Sometimes the only way to salvation... is to take a leap of faith.

What would you do if you had no place to go and no one you could trust?

Last night I was in the mood to read the hero saves abused heroine trope. I really wanted a military/fighter hero but after searching for an hour and a half of searching I settled for this because it was the closest freebie I could find. This "sweet sensitive" hero was kind of a creep. He would say oh hey i need to give her space let her come to me. Then he would crowd her knowing he'd made her uncomfortable but never apologize and also saying things like "you know i'

I was lucky enough to get to beta read this book. It is my favorite book by Susan Griscom so far and that is saying a lot. I love her work and Beautifully Wounded surpassed my expectations.

Lena is a woman who has found herself in a very abusive marriage. An intense scene in the first chapter painted a very clear portrait of a relationship gone dangerous. Susan's descriptions brought the story to life for me. I felt as if I was in the house with Lena and my heart raced with each second she had t

Two weeks after getting married Lena discovers she made a horrible mistake. Her husband, Troy, becomes extremely controlling and starts hitting her. Lena never thought she would end up in this situation, feeling weak, with a man having complete and utter control over her.

After a long night of drinking, Troy comes home and takes his aggression out on Lena. She knows if she doesn't get away, he's going to end up killing

Where shall I even begin? I am sorry to say this, but I hated the main character in the beginning. I was close to giving up because she annoyed me that much. And I'm sorry but this book / the story is very illogical at times. Also, there's nothing positive to say about the romance cause really there's only some instalust and instalove and instatrust which can in no way be considered believable.
And the rest about this novel (like the romance) is just so goddamn cliché. But what probably annoyed

I've not heard of this author until I signed up to review as part of a blog tour. I'm so delighted I signed up.
The Fawn is an emotional rollercoster of a story. Although this is a romantic book there is domestic abuse in it oh and a brilliant storyline!!

To save her life Lena runs away from everything and everyone she knows. She walks into Jackson's bar. The friendship/relationship between these two is brilliant to read. I'm not going into details ab

Such an amazing book i loved reading it! Most authors are scared to talk about abuse but i think every women out there needs to know there is always someone where to go...

This book is about a 20 year old women that thought she fell in love and got married. Not even a week after being married things changed for the worse. There was always signs but she was to scared to tell anyone what was really happening. Finally Lena got to a breaking point when Troy went to far and was going to take her life

The Fawn had me turning its pages until the very end. It's a very touching, emotional and gripping story that many fans of the genre will enjoy.

Lena found herself in a unwanted and very dangerous situation. After some time and planning, she found a way to get out of it, for good! It was a dangerous idea, but she'll finally be free of all of the verbal, physical, emotional and spiritual abuse she's been tolerating for too long.
Lena needs to stay far away from him, the area, friends and all in or

A beautifully written tale of love and betrayal. Lena falls into the trap of marrying a guy at the spur of the moment. By the time she finds out it was just too late. So she runs away from and finds refuge with Jackson who is also a PI along with multiple another talent. The book is full of emotions which will make you realize that romance when gone sour can be dangerous. Coming out of an abusive marriage takes a lot of guts and I salute all women who have been able to do that. Such stories shou ...more

Quite readable but fairly predictable on how the story would unfold. Kudos for tackling the subject of domestic violence, the opening was fairly graphic but necessary to set up the character of Lena. Jackson was just a bit too perfect, I like my hero to have a few flaws!

It's the 1st book I've read by Susan Griscom, but it most definitely will NOT be the last one I read!
Susan Griscom’ s newest book, “The Fawn”, (Book 1 in her new series, The Beaumont Brothers), eloquently scaled the staircase of human emotions; despair, fear, flight/fight, re-birth, and ultimately the blossoming of a young woman, Lena Harrington, who becomes someone she likes, and experiences not only the ability to give true love, but also to accept true love. The latter is not an easy thing to

The Fawn is a very deep an emotional read and it grabs you right from the start. I am changing the way I do my review for this book because it was touching. In the Fawn we meet Lena, and right from the first page, you are left with a gut wrenching and gripping moment. I was so overwhelmed with grief, sadness and anger. Lena finally finds the strength and courage to leave her abusive, husband Troy.

