Ineke Valance otherwise known as "The Angel" and assumed to be male by the majority of the population because of the disguise she wears when she goes out to get the bad guys, works as a vigilante and is paid as a consultant for the police--they are not allowed to do what she can or is capable of doing. Not to mention that during these years women stayed at home and took care of their families-but Ineke is single and has to provide for her daughter the only way she knows how. She learned her ...more

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this ebook for review purposes. Opinions are 100% my own.

I have to admit. This book was a slow starter for me. But, as I got further into the story I found it harder and harder to put down. The closer Ineke's real life came to colliding with her alter ego's life as the Angel, the more pulled into the story I became. It is a line that many women face, even today. Where does one's role as mother end and other aspects of one's self as an individual begin? How

I found Angel Valence a struggle to read at the start, the beginning was very slow and I almost gave up on it to be honest, but there was light because as the story progressed it got more interesting and picked up pace. The book is based around a single mother Ineke Valence who is also known as The Angel of New York, but people do not know she is both of these people. She trained as a Russian Spy and that has made her great at being The Angel and she manages to keep both role separate. Being The ...more

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Boasting over 500 pages, this book isn't exactly one that you can read in a single sitting unless you have nothing to do at the time. For me it was a bit of a slow read in the beginning and I was tempted to skip ahead. But if you stick with it, it gets better. The story centers around the title character. Actually, the title is a bit of a mashup between the character's true identity, Ineke Valence (the single mom of Elysia) and her

I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

This book has a very slow beginning but if you can get past that, you're completely engrossed in this complex mystery. In the 1920s, after "The Great War", Ineke Valence is a vigilante, trying to make the world a better place for her daughter Elysia. Unfortunately, this current case, if not taken care of, may put her daughter's life in jeopardy. With the twists and turns of former lovers and allies becoming enemies, and the
