape her memories. Now, she’s got a steady job that she’s good at while she hones her skills as an artist. Thou The set up

Though she’s become responsible, Jamie doesn’t believe that committed relationships are in the cards and works really hard to keep it that way.

The issues
Miles Copeland was in Cleveland on a business trip and happened to stop by the bar and grille where Jamie was bartending. Drawn immediately to this appealing and intriguing woman, he was determined to get beneath that veneer she used to keep everyone at arm’s length. Complicating matters was the bar’s “no customer fraternizing” policy and he was going to have to return to New York in a month. It also doesn’t help that Jamie’s biological mother shows up after a 15-year absence.

What really worked
The story, told most from Jamie’s perspective, is emotionally draining. There are the highs from the blossoming romance between her and Miles. He’s pretty much a dream, though he makes a few decisions that almost derail their fragile relationship. Then there are those low moments when Jamie begins the unraveling of all those memories she’s successfully stifled over the last 15+ years. The harder she tries to pull away, the harder Miles holds on. I was riveted, almost terrified she’d do something to sabotage her relationship with Miles, drawn into her pain and her joy from finally finding someone who she couldn’t drive away.

The bottom line
I’ve waited impatiently for this book since I learned it was going to be Jamie’s story and it far surpassed anything I was hoping for. I was worried I wouldn’t like Jamie but ended up just wanting to protect her. Miles was sexy, romantic, sensitive and an incredible lover (be prepared for some serious, serious steam) and had enough imperfections to keep him real. I loved how Jamie's transformation unfolded and developed, as well as the realism regarding her romance with Miles. The really great news? This isn’t the end of the series and future books are planned for one of the more tragic characters in this story and another who got my attention and soon as she was introduced. Another series I’m now hopelessly hooked on. 4.5 stars

(P.S. – I’m religious about reading books in order so this is hard to say….you can read this one without having read the first one as the timeline occurs ahead of that story. But, as I loved the first book, why deny yourself that pleasure.)

What a delightful read, and a roller coaster ride of emotions. Going on the ride with Jamie and Miles in their quest to find love and peace was a thrilling adventure.

It’s the perfect book to settle down with and while away the evening.

Trying to be different from all the other reviews...

I gave it 3 stars based on the fact that I personally don't like the baggage & emotional push & pull this book had. I didn't like feeling that way. It was NOT based on the writers ability to write. I would have scored it higher based on that. Although, when the mother made the comment "she's not even white" I had to go back & reread to figure out wth she meant. It didn't even matter.

I know people who grew up like Jamie. Not everyone who grows u Trying to be different from all the other reviews...

Ummm There are a ton of starving artists who need a second job to survive, and you have to be damn lucky to be discovered etc., to make it...

I remember my aunt telling her daughter, my cousin, that bartending was a step in the direction of prostitution, and we all thought that was the funniest thing ever, especially since she herself was some big wig running a school district. So I get the "get educated" thing. I'm still shaking my head at the artist suggestion though. We still laugh at my aunt & call bartenders prostitutes (sarcastically of course).

OK. So, Jamie meets Miles & she's totally cold. That was weird. He comes back. Who would keep trying? Oh well, fate!! That's all I could say if it was real life drama. Miles is cute, sweet, rich, owns a business & is patient as hell when it comes to drawing Jamie out. I'm not patient, & I would have dumped her ass.

With all the crap (in their lives) I was surprised how quickly it was resolved.

As for the moment early on when Jamie's mother shows up after 15 years, all I can say is that when people have nothing, they suddenly regret & start grasping. I don't think it's really genuine, I think it's them trying to hold on to one thing or find something that makes their life valuable. She had Jamie & she wants some thanks & appreciation to make herself worth something to someone. It's hitting bottom & losing everything and saying WTF happened?

Jamie at that point drove away, pulled over, then gave her a ride to the bus station & gave her $20. I don't even know what I would have done, I would probably give her guilt money to go away...

Jamie has baggage, a ton. Miles can get through comparing baggage. LOL! He has to convince her love is good, blah blah blah, takes forever then HEA...

