I am reading "Cream Hill" while sunbathing on the shores of Cream Hill Lake at "the club." Having lived in the town all my life, I found Gannett's detailed stories about Cream Hill to be very interesting because all of the names and places are quite familiar to me. Were it not for my personal interest in Cream Hill, I might not have waded through the material as eagerly. It is an informative, light read, which I would like to award 3.5 stars because it's not quite a 4 but better than a 3.

At first I thought Gannett was just trying to be EB White, but now I'm really enjoying this book and I've started to appreciate Gannett's own style.
