He'd gone from one drug to another- her. The scary thing was, he wasn't sure he could ever detox from her.

Behind the Scandal is book 2 in the Reluctance series, and follows Taylor Reece, Kyran's drug addicted and all around fuck-up brother. I really wasn't sure how the author would take a character like Taylor and turn him around, particularly after the way he came across in book 1. Suffice it to say, I wasn't a fan of his. And by that I mean my feelings toward him ran

I liked Behind the Scandal, but I didnt love it. It is one of those books you will pick up and enjoy whilst reading, but it doesn't really offer up anything new or different. The storyline is for want of a better word, predictable. The characters and their issues arent really unique or unusual, it was all just OK.

We met Taylor Reese originally in the first book in the Reluctance series - Beneath the Surface, and to be frank he was an absolute

After I finished the first book in this series, Beneath the Surface, I couldn't stand Taylor Reese. I thought he was spoiled and smarmy and slimy and a train wreck waiting to happen. So....when I found out that this book was HIS story...well, I was a little worried.

Now keep in mind that I have read a fair share by M.S. Stacie and I know her way with words and she has yet to lead me wrong...but Taylor??? Really???

This can be read as a stand-a-lone book, but is best read after the first.

Although I liked this book, there were certainly parts of it that didn't gel well with me and I found myself finding that I preferred the first book in the series.

We met Taylor in the first book, but we never really get to the issue of why he went into a downward spiral that eventually led him to using cocaine. When it came to suffering with the symptoms of withdrawal,

**warning: This can be read as a stand alone, but if you are like me and feel the need to understand everything, you should read book 1**

As we saw on book one of this series, Taylor Reese reached bottom rock when he overdosed. Being part of a very dysfunctional family, Taylor didn't know how to handle the pressure and found a way out through oblivion. Now

I have waited so long for this book and it was SO worth the wait! Taylor Reese was such a bad boy, screw up in Beneath the Surface. I could not wait to see how he redeemed himself. And boy did he! Sweet, sexy, and gruff- Taylor is my favorite kind of bad boy. Mixed with the kind, sweet, and responsible Libby. These two bantered and loved until the very end.

Taylor Reese finds himself at a crossroads. Continue down a destructive path and lose everything, or straighten out and find the will to live
The Book Junkie Reads . . .
I have to admit to feeling a bit lost and out of sorts in spots, but things have been simple to a point. Taylor and Libby have different reasons for being at the ranch. The differences bring them together. Their private battles ties them together.

To understand it all read the first book in the series because it allows you to see the real struggles of Taylor. Its not that you can't read this book as a stand alone, but you will be much happier in the end to have read the first book. There are

Overall "Behind the Scandal" was an enjoyable read and I would recommend it to anyone of has read and enjoyed "Beneath the Surface". The two stories overlap for a good portion so you get see what Taylor was doing while Kyran was figuring his sh!t out with Dale.

Note - I'm not sure if the numerous errors throughout are from a formatting issue or if it just needs additional editing. Words running together or words having spaces within when they aren't needed. For me they got distracting

hmmm, I really wanted to like it more, for some reason, and I can't even explain why, but I just couldn't connect with the characters or the story. I really don't think it's a bad book, just no draw for me, I suppose.

We already met Taylor Reese in Beneath the Surface - where he was this totally unresponsible, drug-addict brother of our hero Kyran.

Nothing much changed .... he's still all that.

But now his Dad makes him stay at his Uncle's farm in Wyoming for six months!!!!

He needs to clean up his act, and unless he does that, he will be cut off from the Reese family - and for Taylor more importantly, the Reese money.

So poor Taylor finds himself on this smelly little horse farm with nothing to do.

That won't

Original review here:

Behind the Scandal is the sequel to Beneath the Surface. This time around, we follow Taylor, Kyran's brother. Taylor is a drug addict who has pushed his luck to the end. Well, that luck being his father's money. His dad will no longer give him money. Instead, his dad sent him to his brother's ranch to sober up. Of course, Taylor hates it there. Not only does he feel trapped, but he is in

My rating: 4 of 5 ⭐

After his brother and father clued in to the depth of his addiction, Taylor Reese was shipped off to his uncle's ranch, away from the temptations of the big city and the draw of his questionable friends. With issues that run deeper than his addiction, anger is the only emotion Taylor knows. But with lines firmly drawn in the sand by his family, he has no choice but to toe the line. Hard farm work helps him let off some necessary steam

When I picked up this book to start it, I did so with trepidation. I read "Beneath the Surface" and I was not a fan of it. This book, however, is brilliant.

