3.5-4 Hot and Cold stars!!

I really, really enjoyed this story. I also really, really disliked it. This was one of the times I did not write a review immediately after I finished the book. I needed to think about what I read and process not just how it made me feel, but all other aspects like plot, writing style, and characters that set my final rating between 3.5-4 stars.

What I liked :

-Writing style: fluent, poignant, and passionate. One of the reasons why I could.not.stop.reading.
- Secondary characters. Darby and Trace rocked the house.
- Plot: the past/present POVs really created tension and kept the ball rolling.
- Explaining the nitty-gritty scenes. Full details at some parts were appropriate and other blackout scenes were appreciated.

What I didn’t like :

- Stan and Mimi. The nicknames, I mean. What’s wrong with calling them Tristan and Mia? Those are perfectly beautiful and catchy names. To me, Stan sounds like a forty year-old senator and Mimi a stripper name.
- The secondary characters stole the show. This is supposed to be Tristan and Mia time, their story, and though I truly enjoyed Darby and Trace more than them, their story should’ve been moved to book 2, where the author even announced that there would be one for them, titled “Catch and Release.”
- Not all the bad guys got justice. They ALL deserve to rot in a hellhole.
- The cliffhanger. I probably should clarify my definition of a cliffhanger. I perceive a standalone to have a fully resolved ending and (preferably) an HEA, though it’s not necessary. The ending of this one won’t kill you, but it definitely left me with my mouth hanging open. Like “this was ending with such a nice epilogue and you drop this on me now ?”

So what’s this story about?

Mia Reeve is hiding. Her life hasn’t been an easy one, and the choices her Dad made really screwed her over. In one night, Mia’s trust, faith, and sense of direction is taken away, and she suffers daily nightmares as a result of her traumatic event. The book begins with Mia as a freshman in college, skittish and dubious in her surroundings. Cue THE Tristan Chamberlain, the sexy, commitment-phobe who walks into her life. She dislikes him on sight.

“I owe you one…or two. How about you let me know when you want to collect on that.” -Tristan

Christ, he really must think he’s God’s gift to women. -Mia

However, the attraction between the two is undeniable, and as they grow closer in their friendship, their feelings for one another intensify.

“I think slow is out the window, Mimi. I’m falling for you, big time. I never thought I would ever have something like this, never believed that I deserved it at all, but I’ve changed because of you.”

description

Their relationship builds up slowly, and partly because of the MASSIVE secrets these two are hiding. Ugh. Just thinking about them made me want to go punch some holes in the wall. I have to admit here, I applaud Mia’s leap of faith in trusting Tristan with her past. I would have gone bat-shit crazy and eventually end up in a lunatic asylum.

By far, my most favorite character is DARBY! This chick not only kicks some serious ass, she’s also one of the most faithful, accepting, and deep characters I’ve ever read about. A best friend that any girl is lucky to have. Like I mentioned, I was much more interested in Trace and Darby’s relationship than Tristan and Mia’s. Maybe because their’s was much more complex and I was so certain that Tristan and Mia were going to end up together? That being said, it does not mean I didn’t like Tristan and Mia. I did, and I was completely invested in their emotional journey. Some of those twists and turns left me gasping and “oh no-ing,” so I was definitely there with them.

Overall, this story was extremely well-written (minus the cliffhanger) and I’d recommend it to any NA reader who enjoys the bad boy reformed theme!!

This was my first read by Ella Fox and it definitely will not be my last. From the very beginning I was pulled in and I knew I was reading something special. I was an emotional trainwreck while reading this, alternating between laughing, crying, swooning, and bawling my eyes out to hard that I couldn't see my Kindle anymore. The main characters were two of my favorites, and the side characters were fantastic additionts to the story and I can't wait for more books in the series!

