This book is not a deep read, more a summation of Eastern philosophies in an accessible manner. However, its simplicity forwards deep truths. The saying goes: when the student is ready, the teacher appears. If the teacher is yet to appear, at least the textbook arrived.

Me tarde mucho en terminar este libro, sin embargo es una excelente obra. Pond recopila la historia, puntos filosóficos y prácticas orientales de manera fácil de entender y seguir. Cada capítulo se entrelaza con el otro, enfocándose en la unidad de una idea central presentada de distintas maneras. Es un buen punto de partida para todo aquel que desee una introducción a las religiones orientales.

Lo más que me agrada de este libro es como el autor a menudo trae ejemplos de la vida cotidiana actual y los interpreta desde el punto de vista de enseñanzas antiguas. Al final, el libro tiene un simple mensaje... no es necesario seguir tal o cual camino espiritual, sino utilizar lo que personalmente te funcione y traer conciencia plena a cada acción que llevas a cabo. Definitivamente esta obra es para leerse más de una vez.

David Pond teeb sissejuhatuse nelja väga pika ajalooga idamaise maailmapildi olemusse. Kindlasti võivad need, kes mõne teemaga on süvitsi läinud, mitmes kohas autori käsitlustele vastu vaielda, kuid autori eesmärk on eelkõige tuua välja nende maailmapiltide ühisosa ja sarnasused. Lõpeks kirjeldavad need kõik siiski ühte sama universumit ja inimest. Raamat on idamaistesse filosoofiatesse lühike sissejuhatus, seletab põhimõisteid ja seoseid, kuid lisaks pakub ka mitmeid praktilisi harjutusi. Lugejal on võimalik ise valida, kas talle mõni neist teedest on sobilik ja valitud teel süvitsi edasi minna.
