Six of the Best: A Hellish Half-Dozen is the stunning debut collection from horror writer Kevin G. Bufton. Walk with him, through the twisted corridors of his mind, as he leads you into the dark places, where no soul is safe, nobody can be trusted, and nothing is as it seems.

I adore short story collections. No where else can you find a myriad of stories that run the gamut of plot, setting, and characters bundled into one book.

Today I’m reviewing “Six of the Best: A Hellish Half-Dozen” by A

Kevin Bufton is an author friend of mine, but I swear to give an entirely unbiased review all the same! {Spoiler warning!}

Six of the Best is a collection of stories compiled from Bufton’s inclusions in the Cruentus Libri anthologies that he edited - which I think makes for a nice and varied collection, as each anthology was themed but obviously there’s only one story of each theme in this collection, which offers a broad and sweeping take on the horror genre. I think that’s what actually makes t

Review Copy 4.5 Stars

A few weeks back I was offered a book by an author I was not familiar with, but decided to take a chance. Kevin G. Bufton, from Birkenhead in the United Kingdom, is the real deal.

Six of the Best: A Hellish Half-Dozen may only contain six tales, but they are six of the best I've read this year. Well, what do you know, truth in advertising. The collection has three stories with zombies (each from a distinctly original perspective), and three more with totally original themes

A couple of weeks ago I entered a competition on facebook, the prize was a copy of this book - thankfully I won. This is a really good collection!

As you would expect from the title their are six short stories in this collection, three zombie tales and three general horror.

The book opens with Mother's Milk, a truly disturbing tale of mother and child in the aftermath of the zombie apocalypse. I had become a little tired the whole zombie genre before reading this story but this author has really

I received a copy of the book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Kevin Bufton's debut collection of short stories features re-edited versions of stories previously included in other anthologies, and though I've not read the original versions, I can say in all honesty that reading this collection was an absolute delight!
The opening story, "Mother's Milk" is a dark look at a young mother's experience of delivering and living with a stillborn baby in an evacuated city apartmen

This little collection is six stories from author and indie-publisher Kevin G. Bufton with each taken from an anthology Mr. Bufton previously published. They are, as the title suggest, what he considers to be some of his best work. I have to agree with him.

Three of these stories deal with the subject of zombies and/or the ever popular zombie apocalypse. I’m not normally a huge fan of the zombie genre, but even I liked these three zombie stories, especially the one that serves as the book’s close

Six good horror short stories

Entertaining read, even if the collection is heavy on the zombies. Nothing wrong with well written zombie stories that are different than the usual..

Good read if you like horror. I do!!

Apparently I am more discerning than the previous reviewers. While I enjoyed a couple of these stories too many dealt with zombies which are as worn at this point as vampires and werewolves; worse, I saw the twists coming. What bothered me in addition to that was the editing (wrong word choices) and occasional punctuation. These were excellent examples of why someone should never edit their own work and always hire a professional editor. A better formatter would have been a good idea as well. Ro ...more
