It Happened To Me! #5

Fortean Times: It Happened To Me! Volume 5

We all love to hear other people's accounts of the strangest things that have ever happened to them. Some of these tales are amusing, some just a wee bit odd. Some are vaguely unsettling, disturbing even, and remind us that for all our faith in a predictable everyday reality, the world has a habit of turning distinctly odd or slightly surreal every once in a while. And then there are the stories best read at night, perhaps, by the light of a flickering candle - which send a shiver down the spine and make you look nervously over your shoulder. You will find examples of all these within these pages, from a baffling encounter with a man dressed as a giant rabbit to a terrifying run-in with a violent poltergeist. Not to mention accounts of hauntings, premonitions, timeslips, teleportations and weird old ladies. And new mysteries are constantly popping up to surprise and spook us, like the numerous baffling cases of Dog-Headed Men and scary Shadow People that we present here for the first time.

I love the short true tales of these books. While some are a little boring, or not very eventful (although I understand that to the witness, it had meaning), some of them give me a chill down the spine, and enter my imagination as a stranger-than-fiction story idea.

I read Volume 6 just before this one because it came in the post before Volume 5 arrived.

And then while reading this one on the train, I came across a story that looked so familiar that my mouth dropped open in shock for several minutes. It was a story I had written, something that happened to a friend many years ago that I had written in to the FT mag as a letter.

It may have taken me 5 years to eventually buy this volume, but I'm glad I did!!!

To date 18/4/2014 this is only sold as a tiny paperback book. why is this not on kindle? and its a tiny paper book, that ended up costing me £9 by the time postage was added on, unless i purchased over £10 of goods from amazon, are they for real? absolute disgrace, I dont know why they stopped selling this book at W H SMITHS, when they did it was never this extortionate. I also didnt find the stories to be as good as the previous books