The prologue alone was intense, gripping, and left me wanting more. Leo can sum up my feelings perfectly!

description

When we first meet Mia, aka Mimi, we learn that she's got a shitty dad and a traumatic past. She's heading off to college where she meets her awesome new roommate, Darby, who I LOVED. She still has nightmares about what happened to her, and I was on the edge of my seat wondering what in the hell happened to her. And let me tell you...when we get the flashback? My heart felt like it was being ripped out of my chest. I was screaming, crying, and feeling every bit of pain that Mia was feeling, and my heart broke for her. Ella Fox drew me right into the scene, and I felt like I was watching it, and it angered me and shattered me to pieces.

On the first day of class she meets super sexy hot-as-sin Tristan, aka Stan, and to be honest, I fell in love with him in a heartbeat. He's everything I want my NA guy to be. Super sexy, swoon worthy, sweet, and a little bit broken. Like Mia, he has issues stemming from his past that cause him to keep people at a distance, but something about Mia makes him want more, even if she resists.

description

As Tristan and Mia's friendship progresses it's pretty apparent that these two are going to fall and they're going to fall hard. Unfortunately, Mia's dealt with guys like Tristan and has no interest in starting a relationship where she's bound to get burned. So they fall into an easy friendship, and it was so fun to watch them grow closer as Tristan started to tear down all of Mia's wall and get inside her heart.

description

This book had everything that I love when it comes to New Adult, and it started with the characters. I love both Mimi and Stan so fiercely. Mia, despite what she'd been through, was such a strong female lead. I already told you what I loved about Tristan, and well, that's pretty much everything. He is VERY high on the book boyfriend shelf! Their journey isn't easy, it isn't instant, and it isn't painless. Watching Stan and Mimi overcome their pasts together was beautiful, heartwarming, and freeing. These are two characters that will stay with me for a very long time. I cannot wait to read more from Ella Fox, especially about Trace, Tristan's brother!

Any book that gets skimmed more than 30% gets a 1-star. Oh, and books that I want to DNF at 37%, 50%, and 78% deserves 1 star. (But I HATE not finishing a book so I plowed through. How, you ask? I skimmed the shit out of it.)

1. Juvenile writing.
2. Forced angst.
3. Unrealistic plot development.
4. The sub-plot was more interesting and angsty than the primary plot.
5. RIDICULOUS dialogue and character interaction:
6. RIDICULOUS chain of events/climax of events:
7. Silly epilogue. Yes, SILLY. I literally laughed out loud when I read the last line.

Oh, and hello?? In the epilogue Tristan (I refuse to refer to him as Stan...it's a dumb nickname.) writes:

One Year
Twelve Months
Three Hundred and Sixty-Five Days
Eight Thousand Seven Hundred and Sixty-Five Minutes

Everyone knows that one year is "Five Hundred Twenty Five Thousand Six Hundred Minutes!!"

Rent, anyone?

Anyone?

No?

OK, well, I didn't like this book. I like that the author is trying to bring about awareness to sexual assault but this just wasn't a well-told story.

I love supporting Indie writers but too many are pushing out material that hasn't been properly beta read and edited to expose inconsistencies and redundancy.

Catch My Fall is a story of redefining yourself, making life choices and the unquenchable need of love, trust and frienship.
The story not only breaks your heart a little but makes you wonder about the consequences our choices bring, even the smallest ones.

Mia and Tristan are both college students with somewhat harsh experiences.
They manage to go through everyday life with two totally different attitudes but as it goes with differences, they bring people together.

"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much" Hellen Keller

"Love does not consist in gazing at each other, but in looking outward together in the same direction" Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I'd recommend this book to all fans of Beatiful Disaster or Fear of Falling.