I liked it. It was very dramatic. It reminded me of people, who I really didn't want to remember. It felt uncomfortable sometimes because I wanted to like the characters, but some made me want to slap them. It makes a good book if you feel something, however, I don't like sad movies because I don't like to be sad. I did not like the back & forth in the relationship & I got irritated & frustrated, so it wasn't my favorite. AND half the time I wanted to hit Jamie with a fly swatter in the middle of her forehead. ...more

This book made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me despair,it made me hope. Jamie and Miles were the kind of couple you can’t even cheer on, cause you’re not sure that they would ever be able to work, but still you want nothing more than for them to have their HEA. The ups and downs of this book, just made me fall more and more for these characters, I was cheering for them at times, thinking that this couldn’t really be be happening at other times, and just being pissed off at yet other times, This book made me laugh, it made me cry, it made me despair,it made me hope. Jamie and Miles were the kind of couple you can’t even cheer on, cause you’re not sure that they would ever be able to work, but still you want nothing more than for them to have their HEA. Jamie is broken in the worst way ever. Her entire life people have thrown her way, including her parents. And though when she was 13 she was finally picked up, it had already been evident to Jamie that nothing lasts forever, especially love. She was adopted by the family of her best friend, and though her new parents tried their best with her, Jamie never felt like she belonged. Now, after battling with addiction, Jamie has decided to put her life back together, and now she has a nice place to live, and a steady job as a bartender, and one man threatens to have it all taken away from her. WHen Miles walks into the bar, Jamie has him pegged from the moment she sees him, he is a rich boy, born to money, and now making his own bank. She even knows what car he drives, just by looking at him. What she doesn’t know is that he’s going to love her like no one else ever has, and he’s never going to abandon her.

“I’m not your father, I’m not like the guys your mom dated. I’m not any of the guys from your past. I’m the man you gotten to know right here in that bar. The man who gets a kick out of making you laugh because it’s one of the most scintillating sounds I’ve ever heard. The man who sees how beautiful and brilliant you are. Who sees the person even you don’t see.”

Miles Copeland has always wanted to be his own man, he wants to prove to his cheating bastard of a father that he can make it in the world without him or his influence. When he gets transferred to the Cleveland Office he is looking for a fresh start, and he definitely finds it in the bar across the street from his office, and in the arms of Jamie. I love the way that Miles never saw Jamie as broken and instead, he sees her as a whole woman who has just been hurt in the past. I love how patient he is with her, and how he tries his best to do right by her, even when she’s pushing him away.

This was a great book, it had a great plot, well developed characters, and unforgettable stories, I must say that this is my first book by Reese Ryan, but I’m looking forward to many more.

A person is never too damaged to be loved or to love all it takes is learning how to be loved and love.

So what can I say about this book after reading it. Well the first thing is that it is emotionally draining. Jamie “James” Charles emotions were a roller coaster ride that had me going happy to sad to happy then I felt anger. I couldn’t understand her and her way of thinking. She lived a hard life when she lived with her mother and yes there was a lot of damage down to her soul. He had his own issues but it seemed that he handled his pretty well he just needed to let his sister live her life. When Miles saw Jamie at her bartending job he was drawn to her. Now as for Jamie she tried so hard to blow him off but he won her. He had his own demons that he had dealt with and I couldn’t believe it when he finally opened up to Jamie. Loved his sister Kari but I have to say I could do without meeting his mother. I couldn’t believe that her biological mother came back into her life but she was so mean to her. I understand that her mother practically gave her up but her mother talked to who she called mother now. Her mother Jo knew that there was no way she could give her daughter what she deserved but yes her mother left her and that I totally understood. Jamie needed to deal with her anger towards her mother, she needed to talk to her and tell her everything she felt. Only that she also needed to hear her mother and yes I’m sorry forgive her. She also needed to let herself be loved and she needed to learn that it wasn’t hard to love Miles because she was already there she just needed to realize it.

Love Me Not was a very interesting read. The characters were well developed and the storyline was captivating. I love how Jamie and Miles relationship started and how it developed into more. There was a couple of times that I thought she was going to ruin the relationship with Miles. Then there was her Xavier he was madly in love with her but he ended up being a good guy. I’m glad that I was able to read the relationship between Jamie and her mother there was so much tension and anger. The character that amazed me the most was Jamie. She changed so much from the beginning of the book to the very end.

