A Heart of Montana Novella

Waitress Tess Branson has earned a bad reputation, and the nickname “Fast Tessie,” as result of her poor judgement where men are concerned. She learned from a young age that men – of all ages – were only interested in one thing, which has made Tess distrustful even though she yearns for love.

The Christmas Wish is book #2 in The Heart Of Montana series by Katy Regnery. This is a very short novella but there is so much packed into these pages.

Tess Branson has a bad reputation in Gardiner, Montana where she lives with her mother and works as a waitress at the local diner. Most of it is from her own choices. All she wants is acceptance, friendship, maybe even love. She just has gone about attempting to obtain these things the wrong way. Tess doesn’t believe in wishe

Five stars for having everything I look for in a holiday romance story!

I loved this novella! I'm a hopeless romantic so I love reading about 2 people who haven't had a chance of finding true love. Tess and Lucas have made some mistakes in the past, which for Tess is a constant reminder as a result of living in a small town. I really enjoyed Tess and Lucas because they were realistic characters, someone you may easily know. They aren't supermodels with perfect bodies. They are normal, hardworking people who we can all identify with.

This is the second book I've read

"You know what sucks, Tess? People have treated you like trash for so long, you believe it. You buy it. You don’t think you deserve someone who treats you decent, who sees your goodness, who loves you!" - Lucas Flynn

What did I tell you? I knew Jenny was what ruined the first book for me! If it was just the writing style, the case would have been the same with The Christmas Wish . But I rather enjoyed this one - too much, if I may say so myself.

A quick and short, yet truly romantic and beautiful story. “The Christmas Wish” is yet another perfect read for the Holidays by Katy Regnery!
“You can put lipstick on a pig,” she whispered. “But it’s still a pig.”

Tess is a waitress we briefly met in “By Proxy” (Heart of Montana, book one). She had a horrible reputation and because of her troubled past, she didn’t think she was worthy of being loved. People treated her badly and judged her as if they knew h

This is a sweet little Christmas novella that is part of a series but can easily be read as a standalone. The main characters from the previous novel are very subtly mentioned but without spoilers. If anything, if you enjoy this novella, it will make you want to read the first book, By Proxy, which I loved.

As for The Christmas Wish, this is a sweet story of two people whom society looks down on, but they themselves are so full of hope and warmth, that it is no wonder they are brought together.

Lucas Flynn out of prison, works as a short order cook at the diner.
Tess Branson is a waitress at the diner. He's watched how others have bullied her and he knows she is special=to others who are down on their luck and children and lone dogs.
The reason I wanted to read this book is because I love holiday books and love the setting of the Yellowstone River in this one.

The Christmas Wish is a Novella and I was able to read it in one sitting.I enjoyed it.It comes after Katy Regnery By Proxy.I have not had the chance to read By Proxy but this pretty much is a stand alone Novella. So never fear. I enjoyed the writing and thought it flowed pretty well. There were a few places I think could have used some more background and I do think the romance happened rather quickly..BUT with that being said it was a great read.I loved Tess

Tess and Lucas, the main characters in this novella, are people who are held apart from other people in their town. Tess has a reputation as an 'easy' girl, and Lucas is an ex-con who has served his time and wants to build a life for himself. Lucas sees something in Tess that no one else sees, and she feels the same way about him. A really lovely, feel good, Christmassy story.

I'm not sure how to rate this one. I liked it but didn't love it. While Tess and Lucas REALLY deserved each other, and deserved happiness and love in their lives, I didn't really connect to either of them.

We've met Tess in the previous installment, she is a waiter at a local diner in Gardiner. Last we've seen of her she was oggeling Sam (the MC in the previous book). It was very cheap and in my opinion SO inappropriate even if everyone calls her "Fast Tess". I mean, acting provocative

Lucas Flynn knows he should stay away from Tess Branson, but one night after she dumps a container on ice water on three patrons he finally goes to her to talk. He asks her out on a date and like so many other times, she's looking for the his hidden agenda. Little does she realize that Lucas doesn't have one, he just wants to get to know her better as a person. Lucas tells Tess that she should make a wish for Christmas and that if she does, it will come true.

