Beyond Fate needed to be written and Heather Lyons did the impossible, she made me love Jonah. She took a character that I had no real connection to, she commanded I understand his motives and she made me realize just how deep his hurt goes, not to mention his guilt. It might be a bit extreme to say I had no connection to Jonah but that’s just me being dramatic, when in reality I’m just Team Kellan.

This story broke my heart because it’s as though Jonah was always one step behind. Every decision he made was either the wrong one or because he wasn’t quick enough. All he wanted was this one thing, the one person he had been dreaming about for a lifetime and he loved Chloe without thinking twice about it.

I should’ve pushed for his belief all those years ago, because that lack of faith in my brother has snowballed until this very moment, where our relationship dangles over a very precarious precipice. We are fractured, and I don’t know how to fix it.”

It’s safe to say this is a stress inducing series because you feel everyone’s angst and Beyond Fate is no different. I was constantly feeling a tremendous amount of heart burn for Jonah, would he make peace with Kellan or will he finally find happiness with Chloe? Clearly, I know the outcome since this is the companion novella to A Matter of Fate (#1) but that’s how much this story sucked me back in and it answered so many of my questions.

“Something in me changes, shifts and alters and electrifies and melts and suddenly the worlds make sense. All of the doubts I’d had evaporate as I pull her closer. Home. I’m home. I am finally, mercifully, home with the person I’m meant to be with.”

There was a point in when I was cheering for Jonah and Chloe. *gasp* I wanted them to be together and find that happiness they both deserve and I realized, there is no villain in this story but only fate and she’s evil.

“Thank you, he tells me before fading away again, and I can’t help but wonder if this is what my life is going to be like now: constantly stuck between the two of them.”

If you haven’t given the Fate Series a chance, trust me…you must because it’s absolutely fabulous!!! ;) ...more

I don’t even know where to begin with this review… I feel like I’m betraying Kellan!! But there were so many Jonah feels in this book!!!!!!

Beyond Fate takes place a little bit before, then during, A Matter of Fate. It was so interesting to hear the story in his point of view. I especially loved seeing the whole Twin Connection mind thing between him and Kellan from his point of view! In A Matter of Fate, Chloe just sees them staring at each other. But from Jonah’s POV, we actually get to hear wh I don’t even know where to begin with this review… I feel like I’m betraying Kellan!! But there were so many Jonah feels in this book!!!!!!

Beyond Fate takes place a little bit before, then during, A Matter of Fate. It was so interesting to hear the story in his point of view. I especially loved seeing the whole Twin Connection mind thing between him and Kellan from his point of view! In A Matter of Fate, Chloe just sees them staring at each other. But from Jonah’s POV, we actually get to hear what they say to each other.

We get a better sense of who Jonah is, why he did what he did, and how he felt about the whole situation in A Matter of Fate. It’s eye-opening and mind-blowing, seeing things from his perspective. We also get to know certain people better, such as Astrid, Callie and Jonah and Kellan’s father. Clearly, I dislike their father. I think I stated that in my reviews of A Matter of Fate and A Matter of Heart – he’s so mean to Kellan and Jonah!

Callie is such a complex character, especially in Beyond Fate. We see more of her relationship with Jonah, and I can see where she is coming from better with her feelings and actions, but she got on my nerves a few times. In A Matter of Fate and A Matter of Heart, she’s a bit stronger, more outspoken. She was the opposite in Beyond Fate, but Jonah was breaking her heart, so I guess that makes sense! I still love Callie as a character and love her interaction with Chloe even more.

I’m totally and completely Team Kellan, but I definitely felt for Jonah in this, and seeing things from his eyes, I was better able to understand where he was coming from, and my heart broke for him several times. I just wanted to slap the people who were making him hurt, and hug him like crazy!