This story had both Miles and Jamie’s POV but it was mostly hers. This can be read as a standalone but the first in this book was a great read also. I totally recommend this book.

I thought I was getting into a light, fun, contemporary romance and while it was at times, it was also got pretty hard. I wasn't sure how she was going to be able to bring some closure to everything going on with the characters by the end of the book, but she manages to do it!

In Love Me Not, which is the second book in The Bad Boys Gone Good Series, we follow Jamie Charles and Miles Copeland. Jamie is a very complex character. I loved her and disliked her all at the same time. While there were times that I thought she was just plain old mean, later I figured out why she did what she did. We are going through the motions with Jamie. Even though the book is not in first person point of view, we pretty much follow Jamie's story with bits and pieces from Miles. Jamie has had a rough life and her self esteem is at its lowest while her anger is at its highest. It takes one patient man with his own demons to help Jamie break out of her box she has placed herself.

I really enjoyed watching Jamie grow over the story, even though it was heart wrenching at times and I wanted to shake her myself. Reese has developed a great story and deep characters that really make you feel for them. There were times I thought to myself, "Is this going to have a happy ever after?" I was truly worried about Jamie, however, it was very true to how life is for some people. Life isn't always quick and easy as in romance novels. There is a lot of pain and growth that has to happen in one's life to change and go from keeping everyone at arm's length to opening up and completely loving someone and allowing yourself to be loved. Reese makes it realistic in this story for me.

Miles is an incredibly patient man and his love for Jamie showed in ways not typical of romance heroes. He let Jamie find her way with gentle encouragement and patience, which in turn, showed her how to love. If you like contemporary romance that tackles some real emotional issues and isn't all sweet and fluffy, but is still just as packed with romance and passion, I recommend you give Love Me Not a try. ...more

This is a deep story that is full of pain, heartache, loss, anger, guilt, forgiveness, acceptance, love and redemption. My heart ached for what Jamie had been through in her young life and I can see what she had hardened her heart to protect herself. I can not imagine what it would be like for a 12 year old girl to be raped and made to believe she had asked for it. Her mother was definitely a low life self absorbed piece of shit, and her father was no better for abandoning them.

Another great story from Reese Ryan! But, this one did me a headache...not in a bad way, though. It made me think...and try to figure out Jamie and actions. Her issues from her past made Mel's look like a walk in the park, but Jamie readily admitted them and even seemed to know how to deal them - but she CHOSE to run from them. Huh? Love Me Not is the second installment in the Bad Boys Gone Good series by Reese Ryan.

The premise of the book sounded interesting and the follow through was good. I love flawed characters and these characters are flawed to say the least. I love the growth of the characters as the story progresses.

The ending jumped around a little and at the halfway point it seems to lull some, but other than that the book was good.

I hope to see Ex get his own story!

I really liked this book by Reese Ryan. When Jamie meets Miles she knows she is so not his type. Jamie is an artist and a bartender who is fighting her own addictions. Her mother chose drugs over Jamie, and Jamie is trying to make better decisions. Miles wants Jamie and soon loves her. Jamie doesn't do love, it's not something she does. Reese Ryan will take you on an emotional roller coaster ride with this novel. It is extremely well written,; fast paced, even, detailed settings, witty dialogue, and a well plotted story. The lead couple will grab your heartstrings, and if you like flawed characters to find love over all obstacles, this is a book for you. My emotions were engaged; at times I was overwhelmed by the back stories of the characters and the journey they took to love, but the book was quite satisfying.

Jamie hasn't had it easy- to her LOVE isn't worth a dime. Abandoned by a drug addicted mother, barely escaping her own addictions, she avoids commitment, until the very gorgeous Miles appears on the scene. He seduces her, draws her in then professes his love which sends her running for the hills.

I loved how Miles and Jamie's relationship developed. Slow, lots of hot sex, and some emotional drama to overcome from both of them. I didn't get the whole Bad Boys thing until 3/4 into the book. The ending pulled down my rating. Too quick and too many open holes for me. I hope Ms. Ryan has plans for Kari and Ex....but not together. ...more
