The world has collapsed and the nightmare is never ending for Emma as she makes an impossible decision, and must live with its consequences. Arthur is found, but what is left is hardly identifiable as human, whether he will live or not is in question, but Emma’s sense of responsibility, loyalty and love leave her no choice but to try to save what is left of him. Is it the right choice? Has she given up too much? Does she place too much stock in her own invincibility, her own self-importance? Doe ...more

I have recently discovered Traci L. Slatton's writing and I am completely enthralled with her series, The After Trilogy. Read my reviews of book one, Fallen, and book two, Cold Light. I never dreamed I'd love this series as much as I do. I was on pins and needles waiting for Far Shore, and I stopped everything (including the book I was reading at the time) to read this book.

Slatton did not disappoint my high expectations: I loved every single second of Far Shore. I did not want the book to end,

So this one started out a little better than the last one ended. Emma is with her husband a daughters. But she dreams of Arthur. And Alexei brings her nightmares. She hasn't been intimate with her husband, and he's about had it with her erotic dreams of Arthur. But it really comes to a head when Emma is summoned to help Jeannie, who is pregnant but really sick, and Arthur, who ended up becoming Alexei's prisoner. Haywood gives her an ultimatum: help her friends and never come back -- never see h ...more

Considering how much I enjoyed the previous two books, this one came up a little short for me. It lacked what I loved most about the preceding books--the interaction of Arthur and Emma in a partnership.
This one was mostly depressing until the end and for a trilogy, it wasn't resolved.

I hope the next book restores my high because Arthur and Emma is a combination that can't be beat.

Review to come later tonight:D

The dystopian genre has been quite popular in the last couple of years, especially when it come to Young Adult books, but truthfully I haven’t read many that are outside the YA subgroup. The After Trilogy (or series?) has frankly been a great discovery and I’m a big fan of the concept and the story. As an adult dystopian book, I think it’s a nice change from the YA genre books that I’m used to reading, since it does allow for darker and more mature themes. If you thought dystopian books only wor ...more

“The heart wants what it wants.”

This statement is proving to be too true for Emma. She made her decision to stand by her husband, Haywood, despite her love for Arthur. She got Beth and Haywood out of Alexei’s camp and was resolute in her decision to remain with her family. Only a month later, Haywood is tired of hearing Emma dream of Arthur and their marriage is just a shell of a relationship. When her friends arrive at her home to ask her to help pregnant Jeannie and rescue Arthur from Alexei’s

"Far Shore" the third book in the intoxicating "After series" begins after Emma and Haywood return home having saved their daughter Beth from the clutches of Alexei and his raiders. As the tension mounts between Emma and her husband she's asked to return to the Outpost City to save Jeannie and her baby as well as to help plan the rescue of Arthur from the raider camp. Angry, Haywood gives her an ultimatum. But, devoted to Arthur and loyal to her friends the choice is simple and she packs to leav ...more

FAR SHORE is the third instalment in Traci L. Slatton’s After series set in the post apocalyptic dystopian future following the Day when the lethal mists began to ravage the world’s population and lands. In the After, many of the survivors have developed psychic powers and special abilities that will all play an important role in the survival of the world.

At the end of Cold Light (book #2) our ‘hero’ Arthur had been taken prisoner by a mad man who knows what it is like to lose everythin

Mon avis en Français

My English review

I loved the first two volumes and I was impatient to discover the third. I thought it would be the last one, but is it really? That we finally would have the last word of the story but I was surprised to see that this was not the case. But I wonder if the author is preparing a fourth book or if finally the book ends on such an open end. But back to the beginning.

We find Emma once again, she is actually living with her children and her husband after saving him
‘The heart wants what the heart wants' seems like such a redundancy. Yet there is that simple truth to the adage where there often seems to be no real choice in the matter. We can ignore it and yet there will always be that ‘what if?’