Teaser:
The two of us huddled together over the table as we turned all of the pieces right side up and separated out all of the border pieces. From time to time our arms brush together, something that was I enjoying far too much. He smelled amazing, so good that it made me ache to touch a lot more than just his arm.
Our heads were close together in our position over the table and it was making me a little (okay, a lot) crazy to be so close to him. I wasn’t focusing on the puzzle at all and my hands had stopped trying to assemble the border. Turning his head to me, he opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out. We were eye to eye staring at each other, the silence trapped between us.
I saw him leaning closer as his hands came up to cup my face, and I didn’t pull away or try to stop him. For the first time in my entire life, I really, really wanted to be kissed. It’s not like I’ve never been kissed before; clearly I have. But when you’re the child of someone who got pregnant in high school, you get a lot of safety lectures. Add to that the fact that my father has never missed an opportunity to espouse what a selfish and manipulative person my mother is for ‘trapping’ him and what a ‘burden’ her ‘tricks’ had been for him and I think it’s clear to see why I steered away from intimacy in high school like it was my job.
Tristan’s lips covered mine gently as he started softly before deepening the kiss. When we turned to face each other fully, I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and ran my fingers through his hair. He tasted better than I could ever have imagined, and he kissed me like he had a cheat-sheet for what would make me feel the best. I’ve never been kissed so passionately, or held as if I really matter to someone. Tristan cradled me in his arms like I was precious to him.
We pulled apart at the same time a few minutes later, and because he didn’t let me go, I didn’t let him go, either. We stared at each other in silence for a few moments, and I smiled shyly at him, even as I felt a blush steal across from my face.
He smiled back at me as he continued to stare at me with a look of confusion as the seconds passed before he spoke. “Holy Hell Mia… You make me feel… I don’t even know. Different?”
That’s like the pot calling the kettle black. The way I feel around Tristan is entirely new. “Right back at you,” I said quietly.

I really enjoyed Mia (MiMi) and Tristan's (Stan) story.

Mia escapes a traumatic experience, a neglectful bastard of a father, and a terrible stepbrother, and begins her new life in a new town, attending college. It is where she meets a very handsome, sexy Tristan, who holds secrets in his past as well. Their love story is sweet, despite all the sadness that has tainted both of their lives. I felt heartbroken and tearful, they both experienced great pain so early in life. I loved the way they conquered their unfortunate circumstances and proved the love does mend the heart.

I wanted to see more interaction between these two love birds. The love scenes were delicious, but I craved more of the "getting to know you" part of the story. Although the story is dark, there were times that these two make to laugh.

I am looking forward to reading the next installment in this series.

I freaking loved this book! Ella Fox had me at hello with The Hart series. I couldn't get enough of those characters! Now, she's made me fall in love with all of these new characters and I can't wait for the books to follow. This story was about healing and love after traumatizing pasts. It was written beautifully and unravelled with perfect timing. I literally devoured this book....in fact, I'm functioning horribly today from lack of sleep! Who needs sleep when you can immerse yourself into one of Ella's books?! Ella has a great way of intertwining the characters and their stories. It makes the stories very interesting! Buy this book...you won't be disappointed.

Ella Fox is one of my favorite authors, so from the start, her prologue just blew me the hell away!! And that’s how she starts it off. All freaking angsty…

So here we go, on another whirlwind that Ella takes us on with Catch My Fall. We start off with Mia Reeves. She is a college freshman, enrolling in a school nowhere near her hometown; on purpose of course. She needs a fresh start and does NOT want to be around anybody she knows. I wonder why? Insert totally fucking cool roommate Darby. I love these two together. If I could pick a roommate in college it would be Darby. They become fast friends. And she definitely has Mia’s back.

Photo Oct 16, 12 54 33 PM

And right away Mia meets Tristan, a boy from her Math class. HOLY hell. She is taken back by his amazing chocolate brown eyes, dark hair all sexy and yes a “schmexy” voice to boot. The way she explains Tristan, I might just combust. Which is why Mia is all, UM hell no…I don’t need this HOT Cocky ass in my face. She hates guys like this. Reminds her too much of…..well we will get to that.

Turns out Tristan also has twin named Trace! HOLLA!!!!!!! Um, can’t get any better than having a hot twin. And everybody is friends. Which I love! This book is based on beautiful friendships. Tristan/Trace grew up with Darby and her brother Austin. They all look out for each other. These men are protectors. BUT the twins are much more than that, they are “Malores”. Hahaha!! Love this word!! Male whores! Yep!! Fucking Tristan why did you have to go and ruin your hot ass by banging all of the woman on campus? So not Mia’s style. But regardless they are drawn to each other and form a fast bond! Which is so endearing. Tristan just makes you melt.

