Robert's class is having an achievement contest, and Robert desperately wants to win. Anyone who gets A's on homework, reads books, or helps the teachers will earn points toward the prize. Robert pledges to do all those things, but it won't be easy. He's never read a whole book and his papers are usually marked with a pig stamp that says "could be neater." Robert becomes a teacher's helper, cleans up after art class, and serves as library monitor. But will his good intentions and steadfastness be enough? Lively drawings illustrate this hilarious story of a likable boy who is finally rewarded for his good nature and hard work.
Robert is feeling kind of way because he wants to be like everyone in his family to represent a special quality he may have. All other family members have a certificate hanging up but not Robert. What is Robert going to do? Will things turn out in his favor?
I feel this book is a perfect read for any third grader...Robert has several issues to deal with inside this single book and the way the Author got him thru it all was perfect - from a third graders point of view and understanding...the only draw-back from this book would be the art work...
Sweet story of a boy looking to excel at something with realistic though not disappointing ending. Don't let the cover/trim size throw you off, it's good for probably advanced 1st - 3rd graders. - Brittin (RPL)