Tess was quick to judge Lucas as the

I was offered this novella arc in exchange for an honest review. I've only read a few novellas and honestly tend to shy away from them because so many seem to rush the story without giving much background of the characters. This always makes me feel like I haven't been given the chance to get to know them. But having read Katy Regnery's first novel in the Heart of Montana series and very much enjoying her writing style, I was extremely pleased to have the opportunity to read The Christmas Wish a ...more

A second chance at love...and life

A few decades ago, there used to be a line of books called, “Second Chance at Love”. Every story was built around the theme of characters finding a second chance at love. “A Christmas Wish” by Katy Regnery is all about the courage it takes for that second chance at love.

Readers met Tess Branson in Book#1 “By Proxy” as a flirty waitress with a bad reputation. In “A Christmas Wish”, we get to learn more about her, her past, and her hopes for the future. Lucas Fl

I was asked to read this novella in exchange for an honest review, and I truly adored it!

This is a very sweet novella by Katy Regnery, and if you've read By Proxy, you'll be glad to hear mention of some familiar characters!!

Tess “Tessie” Branson is a waitress at the local diner, who's past has earned her the nickname “Fast Tessie”. She's no stranger to being used and tossed aside by men, and since she's never opened her heart to any of them, that was always okay. Until one night, when Tess has

A nice lovestory that tells us there's more than what it seems to be, more than what we see with a naked eye. There are struggles everyone's dealing with, and Tess isn't the exception. A mistreated girl that's been taken for granted by everyone, that see her as a lost cause but have never bothered to stop a while and see what's inside. I have tried my whole life not to be judgemental with anyone, I've been in the other side and felt what is it like, so that has gave me a different POV. First tim ...more

Tess Branson has developed a bad reputation when it comes to men. She has become distrustful and automatically assumes that men are only after her for one thing. When Lucas Flynn, a fellow worker at the restaurant, asks her out on a date declaring that he only wants to get to know her, she begins to think that true love may be within her grasp.

The Christmas Wish is a novella so I can't fault it too much for what seemed like an abrupt romance. It is to be expected. Though, (view spoiler)

I received this from Library Thing to read and review. This is another fantastic story by Katy Regnery. Tess is a waitress, whom everyone in the small town treats not so well. In fact, her reputation is not all that good either. Enter Lucas Flynn, short order cook where Tess works. Lucas is a recently released ex-con, who wants to make a new life for himself. Though people often think badly of ex-cons, anyone who meets or encounters Lucas will realize at once that he is a decent sort of guy, wit ...more

I loved Regnery's debut, "By Proxy," so I scooped this novella up on her name alone, but, to be honest, I was feeling a bit Scroogy at the time. You know how it is...you look at the calendar and, holy smokes, it's November! Christmas is around the corner, and there's so much to do, and you're not ready, and how the heck did it get to be holiday season already? My enthusiasm was at a low mark, to say the least. I started this story with the intention of kind of forcing myself into the Christmas s ...more

This novella is book 1.5 in Katy Regnery's Heart of Montana series. The first book in the series is By Proxy (read my review here http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/... ). There are some references to characters/events in By Proxy (and vice versa) but the 2 stories are separate and can be fully enjoyed in any order.

This standalone Christmas novella brings us back to the small town of Gardiner, Montana and is the story of Tess, a waitress and Lucas, a short order cook. Tess was previously introduced as a minor character in Katy's debut novel By Proxy - a fallen woman in a predominantly Christian town, known for making bad choices in her life, particularly with men. Lucas is a recently released convict who has been silently working with Tess and waiting for his opportunity to show her that she needs a specia ...more

You know when you read a story and it speaks to you?
This is that story.
Two people who the world/society have given up on.
Tess takes whatever scraps of kindness given to her. She has a “bad” reputation and lives down to it. She is given a new perspective when Lucas enters her life.

A sweet and inspiring Christmas novella. I read it straight through in one sitting (by staying up well after I should have been asleep) and really enjoyed it.

I particularly appreciated that Tess and Lucas aren't unattainably perfect — neither one is supermodel-gorgeous or a gifted genius or rolling in money, and neither has lived an unblemished life — so they feel genuine and accessible.

Overall, it's a touching and inspirational romance, best to read around Christmas for the seasonal good cheer

The Christmas Wish is a sweet love story set in Montana during the holiday season. I am a huge fan of Katy Regnery's By Proxy. In my last review, I said that Katy's book reminded me of Lifetime/Hallmark movies that I love to watch during the holidays. This novella is no exception. Tess has a reputation as a bad girl. And since she has it she might as well live up to it, no one will ever see her differently. Lucas is an ex-con who is happy he found a job a short order cook. He has admired Tess from afar and wishes she would see the beautiful woman he sees when he looks at her.