Overall, I really enjoyed reading this and seeing the events in A Matter of Fate from Jonah’s POV. I loved seeing the events that led up to A Matter of Fate, as well. I feel like I understand Jonah better, and I feel for him more. I’m still totally Team Kellan, and I can’t wait to read his novella, but I get Jonah more now than I did before. And as always, with all of Heather’s books, I highly, highly recommend this! But DEFINITELY read A Matter of Fate and A Matter of Heart first! It WILL spoil things, otherwise.

Heartbreaking and moving. Getting into Jonah Whitecomb’s heart and mind is an intense and heartfelt experience, which gave me a deeper insight into his motivations, actions and emotions. Fans of the Fate series will love experiencing the most poignant moments through Jonah’s eyes.

Wow, who would have know that a novella could rip out my heart? This one sure did! While I am "Team Kellan", I was excited to read about and get into the head of his sexy twin, Jonah. With the other books, I always believed he was concealing so much of his true self. My heart broke for him, the self doubt and sadness was overwhelming! I wanted to climb in this book and hug him!

So, I’m pre-disposed to like Kellan. Just because his name is Kellan. And that was before reading Matter Of Fate! I loved Matter of Fate, and I absolutely adored Beyond Fate! I’m not usually a fan of books that are the same story from another POV (of course, Walking Disaster was an exception – because let’s be honest. It was Travis Maddox!) but Heather did an amazing job with Beyond Fate. We got to see a completely different side to Jonah, and I loved getting to see through his eyes.

When I first read Heather was going to write novellas in both Jonah and Kellan's POV, I was ecstatic! The Fate series is one of my all-time favorites, so getting inside my boys' heads is something I've been looking forward to! It's no secret that I love both Whitecomb brothers. I've said it before, Heather has created such an intricate love triangle that makes choosing a "team" rather impossible. However, from the get-go, my heart tugs a bit more towards Jonah- I felt so much for him in A Matter When I first read Heather was going to write novellas in both Jonah and Kellan's POV, I was ecstatic! The Fate series is one of my all-time favorites, so getting inside my boys' heads is something I've been looking forward to! It's no secret that I love both Whitecomb brothers. I've said it before, Heather has created such an intricate love triangle that makes choosing a "team" rather impossible. However, from the get-go, my heart tugs a bit more towards Jonah- I felt so much for him in A Matter of Fate and I really just wanted to see him happy. (Granted, I definitely didn't want to see Kellan unhappy, either.) With that being said, after reading both A Matter of Fate and A Matter of Heart, these books have left me in a state of emotional turmoil. I honestly don't know that I've ever felt SO strongly about characters in a book and what happens to them.

I LOVED reading Jonah's POV of some of the events that happened in the first book A Matter of Fate. I especially love that Heather didn't just retell the same story. We got to see the events leading up to the first time the twins met Chloe and we really get to see some of the secondary relationships in a new light.

I knew that the twins and their father weren't close, but gosh. I had no idea just how strained of a relationship it really was. And it broke my heart. To blame your own sons for your wife's death? That's just reaching an all time low. Thankfully, Jonah and Kellan are close to their uncle, as well as their neighbor Astrid. Still, to have your own father resent you.... It takes a toll on the twins, whether they admit it or not. Astrid has always been there for the boys and seeing her interact with them is really heartwarming. Their uncle, Joey, was the one who would take the guys surfing, thus creating a love for the ocean. Surfing is an escape for both Jonah and Kellan, and I really liked seeing the role it played in this novella.

Jonah has been dreaming about Chloe his whole life. Literally. From a young age, the two have been able to communicate via their dreams. He is in love with her and even though he is dating Callie, Chloe is never far from his mind. Finding out she actually exists for real and is his Connection (his soulmate), is a life-changing event for him. She is all he can think about and he will do whatever it takes to find her.

I actually felt bad for Callie. She really was innocent in all of this and still gets hurt by Jonah. She is in love with him, and while he loves her- it doesn't come remotely close to what he feels for Chloe. Seeing Jonah give her a crap excuse for breaking up, I don't blame her for continuing to call him and then eventually show up to see him demanding the truth. I wanted to hate Callie- but that really wouldn't be fair. Jonah knew all along what starting a relationship with her would do- and he decided to go ahead anyway. He hated hurting her- she had been his best friend before they ever became more, and this was not how he wanted things to go down.