All nice nice!! UMMM NO!!! Ella Fox totally throws me all off and gives us Mia’s back story in a series of chapters that flash back to her senior year of high school and we find out the real reason why she is leaving her home town to start a new. This is where it all started for me; my freakin heart pounding out of my chest, my hands were shaking (yep hands were shaking) and yeah, I needed a minute. Maybe it’s just me. Does anybody else get this affected when a story hits you hard? Or maybe its just Ella’s amazing writing skills..?? Maybe, just maybe. Or it’s the story she weaves into something so dark.

Mia, OMG Mia, this poor girl. I will NOT spoiler anything. NOPE! But I will say this. Mia walks around with so much guilt, so much hurt and fear, and it haunts her. Her past IS haunting. And on that one day in her senior year of high school, I can tell you this - her life, her best friend Macy’s life, and the lives of others will NEVER be the same.

Thinking back to those flashback chapters, I wanted to die. I recall putting the book down and I said to myself, Trish, just let out a good cry and we can move on! And I did…See this is why I love Ella Fox…When an author can bring that out in a book, with just words on a page! Yeah! She’s good!

All the while, Mia and Tristan are getting closer and closer. Both are taking it very slow, because that’s what needs to be done. But they both deserve love and to be happy.

Photo Oct 16, 12 54 39 PM

“For the first time in my life I want to try for more, I want to BE more. Can I be more? I don’t know if I deserve to be happy, but I want to try.” - Tristan

Tristan also has major issues and we learn about those later and again, insert another WOW factor.

Mia and Tristan are just amazing together, doesn’t matter what issues they both have and its all so fucking hot, and slow…he takes it nice and slow…but remember, he’s a “Malore”…what he does to her body!!

“How do you make yourself come?
“I don’t…I haven’t…I’ve never.”
“Oh baby,” he whispered, “I’m going to make you come so hard that you’ll never want to stop. I want everything you have Mimi. Everything.”

Take it Tristan. OMG just take it!! He’s got you Mia! Heck, jump on that train!! And ride it!!!

This books end with a bang, which is so Ella Fox. All heart pumping, angsty, hot. And the love story is just heart warming. They are heart warming.

And……….it all continues with her next book…which I can NOT wait for.
Convincing enough, yeah the book rocks! Just click and buy! This Schmexy lady knows a good story and this is a great story!!!

4-4.5 Bad Boy Turned Good Stars

This disclaimer/warning is different than most and goes out to my girls..this is not a bam bam book..It is a YA/NA survivor story on both parts of the lead characters.
[image error] photo sorta_zpsf8d5b139.jpg

Tristan Chamberlain is a Malore..what you ask is that? It is the morphing of male and whore..two things that sum up the kind of relationship guy that Tristan has always been known to be.. He is not a love em and keep em around guy nor is his brother. They keep what they love at arms length but will protect those same people with everything they have! Their life was full of emptiness not ever knowing the meaning of what true love felt like. Taken in by friends after their grandmother passed was the blessing they were waiting for and began their journey to healing and being able to possess what love means.

[image error] photo index_zpsbe3d1c13.jpg

"Since the minute I saw her, I haven't been able to stop thinking about her. She's different where everyone else is the same And for the first time in my life I want to try for more I want to BE more Can I be more? I don't know if I deserve to be happy..." Tristan

[image error] photo Oboseala_Young-Love-by-cdglove2fish_zps2504186c.jpg

Mia is a girl who is running..running from a dickhead father and a tragedy so disgustingly horrible that when I read it I teared up..I rarely EVER tear up. Mia and her best friend shared a past that would destroy most people but Mia found the strength to get through her senior year and get out to start a new life out from under the scrutiny of others. I admire Mia in this story, she had every reason to break and shatter into a million pieces and I felt her strength throughout and cheered for her at every turn. Her best friend Darby was also a character and I look forward to reading her and Trace's story..
[image error] photo 2922154329_1_3_zps0da7818e.jpg

With every tragedy comes the opportunity for a hero to be made I felt like Mia and Tristan were heroes in their own rights. Their love story and friendship had me feeling butterflies, smiles and kept me connected to them from start to the end..by the way "the end" leads into book two. Not a cliffy but a to be continued for sure..