Taylor is a recovering drug addict and he's sent to the family ranch to recover. Libby is a battered wife running from an abusive ex. With this combination, you'd think this would be a drama laden mess but instead it's a beautiful story of one person's personal battle to overcome problems he's caused, taking ownership and responsibility, and

I didnt realize this was a second book in a series. Not that it really mattered; it was easy enough to follow and works as a stand-alone.

Im not really sure how I feel about this one. The story wasnt all that original, the plot not all that captivating. We have the drug addict who is banned to the country to get clean where he meets the sweet single mother who, of course, has a troubled past of her own involving an abusive husband who shes running from.

Why is it that when the hero has

Behind the Scandal is the second book in the Reluctance series, though it can be read as a standalone. It follows Taylor, the brother of the hero from book 1, and Libby, a single mother living on Taylor's uncles land helping with horse riding lessons. This was my first novel from M. A. Stacie and I really liked it. Both characters came from troublesome pasts but in the end were able to overcome them. This book contained all things I love while reading: second chances, a

Truthfully, the title of this book completely misguided me to the story that unfolded. Perhaps I am too literal with my titles but when I read scandal I assumed there would be an actual scandal. However, that is where my frustration/annoyance/dislike ended.

I loved all of the aspects of this story. Not having read book 1 of the series I was pleased to see that I could thoroughly enjoy the characters and their stories without feeling like I missed something. I loved that.

In book one, Beneath the Surface, we discovered that Taylor Reese had a problem with drugs.
His addiction has become so bad that his father and Kyran can no longer ignore it and Taylor is finally forced to make a decision: Go to his uncles ranch and get clean or get cut off completely.

Taylor has a hard time acclimating to doing real work and having someone depend on him to get the work done. But once he starts giving it his all, working to overcome the detox withdrawals his body is wracking

Behind the Scandal can be read as a stand alone but some parts may be a bit confusing when it comes to the main hotness, I mean character Taylor. His past if that is something that is a must for you then you need to go get the first book in the series.

So we have the standard bad boy that took a wrong turn in the tracks and ended up with an addiction that is hard to kick. Not having another option he moves to his uncle farm to try and clean up,

This series is becoming a fast favorite! I became instantly intrigued with the Reese brothers and their family dynamic in book one with Kyran. Book 2 Behind the Scandal is focused on Taylor and his drug addiction that has driven him to the brink and his life is collapsing around him.

Taylor is shipped off to his uncles ranch to detox, feeling very much alone and unloved he has the biggest chip on his shoulder and makes sure everybody knows it. The Ranch couldn't be any further away from what

Behind the Scandal was a book filled with gut wrenching scenes and love that transcends all.

This is the second book to the Reluctance series and it focuses on Taylor Reese, Kyren's younger brother.

Kyren started out as a spoiled brat who always gets what he wants. He was irritating and the way he acted like he was always the boss wasn't a great character in a leading man. He

Last year I read Beneath the Surface and I enjoyed it, but had a few minor problems with it. Behind the Scandal however I really liked. The problems I found with Beneath the Surface were definitely not an issue in this book! In fact, I completely enjoyed this book and even found myself flying through it.

I did not like Taylor in book #1. He was an ass, with a problem and was causing problems for Kyran and Dale. So when I found out this book was about him, I was a little hesitant. But since

I enjoyed this read. I liked the mixture of the love story, the personal struggles and the little bit of a mystery that you can work out throughout the story. Both Libby an Taylor have things in their past that they aren't too proud of and while Taylor seems to be more open to sharing his Libby is still cautious when it comes to sharing hers. The 2 come together and become each others salvation but each fear that they depend on the other too much. There is the fear that Taylor will soon return ...more

Thanks to the author for a book to read and review!

Book two in the reluctance series, and it should be read in order to get the most reading enjoyment. I liked this book better than book one, and thought Libby and Taylor had good chemistry. Taylor gets sent to his Uncles farm after leaving rehab, as a last ditch effort to get clean or be cut off from Daddy's money. Taylor's outlook on life is just down right pissy, and arrogant even though he's a living skeleton and can't even get a hard on