After manipulating his father to move them across country to be closer to Chloe, Jonah couldn't be more ready to meet the girl of his dreams. However, things do not fall into place like he planned. Complications with his brother send Jonah spiraling back into his depression. Jonah and Kellan's relationship is probably the one that made my heart hurt the most. They have always shared everything with each other- being Emotionals, they can communicate without speaking, and as twins have that twin Connection that binds them together. However, Chloe is the one thing Jonah never shared with Kellan. He tried to tell him a few times when they were younger, but it wasn't taken seriously. Jonah could have avoided a lot of heartbreak, had he been honest with his twin up front.

However, Jonah wanted one thing to be his own. One thing he shouldn't have to share with anyone. Chloe is HIS dream. I can't imagine what it's like with them. Watching their relationship deteriorate tore at my heart because they are brothers and it's been them against the world for so long.

Jonah is such a complex character who does not open up and wear his feelings on his sleeve. He is filled with so much self doubt and pain- and I just wanted him to be happy!

Gah. My heart hurts again over-thinking and over-analyzing this. I mean it when I say I'm going to need to mentally and emotionally prepare for the third book in the series A Matter of Truth, releasing November 5th. Meanwhile- pick this series up if you haven't already. As much as Heather puts you through the emotional ringer, her writing is beautiful, expressive, and is able to make you connect with her characters on a level I think no other author has. ...more

This novella we get to see A Matter of Fate through Jonah's eyes and a glimpse into his life before moving to California. And damn if my heart wasn't torn into two after reading this. Because when you read this, knowing what Chloe went through, you see that this situation doesn't only affect Chloe, it turns the world ups Heather Lyons weaves this story of not just Chloe and her journey, but also a tale of how love and family and Life can be the most wonderful and frustrating thing in the Worlds. This novella we get to see A Matter of Fate through Jonah's eyes and a glimpse into his life before moving to California. And damn if my heart wasn't torn into two after reading this. Because when you read this, knowing what Chloe went through, you see that this situation doesn't only affect Chloe, it turns the world upside down for many many people. One of these people is Jonah Whitecomb.

"I'm overwhelmed by just how deeply engrained this girl is in my soul. I love her. Gods, I love her more than I've loved anyone else in my entire life. "

Oh Jonah. You fell in love with a girl you only knew in your dreams and seeing how everything played out made my heart swell in the love you feel for Chloe. At first, you didn't let anything stop you from getting to her, that was of course until your (amazing, wonderful, hot, please-just-hold-me) twin brother decided one day to talk to the girl of your dreams. Seeing that scene from Jonah's POV totally made me fist pump for Kellan. Don't Judge. But then I remembered how torn Jonah felt during this and how complicated the situation got. I was again pulled into a story of not only what twin I like better, but suddenly I was overcome with the emotion and knowing, at this point in the story, one of these people was not going to win. One of these characters I had fallen in love with had the potential of not getting a HEA and I didn't know if I could deal with that. I felt like my heart was torn out. Because this love triangle is NOT a case of good/evil or picking the the right guy, it is three amazing people having to make really hard decisions and all I want to do is take these characters and give them a big hug and tell them it's all going to be okay.

"She is my siren, calling me home"

If you only take one thing away from novella, know this, Jonah is fierce in his loyalty for not only his true love, Chloe, but also for his brother. He is aware how hard this is for everyone, showing a quality of selflessness that is admirable. With that said, you also see how he loves Chloe and will fight for her no matter what. He won't give up. In the other books, you saw this from Kellan, maybe one of the reasons I also leaned towards him, but it is not different for Jonah if not even more intense. Jonah just doesn't express himself the same as Kellan, something important to know. And you also see the similar qualities Jonah and Chloe share: guilt. These poor characters carry a lot of quilt and it sucks because it's not anyone's fault, it's what fate has thrown at them. Stupid Fate. I think I should officially be Team Screw Fate.