I got lucky enough to Beta Read this awesome book.

As I said before, this is the best YA book I’ve read in a long time.

This is Ella’s first YA book and as usual, she nailed it, I loved it! She has the ability to create strong characters and stories that pull you in, you can't help but relate to them, to feel for them, and that is one skill every author should possess.

Blurb:

Mia Reeve’s faith, trust and sense of security were all taken away in the blink of an eye. In need of a fresh start, she settles into a new town and begins to make a new life.

Tristan Chamberlain has always kept girls at arm’s length and he has no intention of changing. He’s caring, smart, handsome, but he’s also dealing with a lifetime of guilt that’s slowly but surely destroying him.

Sometimes what you run from is the one thing that will save you.

Separately, they’re both free-falling. Together, they’re about to find that love can create the strongest safety net of all.

So this is the story of Mia and Tristan…

I have to be honest, sometimes Mia pissed me the hell off, I wanted to strangle her, bad, but I have to give her something, she’s one strong girl, and I loved that. When things between Tristan and her seemed shaky, she stood her ground, fought for them and set Tristan’s head straight, that one made me like her ;). She went through so much, so many bad things, that I actually felt bad, really bad for her.

Tristan, well, he’s swoony, he is damaged, he doesn’t think he is worthy of love.

Some reviews say he is a bad boy turned good, to me, he never was a bad boy, he was a good man who went through a lot, was born into some weird crap and needed some TLC and reassurance, enter Mia and everything is right with the world. Just like it should’ve been since the beginning.

My reaction at some point to explain who my favorite characters are:

Midian Sosa is 57% done with Catch My Fall: I know the book is about Tristan but TRACE!!

Yes, my favorite characters are Darby and Trace and I seriously CAN’T WAIT for this one! And Catch My Fall is not even out yet, I know lol, I’m crazy.

Darby is a tough cookie, a bad ass and I love her, she took a lot of shit from Trace before but after she’s done with it, it makes him realize that he can’t live without her and man, did I love that…

It doesn’t matter if you are a YA lover or not, this book should be on your shelve and that’s final!

While I applaud the author for bringing more awareness to sexual assault, I just had sooooo many problems with this book. Here are the main ones:

1) The nicknames Stan (made me think of Dorothy's ex-husband on Golden Girls) and Mimi (made me think of the crazy makeup lady from The Drew Carey Show) were awful.

2) The slut-shaming. I guess it's ok for guys to be manwhores (because they have a heart of gold, of course), but not girls. They're just horrible tramps with no redeeming qualities. Not cool. Plus, Tristan was the least believable manwhore ever.

3) Two of the most overused plot point in NA books: the manwhore and the virgin, and the "you're too good for me" guy. I'm beyond tired of these story lines.

4) The characters were constantly having these long, drawn-out monologues where they were over explaining everything. That's the kind of thing that makes me start skimming. On top of that, Tristan and Mia's conversations were just too cheesy and unbelievable.

5) Mia's father started out as a jerk, but by the end he was an over the top cartoon villain.

I could list more, but I don't want to pile on. I know authors work hard on their books, and I support indie authors, but I also believe in giving honest reviews.

