Although this is the newest book in the winged horse series by Linda Ulleseit, it moves backward to where it all began; with the parents who raised the children we have learned to love, hate, or empathize with. Here we get into the minds of previous generations when lore was an actuality, and being a barn leader an honor not taken lightly. Where parents made decisions based on the strength of their legacy and endeavored to pass on that importance to their children.

At only 86 pages, this book is a quick and enjoyable read. The story follows Neste, a rider of Flying horses that compete in the Aerial Games. Anyone who loves horses will love to read about the winged horses they ride and follow the aerial dances they perform. The story takes a turn when a horrible accident changes Neste's life and forces her to question her future. Linda Ulleseit writes beautifully with just the right amount of description and realistic dialogue. I enjoyed the book and look ...more

Fantasy romance novella with winged horses, and a nice light read. The blurb says the book's set in a form of medieval Wales, but there's little world-building and only a few descriptions, leaving the story sort of rattling around on an empty stage, and while reading I had no idea what time setting we were in due to the minimal grounding provided by the author. (The characters speaking some Welsh was an excellent touch.)

One thing I'd have loved was a stronger sensation of the winged horses

If you haven't read the Flying Horse Trilogy, read this first. A beautiful heart-reading story of life, love, passions, and choices. Neste loves her life as rider of a flying horse, and fiancé of the barn leader's son. As she grows closer to the man she's intended to marry since childhood, she becomes aware of his darker side. When Neste discovers an attraction to a struggling new rider, she is torn. Does she truly love her betrothed? On the day of the Arial Games, tragedy strikes. In a ...more