"Love can inspire such wonderful blissful feelings, and then, once it's gone, the worst emotions possible. Depression, hopelessness, pain...two sides of a coin. And because love is so rare and precious, we risk his without question when ay day the rides could turn."

In short, Jonah's story is a good one. No, it's a GREAT one that gives depth into an already amazing heart filled emotional story. ...more

There were so many times during A Matter of Fate when I questioned what the f*@$ he was doing and why he was doing it. Beyond Fate opened up his mind and gave me those answers I craved.

I have been Team Kellan from the beginning but Beyond Fate definitely opened my mind to Jonah and made him a real contender. It was hard to see him hurting because he really does love Chloe and he causes a lot of turmoil and heartbreak to be with her. My heart broke for him when she started dating Kellan. More than that though, my heart broke for both brothers because this tore them both apart. They were so close and seeing everything from Jonah's eyes showed how truly broken their relationship became. For the first time in their lives, they are shutting each other out and irrevocably damaging a connection that is so rare and fragile. It hurts Jonah to sense Chloe's feelings for Kellan when he knows she feels those same things for him but I think it hurts him even more to be angry and bitter towards his own brother and to feel similar feelings reciprocated back to him.

Beyond Fate gives us the opportunity to know Jonah's feelings as he watches Chloe and Kellan from the sidelines, watches the girl he's loved his whole life kiss his twin brother. Beyond that, this book really digs into the brothers and all of the changes that they both go through because of the connection to Chloe. We get to know Jonah better and have the opportunity for a deeper connection with him as a character. While I understand Jonah better and his reasons for keeping secrets and holding off, I still think he made the wrong decisions and had he opened up to Kellan and been braver with Chloe, all this heartache may have been avoided. But then there wouldn't really be a story and the Fate Series wouldn't be the amazing, emotional heart stopping series that it is.

It’s made me ecstatically happy and extremely angry. And, yet, I still want more. This novella, told in Jonah’s POV, is pure angst, totally heartbreaking and deliciously good!

She made me listen to his inner monologue…she made me experience his heartbreak and his regrets…she showed me his intentions and informed me that there was more to this story than I was originally privy to. And, in the end, she might have (maybe, just maybe) taken a small part of my heart and written Jonah’s name on it.

This novella lets the reader experience the first book in the series through a fresh perspective. But let me put your mind at ease…it doesn’t feel like you are rereading the book at all. It offers new encounters and interactions, explores family relationships more thoroughly, provides insight into what’s going on behind the scenes and shows us Jonah’s true feelings, fears and desires. This is something we didn’t have before and it made the story that much richer for me. It answered some of my more basic questions around Jonah’s decisions and actions. It helped me understand where he was coming from and, in the end, it allowed me to let him into my heart.

The third book in the series, A Matter of Truth, will be released shortly and I can’t wait to see what happens next in this saga. I’m still “Team Kellan” through and through but now I know that I also care about what happens to Jonah. That probably means more stress for me while I read it but I’m definitely looking forward to it…someone pass me some tissues, please. ...more

Beyond Fate is a companion novella for A Matter of Fate, Book One of the Fate Series. I adored that book, and was so excited to pick up Beyond Fate. Beyond Fate is told from Jonah’s Point of View. Beyond Fate nearly completes the story from AMOF as Jonah is a major character in that book. To learn how hurt he had been prior to learning that Chloe was real is practically heartbreaking. Beyond Fate is a companion novella for A Matter of Fate, Book One of the Fate Series. I adored that book, and was so excited to pick up Beyond Fate. Beyond Fate is told from Jonah’s Point of View. Beyond Fate nearly completes the story from AMOF as Jonah is a major character in that book. To learn how hurt he had been prior to learning that Chloe was real is practically heartbreaking. I felt myself wanting to give him a big hug numerous times, to tell him is would be okay. It really made me understand just how desperate he was to find Chloe and move across the country to be with her. His motivations for what everything he does are so much clearer, but that does not mean that I still did not want to yell at him sometimes. I wanted to yell at him in AMOF for not talking to Chloe sooner, and I wanted to again. He really caused so many of his problems by not communicating. Still, he had no idea just what his actions would cause beyond getting to be with Chloe, and watching his reactions to the side effects you know that it's just gut wrenching for him. Again, I just wanted to hug him.