Stuck between 3-4 Stars

OK, I am a fan of Ella Fox's and always will be but this book left me in a quandary, lol. What I really loved was Mia and yes, I ended up loving Tristan too but at the start, hmmmm, I wasn't so sure. The biggest turn-off for me was the whole Tiffany revelation that came out at the pool hall, yeah, that really turned me off and after that I had a hard time to get completely on board not just with Tristan but Trace too! My heart BROKE for Darby and hurt for Mia, too but oh gosh that part of the story really struck a nerve with me..... Sorry, that's just my own personal feelings on that particular event! It's too bad because without that part, I would have been on board a lot more and maybe could have felt more of the story without that sour taste in my mouth!

Mia's story was utterly heartbreaking as well as Tristan's and I was so damn happy they found their "happy" with each other as they both deserved it. The ending was beautiful and I LOVED it!!!!!

Catch My Fall is the story of Mia and Tristan. A new adult story about two broken souls walking scared through life because of their brutal pasts. When they meet there's an uncanny connection neither can ignore. It's a sweet story and I enjoyed the friendship of Tristan and Mia's relationship. They worked hard to preserve the friendship they both cherished while navigating stronger feelings. The secondary characters, Darby especially, provided extra layers to the story as well. I gave the book three stars because while it was good and I liked it, something prevented me from connecting with it to make me really love it. I've read others along the same lines that were more emotionally charged and feeling with many layers; with this is it more of a surface deep read. I do look forward to reading Darby's story in the second installment.

This book is AMAZING, AWESOME, SPECTACULAR, STELLAR, OVER THE TOP AWESOME! It is this kind of books that you regret that we only have 1 to 5 stars rating, if I could I would give it a thousand stars!! (yes it´s that awesome)

So, this is story of Mia. She has a troubled past with walls Everest high around her until Tristan comes along...

They meet in class and the rest is history. It´s a pretty intense book due to the MCs back stories, but every turn and emotional roller coaster is the worth it. I think this book is one of my faves of faves!!

Read it, you won´t be dissappointed :)

Quite a surprising read

Pretty average read. I liked the characters and the storyline but I felt like something was missing. The story needed more but I did appreciate some of the twists and the relationship between the characters. Could’ve been better.

There are certain NA books that I seek out. The heroine has to be likeable with a past and the hero has to a bad boy with a tortured past. Okay, I cannot get enough of these books. Books like Catch My Fall.

Mia Reeves chose a college 5 hours away from home so she could escape her town where she experienced something horrific. It was horrific. Certain parts were hard for me to read. Tristan Chamberlain also has a past, one that he keeps to himself and lets sit deep inside him. Tristan is a Malore as Mia’s roommate, Darby, like to call him. Malore stands for “male whore.”

Mia knows all about guys like Tristan and she has no interest in getting involved with him even when he pulls some of his best lines/moves on her. I liked the fact that Mia’s characters did not act like a b***ch when she let Tristan know that she was not interested in becoming another girl that he would sleep with and leave the next morning. And I loved that Mia was not easy and this book was not inst-love. There was definitely insta-attraction, but Mia and Tristan started out as friends. You got to know the characters and the reader got to connect to them. I also loved the secondary characters Darby and Trace. The reader got a little insight on their “relationship.”
Some of the verbiage was a little awkward, but I got into the story so it did not bother me too much. The only other part that bothered me was that I did and didn’t understand why Tristan ran when Mia finally told him what happened to her.

This was a nice read. I did not skim, I did not find Mia or any of the other characters annoying. I think what happened to Mia happens to many girls who are too afraid to come forward. I know when my daughter is of a certain age I will talk to her about the subject. It is a hard subject to talk about, but I feel it is very important and it can happen to anyone. I think the author did a nice job making it part of the story.

First time read by this author. This is a book I've had on my "TBR" list since it was released in late 2013. I don't know how I let it slip through my fingers for so long -- but noting that the second installment hasn't yet been released, it may have been a good slip on my part.

Shockingly good story. I had a truth come at me when I realized that good can come in spite of evil. I wrestle with abortion issues (there is not abortion in this story but there is rape, hence my struggle) still but Ella Fox shows us that good comes despite evil when there is love.

