Alyssa Satin Capucilli was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. She graduated from Sarah Lawrence College, and pursued her interest in dance, becoming a professional dancer and dance instructor. Though Capucilli had written stories, poems, and even puppet shows as a child, she didn't consider a career as a writer until after her own two children were born. To this day she sees herself as both a dancer and a writer, and the two professions complement each other nicely: dancing is, in her words, “telling stories in another way,” and readers of her children's books can attest to the rhythm of her language. Since 1994, she has written more than 15 books for children, and her work has been translated into French, Hebrew, Afrikaans, Greek, and Bulgarian.

Capucilli lives in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York, with her husband and children. They have a chocolate Labrador retriever named Huckleberry, who likes to watch the author at work.

A sweet bedtime story about the night animals waking up as we are going to bed. Full of beautiful illustrations. The glow-in-the-dark aspect is very cool, though we are rarely on one page long enough for it to charge well. :)
Arianna loves to uncover the different animals and make their noises (noises she has made up all on her own, all of which are probably nothing at all like the noises the animals really make, except the owl).

A glow in the dark, lift the flap book about animals that wake up as little children are going to sleep. Animals include owls, raccoons, moths, bats, and more. The moon glows in the dark, but I'm assuming that it might be a little difficult to fully "charge" the moon in order for it to glow.

Cute book, and lift the flaps are always fun. Nothing extraordinary, though.

Very cute book about what kind of creatures come out to say hello to the moon. The children from Ms. Shin's kinder class loved finding the surprises under the flaps!!
