When we see cops generally we don’t think they can cause harm right? We think that because they took an oath to protect and serve they can’t cause any harm towards anyone? In the book “police brutality opposing viewpoints”, they give us an overview of people that have dealt with police brutality. I personally would give this book a 3 out of 5 I say this because I honestly don’t think all they say is true you never know if they sugar coat it or not. I picked the book out because the topic on police brutality is so interesting; because I personally had it happened to. It was a traffic stop supposedly but they had gotten real rough just because I had guns in my car and I was taking to jail, in the court I had shown my paper work for all the weapons but still I still was the only one who got consequences. This topic is a big one in our modern age which we can’t control because just how there’s good cops there is also bad cops. The stories that are recorded in the book are 100% true they come from police reports and victims that actually stood up to police but didn’t have luck winning against them. An example for instinct one report says a woman was beat by cops, in April year 2006 Jonnie Pratt a New Orleans schoolteacher was pulled over by police in front of her own home she lived in a middle-class neighborhood. Jonnie was yanked out her car from her hair and after so she was beaten several times before they had turned her around and handcuffed her. The cops then proceeded to doing even more to the schoolteacher she then was maced, shoved to the ground, and kicked in the head, she ended up with a broken wrist, black eye and other facial injuries. The cops excuse was that Jonnie had ran a stop sign two blocks away from her house, when Jonie pulled over in a safe area the cop didn’t believe her. When she took it to court the judge had simply denied the lawsuit against the officer so no real consequences had occurred for the cop. There are many cases that seem unfair and justice seemed to never be quite in favor for the victims, many of these cases seem like cops racial profiled people by their color and the way they look. An example if you're black or Mexican it doesn’t matter they seem to treat everyone like trash but as a reader you can decide for yourself if what police do is reasonable or are they wrong for what they do.