There is a trigger for those who don't care for a rape scene even if done with sensitivity (if that is entirely possible). It's still brutal to read.

My favorite Ella Fox.

You know I've been talking to Ella on Twitter for months now. We have the best naughty conversations #TwitterAfterDark. I promised myself that I needed to read all the books I kept pushing back in 2014. So I chose 10 books I wanted to knock out my Kindle. This one was one of them. I would also like to say that not once did Ella push me into reading it. Why Ella? Why? I now give you permission to say: "B, read my shit!!"

I would like to start off by saying: FINALLY. A broken soul, Mia Reeves, who yes is pretty messed up after quite a few traumatic events. Let me be honest, it's fucked up what happens to her. I hate her sperm donor and I hate his puppet Brady even more. I would like to skin those two alive, or maybe tie them up and cut their balls off and make a shake and feed it to them after I wire their jaws shut together. I'm sorry I went a little postal there. Not only is it messed up what happens to Mia, but what happens to her BFF Macy for not wanting to listen to her in the first place is even worse. How can these two girls survive? I'll tell you how. With the support of some real people who always stood by them. Mia's Mom and Macy's parents. Sadly they were from a small town and what happens in a small town? Everyone talks. Specially when the people involved have money. I'm going to give a small spoiler because I need to explain why the girls were separated for a while. Macy has a nervous breakdown and is placed into a mental institution in another town and Mia decides to go elsewhere for college. Away from it all. Can you blame her? Absolutely not.

It seems that we always get into the male character more than the female. Not that Tristan Chamberlain doesn't deserve the praise. He's perfect I tell you. And guess what else? He has a twin...Gaaahhhhh, Trace. Those damn Doublemint Gum commercials kept playing in my head except Tristan and Trace were naked. I can't help it ok. So anyways, Tristan also has a few issues which have made him the "Bad Boy" that he is. It's not easy what happened to him and Trace either. These two had their own rough times.

Thanks to her Bad Ass roommate Darby Mckenzie and a "forgotten" pen they meet. I knew right away that these two, Mia and Tristan, needed each other. They needed to fix each other. I won't share anymore spoilers because it's absolutely Beautiful every first they have. You feel it right in the bottom of your stomach and maybe even in the back of your cold little hearts. Yup I'll admit even some scenes had me choking and tearing up. Darby was just perfect for the story also. I feel like she gave Mia some hope. I wanted to hug them and eat ice cream and chocolates like if we all had our periods while watching The Notebook or some sappy movie that requires many tissues. There are just so many emotions.

I guess you can say that Tristan was the runner. It was awful because Mia trusted him enough to tell him everything. I was a little upset at him but not for long. Darby knew it wasn't her place, but she also knew she needed to tell Mia what was going on. But what I loved the most was how Mia fought for Love. Fought for Tristan. When the going got tough, she didn't give up. Yes, Thank You Mia, thank you so very much for not being weak. Tristan and Mia were each other's Healers, Heroes❤️

HEA? There are quite a few and I'm keeping my big ass lips sealed. This story wasn't rushed. I loved the pace and how everything worked out. Their relationship, the many great characters, the surprises, the firsts, the struggles, secrets, everything blended in just right. There is this one specific scene I was cursing in both English and Spanish. The scene needed to be there though. Why? Because that character needs No Redemption. Burn that Motherfucker. Anyways...read it. It's worth it!

PS...I want the next book NOW!!!

Can't deal with the slut shaming and general anti-woman vibes coming from both main characters. Heroine calls another woman a bitch, a tramp and says she looks like she's "auditioning to work on the pole" for wearing a corset top and jeans???

Worse, the hero PUBLICALY SLUT SHAMES the same girl for having sex with him while also having slept with his twin in the past. No dude,
1. it's weird that you'd want to sleep with a girl you KNOW your twin has already boned.
2. this guy's literal only personality trait so far is that he's a playboy and sleeps around, so why are you slut shaming others for it?

Clearly the author thinks it's okay for men to be sexually experienced but not women.

