This was a very thorough and fascinating recounting of the Saxon immigration to Missouri in the late 1830's. It took me a while to wade through, but I'm glad I did. I found the writing engaging, but it is a history book, so it probably comes across as "dry" to the casual reader. I didn't find it to be so because I was genuinely curious about the unfolding story. If only I knew German so I could understand all the footnotes and references!