In Far Shore by Traci L. Slatton, book three of the after series takes us further into the devastation of earth and the causes, yet it also creates a sort of yearning. With the damage the abilities the follow seem strange, yet without them the suffering is even more

“Non-existent scrims of vibration” are the key to the mists now threatening the extinction of mankind anew in this final book of “The After Series” trilogy. Before they can be eliminated, however, there are human obstacles to overcome. Ironically, the mists will be part of the solutions to each indomitable force obstructing success. Each person in this story is developing new powers from the mists’ presence and has to learn to use them for the best of the community.
Initially, however, Emma, our

How do you love something, so much and then accept it is just gone. This series has had me on a hook for days. I raced through all three books without a second to lose. Books one and two had me riveted, and captivated by this post apocalyptic love story. It is a mystery and adventure that I never wanted to stop. Far Shore is the most recent, and last book for the trilogy. I had such high expectations for this book, and it just did not seem to meet them. There is a very big difference from shocki ...more

This is such a great series. I fell in love with Emma and Arthur, as individual characters and as a couple, about the time they started to realize their love themselves in Fallen. Theirs is a powerful, soul shattering kind of love that only happens once in a lifetime. A love that can cause even the most pragmatic mind to act in a completely illogical fashion. Ms. Slatton left me heartbroken with the endings of both Fallen and Cold Light and the plight she left for these two. I so wanted Emma and ...more

Far Shore was my most anticipated book release of the year and may I say that it was well worth the wait! I absolutely love this book (and the After series in general). I had received an advanced reader's copy from Traci L. Slatton and Parvati Press in exchange for an honest review. So, honestly speaking, this is by far my most favorite series. I recommend this book to everyone, it's just that great.

Far Shore takes place in an apocalypse world where the mists exist to destroy anything in its path and infected mankind into insanity. The mists also give certain people special abilities if they don't go mad. At the beginning of the story, Emma is asked to help a friend who is having trouble giving birth. Emma has developed healing power when the mists came into existent. *May contain small spoilers if you have not read book one and two*

Once again Emma was forced to choose between Arthur and Haywood, and once again she chooses her past and her husband. But when she gets word that Arthur has been captured and Jeannie is deathly ill and needs her help, she leaves once again to find the man she really loves.

A lot of loose ends are tied up in this book and the romance really starts to shine through. While there still wasn't what I would call a HEA ending, it was de

I've been following Slatton's After Series now since the first book was released and, frankly, surprised the heck out of me. The first book in the trilogy, Fallen, had me frantically turning pages and thoroughly enjoying a setting that was not only post-apocalyptic, but also more adult in nature. When Fallen was provided to me, I had spent so much time reading Young Adult fiction that I had been craving something more mature and Slatton provided that in spades. Far Shore, the third installment o ...more

This is book three with at least one more coming. I haven't read books 1 or 2. I was quickly able to pick up the story line and put characters in their proper perspective. Emma is the main thread holding these books together. When Arthur created the "mist" to prevent war, the world or technology was destroyed. The mist killed millions around the world and it's developing and getting more powerful. This book focuses on rescuing Arthur from a "war lord" who can't get over the death of his wife and ...more

This trilogy is a suspenseful roller coaster of an emotional ride. I won Far Shore through goodreads so I bought the first two so I could give a appropriate far and honest review. I found the first two rather enjoyable. Some parts were a little hard for me to swallow. Prostituting ones self for one. This is not going to be a happily ever after wrap it in a bow love story. Which I am far more used to. But the great writing made this a very good book series. I have never read anything like this se ...more

Another fantastic book! I was having technical difficulties and could not get the book onto my kindle and I could not wait for my husband to get home and help me so I sat at my computer and read the whole book in the last few hours. Now my neck hurts, but it was worth it. Emma battles to save Arthur, and help her friends and together they hope to find a way to end the mists that have destroyed so much. Great story and makes you really think about things. I look forward to the next book!
This book in the series just fell a little flat for me. Don't get me wrong, I still very much like this series it's just that this book felt like filler. Yes, there were a few developments but they just seemed thrown in there before they were fully formed. The writing, the characters, the world are still intriguing and I'm looking forward to the next book. This one just left me scratching my head when I was finished.

I feel like this book was a filler. There wasn't a whole bunch of mind-bending action and the tough parts are conquered early on in the book. Then it seems like there is just a whole bunch of waiting.

The cool thing was that I was sure I knew how it was going to end. But I was wrong. There is an open end. There will be a fourth!