It's a shame because I was intrigued by Mia's mysterious past and from reading other reviews it appears this story is about sexual assault. An important topic that needs to be handled with care and I'm struggling to understand how you could write authentically about a sexual assault survivor while also shaming women for the way they chose to dress/act in the same piece of work.

Would not recommend.

**ARC kindly received from author in exchange for an honest review by the girls and I at www.sizzlingpages.com **

This was definitely a heart wrenching story at times - Mia's and Macy's story is one that will break your heart, as will Tristan's and Trace's - but along with Darby and their families you will be inspired by the strength all of them have as they face their past and look forward to a better future. It's not all drama though, there are plenty of moments to make you smile with "Stan and Mimi" - so grab a bunch of candy, lots of licorice and enjoy this great story of first love.

2.5 stars, this was sweet but more of a set up for further books.
I liked this story, it was alright. But nothing memorable. I still like this author's voice and look forward to more from her, but I think this book should have been developed more fully into the present rather than a narrative of the terrible pasts that Tristan and Mia had endured and survived. Also, it seemed to be more of a setup for further stories about the people mentioned in this one.

Review:
Ella Fox does it again by making characters that you absolutely fall in love with. Mia Reeves is starting her freshman year of college far away from, just the way she wanted. Mia has had anything but a cake walk in life. She has a very loving mother, step father, and uncle, but her dad is anything but. Mia had very horrible things happen to her, her senior year of high school. Things that alter the person she is now with the nightmares she still suffers from. But Mia is trying to move forward by leaving her hometown to start fresh at a college on the other side of the state.

Mia’s first day of class she meets Tristan Chamberlian. She soon learns from her new roommate/friend Darby that Tristan is a Malore (male whore). Mia tells her then and there to stay away from the very hot Tristan… only Tristan has other plans. He is soon a fixture in Mia’s life and she slowly learns that she really likes him.

Tristan has always had a love them and leave them rule. With his good looks and charming personality he hasn’t ever had a problem finding girls. Then one day while walking into one of his classes he spotted the most beautiful girl that he has ever seen, and begins to wonder if he could change his ways. Can he take things slow with Mia so they can be more than friends to one another?

There are also supporting character stories that are amazing as well. Like Mia’s friend Macy. Macy and Mia were best friends and did everything together in high school. They even share the same story of the awful night both of there lives were forever changed. I really don’t want to say to much about Macy because I don’t want to give away the amazingly heart breaking journey that her character takes you on.

Then we also have Darby and Trace. Darby is Mia’s roommate, and Trace is Tristan’s twin brother. Darby has known Tristan and Trace because they lived across the street from each other when they were kids. Then when Tristan and Trace’s grandmother that raised them passed away Darby’s family took the boys in. Only Darby and Trace don’t look at each other as brother and sister. They have had sex off and on since she was sixteen, but they have never been an official couple. Trace doesn’t feel that he is good enough for Darby so he pushes her away by having sex with other girls and lots of them. Can Darby get Trace to admit his feelings to her before she finally moves on for good?

I must say Ella Fox never disappoints me. She always delivers an amazing story with compelling characters that draw you in until the very end. I first fell in love with Ella’s writing in her Hart Family Series (which I highly recommend) and once I heard she was writing this book I knew I had to read it. Even though its different from her other books she did an amazing job writing about getting over ones past, healing, finding love, and looking forward to make a better future for themselves.

Favorite Quotes

"Oh Mimi… What’re you doing to me?" Adjusting my arms I hugged him tightly as I dropped my head and laid it on his shoulder. "Don’t know, but whatever it is, you’re doing it to me, too."

"Nothing that you’re doing is tainting me, not at all. You’re healing me, every single day, every single kiss, every single word; you’re healing me. You’re giving me a gift that you don’t even understand you’re giving."

"I choose you, Stan. I CHOOSE YOU. I can handle anything as long as you’re here to catch me. Don’t you ever run from me again, and don’t you ever say that you’re not good enough for me. You saved me."