Beautifully Wounded (formerly The Fawn) was a wonderfully gripping story about rising above oppression, finding salvation, discovering beauty and joy in the little things, and the transformative properties of true love...

A contemporary new adult romance, Beautifully Wounded follows Lena through her journey as she escapes from a terribly abusive husband and finally strikes out on her own, all the way to where

This was a beautiful and very emotional book. I really enjoyed it and couldn't put it down. Lena is such a strong character but she has no idea about her own strength, she puts her self down so much due to the abusive relationship she's suffered through for the last year but (as Jackson pointed out) the fact that she finally defended herself and ran from her abusive ex took a lot of courage and strength. She's plagued by thoughts of her ex finding her and killing her for daring to hit back and r ...more

This is my 5 snowflake review for The Fawn by Susan Griscom for Eskimo Princess Book Blog.

Lena Harington is a scared young woman on the run. When her husband, Troy, attacked her for the thousandth time one night, she fought back. She had decided to never allow him to kill her like her stepdad had killed her mother. So, when he attacked, she stabbed him in the stomach with a steak knife. Now she is armed with nothing but a trench coat, with nothing underneath, a little money she had saved up, an

Lena Benton has had enough! She has been abused by her husband Troy who she has been married to for only a year. Lena has to get away from Troy and as far far away as she can go...

After the final straw of being abused Lena escapes with nothing but the jacket on her back and the shoes in her car. Luckily she was able to put some money aside because she knew that she was going to leave just not under the circumstances of what had happened to her.

This book is about a subject that is not talked about enough let alone wrote about. Spousal abuse. Susan Griscom has taken a subject that is hard to deal with and wrote from each one of the main characters perspective. This book is one that made me cry, get mad, and laugh all through the book.

Lena realized that Troy, supposedly her prince, was not what he seemed to be. He beat her for little things, but the one night he was beating her, she knew if she didn't get away he would beat her to death

This was my first Susan Griscom book but if def won't be my last!!

Lena Harington has had enough!! She knows if she stays with her abusive husband Troy any longer he will kill her just like her stepfather killed her mother. When Troy comes home one night and starts abusing her yet again the only way to get away is to stab him in the stomach with a knife. Not knowing if she killed him or not she knows she has to run and leave it all behind.

I honestly didn’t know what to expect of this book; I did know it would be different than Susan’s other novels, more specifically her steamy paranormal Whisper Cape romance series. I also knew that The Fawn dealt with some form of domestic violence, which at first put me on edge: would it be graphically disturbing, and would I be put off by the violence brought upon an innocent young woman? The answers were yes, and no. While any form of violence against women is disturbing, I was not put off.

This is the second book by the amazing Susan Griscom that I have had the privilege of reading. And again she surpassed my expectations and blew this out of the park. Despite this book having darker subject matter, it was also lighthearted and a romantic read. While reading this novel I had a roller coaster of emotions. I even teared up a bit. And I liked how it showed the difference between a good relationship and a bad o

The Fawn by Susan Griscom is a contemporary NA romance. It follows Lena as she escapes a bad relationship and finds love and friendship.
The story begins with an intense scene between Lena and her abusive a-hole of a husband Troy. This scene allows the reader to understand Lena's motivation for running and her fear.
When Lena finds her way to a little town in another state she meets Jackson and learns to trust again. Jackson is an amazing guy...and definite book boyfriend material.

This was a very enjoyable quick read.

When you write about domestic abuse there is a very fine line between too much detail that it becomes insensitive or very little detail so you can never empathize with the character as you will never get a full picture of what is happening. But Susan walks the line perfectly, the beginning of the book is very respectfully written and shows a true picture of domestic abuse without being insensitive.

This book kept me gripped from the very beginning, the only c
