I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review by the author which I;m more than happy to give.
What a book! Emily gave us the perfect lead character in Natalie, she comes across as a totally scatty, shallow airhead - something she is very clearly not as her job as an accountant for a shoe company would indicate. Unlucky in love, accident prone and hilarious sum up her character sweetly. She places a singles ad and each chapter of the book is started off with a letter to her per ...more

Well, well, well... Helen Fielding's fans, Sophie Kinsella's fans, there's a new chick lit author ready to conquer the stage! Emily Harper might be new on the chick lit scene, but trust me, she KNOWS what readers want and what's more important, this debut really feels like breath of fresh air.

Natalie works in the Accounting department of a shoe company called Makka. They make expensive designer shoes. She actually loves designer wear, but unfortunately she didn't get the chance to work in the marketing department when she asked for a job there. Natalie has been very dependable with their numbers for many years, but it isn't where her passion lies. She has two very nice colleagues, so work isn't all that bad and it pays the bills, which is handy as Natalie loves new outfits. She's loo

White Lies is a great, easy to get engrossed in read. The story centres around Natalie. She works as an accountant in a shoe designing company. Natalie is single and looking for love. Before each chapter Natalie writes a letter to the man of her dreams telling us what she is looking for.

I was given a copy of this book prior to its release date to review. I read it in a couple of hours and I loved it.
When I read the synopsis the author provided I was interested, but I still wasn't that sure what the novel was about.
Natalie Flemming, the heroine of the story, tells lies but the kind we all tell. My mother would call them 'fibs'. She works for a shoe company as their accountant and won't pursue any promotions or advances in the company because of an incident in her past with one o ...more

To be frank, I don’t want to be writing this review. I don’t want to be writing it for the simple fact that I’d rather still be reading White Lies. Now I just have what is known in the biz as a book hangover *sob*
The story bounces along, sweeping the reader up along with it, and has a feel-good factor that makes it both unputdownable and downright fantastic. Natalie is incredibly likeable, with Harper nailing the common female trait of overthinking things, making her relatable in a very normal s ...more

Meet Natalie Flemming. She doesn't exactly lead an exciting life. She works at a shoe company as an accountant. She orders plenty of items off of the shopping channel. She wishes she had a boyfriend. “White Lies” makes you fall in love with this believable, independent, hilarious woman as you follow her journey from accountant to marketing executive. Of course, there’s romance along the way! Smoking hot Oliver will have you fanning your face, and their chemistry will make you wish YOU were trapp

Natalie Flemming is looking for the man of her dreams but it is taking her a bit longer than she expected. Tired of unsuccessful dates with guys who don't really see her, she decides to takes matters into her own hands and she publishes an ad to find The One. She starts getting answers for the ad and let's say that she finds herself in some hilarious situations.

Huge thanks to Emily Harper for sending me a free e-copy of this book to review. I was really intrigued by the blurb for this book and the mention of waiting for Johnny Depp to call (as a fan of him myself I too am waiting for that call!) The cover is really bright & inviting, if those legs belong to the main character she has legs to die for!

White Lies is the perfect chick lit self-indulgence. Natalie Flemming, the heroine, is a funny, intelligent and somewhat flakey character whom you can't help but love. Following Natalie's journey through the world of dating is hilariously entertaining. Perhaps what I love most about the story is that while Natalie is the consummate girly girl, she is one smart woman who ultimately decides not to compromise herself in her pursuit of love. She learns that she is worth more than settling for someon

A cute quirky read that had me laughing, smiling, feeling a little sad and loving the romance. Our main character Natalie is like a lot of women who are looking for love, for that perfect someone. Of course she takes plans into action which causes some hilarity to ensue mind you. With an off the bat budding romance, humor around every corner and embarrassment usually right behind it, this book was a great read leaving me hoping for just a little more. Or Johnny Depp since he hasn't returned Nata

I received a copy of this book to review from Goodreads. It has taken me slightly too long to get round to reading it, sorry, but when I did I flew through it. A really quick, happy, little chick lit holiday read. I really enjoyed it. Nothing challenging in either content or style but v enjoyable. My only criticism is although set in London a few Americanisms have slipped in eg sidewalk.
In short a good beach read.

I adored this book! There is nothing better than curling up with a book which contains a great main character...witty, fun and a character I could totally relate to. I so enjoyed being on the journey with Natalie and her funny mishaps. With humor, romance and a great story that flowed flawlessly this is a debut not to be missed! 4.5 stars!!!!

Glad it was only $1
I couldn't even make it past the first chapter of this book and I tried a few times. I disliked the main character almost immediately. I suspect it wasnt the authors intent, but the character came across as juvenile, pathetic and shallow. I didn't wait to find out if she met Mr. Right (or Johnny Depp) because the book is so poorly written I couldn't waste any more of my life reading it. ...more

White Lies
Office romance that truly had me laughing out loud at some of the things going through Natalie's head. Mainly because they are things that have gone through my head too.
Downgraded for the use of "sidewalk" and "automobile". This is a story set in England about an English person, from her point of view, so she should be talking about pavements and cars. I think the author may have been living in Canada too long. (Said with a smile) ...more

Cute, clean romance
Loved Oliver and Natalia. Really enjoyed watching their interactions. Loved that he encouraged and supported her love for marketing and made her feel beautiful. She was quirky and fun. Had me laughing.

The book was amusing, but certainly wasn't well edited. There were lots of typing errors. There were also lots and lots of details left out of this very unrealistic story, but if you just consider that it isn't to be taken too seriously anyway, it is still fun to read.

According to the description, this book is about a woman that decides to stop waiting around for Prince Charming and take fate into her own hands. I picked up the book because it sounded like a cute romcom, one of my favorite genres. Unfortunately, I felt this book was a little lacking. The book starts off with Natalie, an accountant at a shoe-designing firm, who decides she's tired of waiting for her man and puts an ad in a magazine looking for her dream man. Natalie is incredibly flighty and l

I have to admit that I found Natalie irritating for the first few chapters of White Lies. I was very worried that I would never be able to take her seriously so thank goodness she showed her sensible side in the work place fairly early on in the novel. I realised then that she was simply a bit off the wall in her attempts to find a date (or husband)! Her job as head of the accounting department for a fashion shoe company made her seem less flighty and I separa ...more
