I do believe I'm starting to fall in love with historical romances. This one in particular had me in tears within the first two chapters. It was so well written and I loved the characters!

Rebecca ~ To say I have the up most respect for her , would be the honest truth! To be back in this day in time and to have what happened, happen to any young lady of any class is cause for scandal no matter the truth! And the way she responded, just shows how strong-willed she truly was. Even though she knew s

This is the third book by Em Taylor that I've read. There are so many reviews that have described the main plot so I will just mention what I enjoyed and I didn't. The characters were sweet and with what befell the h, Rebecca, it would have been easy to take the story to a depressing place but the author had the sadness and despair but not over done. It is not easy to do this and still make the story believable but I think the author did a good job.

I was briefly horrified when her father made th

DNF - the book started off well enough, but the it took a disgusting twist that left me unable to finish it. It's no secret that Rebecca was raped by a man at the start of the book. But the courtship is rushed and her new husband Daniel wants to take it slow. This is where the book excels ...teasing and yet tender. But when they finally "consummate" their vows - the author SKIPS the ENTIRE NIGHT!!! No description of how it was different, or welcomed or wonderful. Just "Sunday, three days since t ...more

This was a brilliant start to the series. This was my first Em Taylor and I think I am gonna read some more of her. The book start off with h being raped brutually by a man later revealed to be a gay.But our h is an indomitable spirit and displays a stength of character you cannot help but admire . She refuses to back down and go hiding in countryside even when rumours of her being impure start flying. Now it may sound all normal in this era but in regency period ,when a mere kiss or embrace or e ...more

Lady Rebecca Eversley is engaged to the Earl of Newthorpe, a cruel man who rapes her to ensure she goes ahead with the marriage. It has tge opposite effect however and she breaks off the engagement, leaving her traumatised and having to face the gossiping ladies of the Ton.

EM Taylor does an excellent job with her storylines. She has used situations that are rarely addressed in Regencies. Most publishers do not allow any rape scene, but there really isn't one in the book. It started immediately following the brutal attack. It also has homosexuality in it, which is rare. This is why I really enjoy self-pubbed books, because they can deal with these kind of issues. Ms.Taylor does an excellent job giving the book a true feeling of the Regency period, and she did not u ...more

This is the story of the ruination of an innocent. But this ruin is not a simple being caught in a compromising embrace in the garden, it is a mean ravishment. The courage, strength and bravery that Lady Rebecca shows in the aftermath are superb. She refuses to let the gossipy Ton send her crying to the country to live out her life as a spinster. Enter Daniel, Lord Ramsey, who is a friend of Lady Rebecca’s brother and whose sick father has given him an ultimatum- get married and start your nurse ...more

I have to say reading Historical Romances has to be one of my favorite types of books. Not only is the cover gorgeous, but I have yet to find a book I did not enjoy in this genre. Whenever you know you’re reading a romance during this time frame you of course know the problems that arise in certain incidents that deal with the ton, rakes, and how reputation is everything to family. Lady Rebecca was being courted by the Earl of Newthorpe and when he invited her to see part of his house; she was i ...more

Knowing that she did nothing wrong she will not cower and hide, but as the rumors spread she is second guessing what she must do.

Ms Taylor has a wonderful Regency voice. She thoroughly draws you into the story and the world. I particularly liked that she drew us into parts of the Regency world outside of the Ton, like a boxing saloon and a seedy inn. It was refreshing to not have a whole book set in various balls, as so often happens in these books. She also dealt with a difficult subject beautifully. You have instant empathy for Rebecca and wonder quite how she will move forwards from her ravishment.

Historical English romance that deals with the aftermath of rape in this repressed society where it has to hidden (at best) and married to the abuser (at worse).
There is clearly no good outcome for the young lady that has been raped, but Lady Rebecca Eversley does try to get over the ordeal by being surrounded by her loved ones as well as support from an unlikely source, her brother's best friend Lord Daniel Ramsey. Daniel and Rebecca have a sweet patient courtship, after the quick-y wedding. Da

Based on the opening, I expected this to be a very dark romance. I was surprised that things quickly lightened up and this turned into a fun a little read. Both characters are likeable and relatable, though Daniel sometimes comes across as a titch too perfect. I enjoyed how the author managed to lightly portray equal rights problems during the time-period. In addition to the romance and sexy times, there’s a light murder mystery subplot.