In addition to giving great insight into Jonah as a character, in Beyond Fate, you get to learn new facets of other characters from AMOF including those that Chloe did not interact with nearly as much, particularly Jonah and Kellan’s dad, Astrid, and Callie. I loved seeing them all in this new light, and they became much richer, fuller characters. You also get to see how Jonah views his brother and his actions and that relationship reaches new depths as you witness it being put to the ultimate test. I really wanted to hug Kellan a lot too. So many feels.

If you haven’t read any of the Fate Series I definitely recommend it, starting with A Matter of Fate, and if you have read AMOF you really should pick up Beyond Fate. No matter whether you are Team Jonah or Team Kellan, you will want to read this book to get a fresh take on this series. It was written wonderfully, and I’m glad to know Jonah that much more.

I was soooo excited to be able to read Jonah's POV in Beyond Fate. When I started this series and read A Matter of Fate I really didn't know if I could take all the angst that Heather Lyons puts her characters through. Of course, I dove right in to book 2, A Matter of Heart, and again...*sighs*....completely torn up...

Heather Lyons has written another amazing addition to this series. Beyond Fate is an emotional angsty novella.

What I like about this book is that we get to read and understand more about Jonah. He's the quiet, private and serious twin compare to Kellan. We learned why he kept his earlier relationship with Chloe a secret from Kellan. Some parts of this novella had me laughing out loud and some parts had my heart breaking for Jonah. As soon as I finished Beyond Fate the one word that I kept saying over and over was, WOW! I am so thankful that Heather decided to write a novella from Jonah's POV. This is a MUST read in the series after A Matter of Fate.

Jonah took my heart a squeezed it the whole time I was reading. You can take away some feelings from Jonah in AMOF when Chloe speaks to him or of him. But Beyond Fate opened my eyes to how Jonah was truly feeling, and it just made me cheer harder for him.

Beyond Fate is a mirror into Jonah's soul. Heather has given us a deeper view into Jonah's life and how his decisions affect his relationship with his brother, father, girlfriend and connection. I loved getting to know Jonah better and I can't wait for A Matter of Truth. I've made it no secret that I LOVE this series. It's also true that I usually hate POV's from another character in the same story. However, as usually, Heather Lyon's rocked it. This was a great novella.

I love Jonah and I'm rooting for him! This was an in depth look at his history and how some situations ended up happening. I learned so much about Jonah and even Callie. The characters are just so rich and vibrant, making me fall in love with them.

Anyone invested in this series can tell you almost instantly if they are "Team Jonah" or "Team Kellan". Well, except me. I can't choose. Like Chloe, my love for both of these two runs deep. Beyond Fate gives us a look into Jonah's point of view. We are taken back to A Matter of Fate and all of the moments that brought Chloe and Jonah together ... and brought Chloe and Kellan together. I must admit, that Beyond Fate was really a play by play, yet shortened version of Matter of Fate. There was way more internal dialogue than conversation and interaction with other characters. But, like I said, I like Jonah so I was OK with just getting to know him more and seeing his relationship with his twin, Kellen.

I'm glad I read this novella, but it's not a necessary read for the series, as nothing new happens that didn't already happen in Matter of Fate.

Oh Jonah... I don't know what to say to about him. He has so much built up emotion, it makes my heart break. I really enjoyed getting into his head, because I feel like he's very misunderstood in the first book of the Fate series. We get to see why he never really said anything to Chloe and why he let his brother continue a relationship with her. We also get to see his relationship with Callie, and how heartbroken he is over the death of his Uncle Joey.