AMAZING!! 5+ stars!

This is the first book I have read by Em Taylor. I have had Em's work on my TBR list for a long time and I am so excited that she allowed me to review her work.

I was addicted to Saved by a Rake and could not put it down! I fell in love with Lady Rebecca and my heart hurt for all that she was going through. She is a very strong, determined young lady and she did not care that the Ton would be gossiping about her. She was not in the wrong after all. When her brother, James, coul

First, I want to say I really love historical romances. A lot of the time, a historical can be cheesy and unrealistic for us in the modern day. However, this book was not one of them. I was pleasantly surprised to find this book both very easy to relate to, but true to the time period. It was both sweet and romantic but still very interesting. I love how the author wrote each character to be again very true to the "historical" time but still made the issues they deal with something that still ha ...more

Liked the MCs - seriously, they were super awesome.
Our hero is kind, considerate and loyal but also a bit alpha.
Our heroine is strong and brave but also broken inside. She feels filthy and doesn't think she deserves a husband who cares for her.

The story itself is heartbreaking. Unfortunately, the plot itself was not that interesting or extraordinary. It was a bit boring and could have been improved - a lot. It's just disappointing that there is no suspense. I would have liked more drama that inv

I loved this book! at first when I read that she was raped I was afraid that the story would be dark, but it wasn't and I think the author handled it very well. Yes her courtship to Daniel was quick but I don't think it was too quick and nobody seemed to gossip about it

I also loved Daniel's brother and how the author handled him being gay instead of hate towards his brother, he acted like it was no big deal which I loved. I loved the scene when Rebecca was taking care of Simon and what she said

A moving tale

This story deals with some tough subjects in a realistic and compassionate way, although not likely the way they would have been addressed in that period.

Daniel, an honorable rake, has been given an ultimatum: marry before the earl succumbs to his illness, or his inheritance will go to his siblings. Rebecca, his best friend's sister, has been compromised and faces ruination and ostracism. Not the best foundation for a happy marriage, but they do reach their HEA, and without taking a

If your love historical romances, Saved by a Rake, written by EM Taylor, is the perfect book set in the Regency era. I really liked her two main characters Rebecca and Daniel. It was well written, sweet, charming and romantic! How can you go wrong with all of this! It has everything to please an historical lover! It seems a lot happened in this book yet not much at all. A man who preferred men started this chain of events and drew it full circle- in a roundabout way. It was nice to see some good come from bad but it is disappointing bad things happened. This book has rape, power, revenge, misunderstanding and learning to trust again. Acceptance is a hard thing for humans to do and it makes reading that aspect in books hopeful for mankind.

Stand alone

Cute book although I had to wonder where her maid was when the awful went down, maybe I missed it but they did go there together. Initially it was amusing then boring when Rebecca kept trying to fob Daniel off to a mistress but given her doubts and insecurities after what happened to her, it was understandable and even more believable that the author didn't suddenly sweep the incident under the carpet just because she fell in love.

Like I said, cute.

I love historical romance novels and this one didn't disappoint. I haven't read any in a while so I was really looking forward to reading Saved by a Rake. Em Taylor did a really good job writing this story. I really loved what she did with the characters. I loved reading about the sexual tension between Rebecca and the Rake Daniel. You do not want to miss this story. It is a must read for everyone. :)

Mmm. I love a good historical romance. Some people get picky about details but I think the story is more important than anything. This story was great. The heroine was strong and spunky and the hero, although unwilling at first, falls head over heels. It's romantic, there's a bit of mystery, and best of all, happily ever after.

All characters are very relatable and one of the supporting characters has been set up to have their own book next. I can't wait!

Lady Rebecca is strong female character. She has an inner strength that allows her to rise above the travesties of her life. And she has a welcoming heart that doesn't judge, be it her brother, her brother-in-law, or even her own husband's needs. The title claims she was saved. But I rather think that she did the saving, and not just of herself. She is just the right woman to stand beside him and take on the world.

Good book worth reading

the book was good it dealt with some difficult issues in a very understanding way. the relationship between the two characters was given time to develop and grow. I really appreciate that it was handled that way. most stories seem to rush the relationship of the main characters. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This was a pretty short book, it took me only an afternoon to read it. It isn't that I didn't like it, but not much happened. For an historical romance that deals with some taboo subjects (rape, homosexuality), I expected a more compelling read.
