Central America is a region that knows little of peace. Recent civil wars brought a wave of deportees many of whom were gang members who initiated a new set of internal turf wars. El periodismo de la Sala Negra de El Faro debe servir como guía para quienes desean dedicarse a la cobertura de violencia en América Latina. Sin amarillismo, sin alarmismo, sin condescendencia, un acercamiento a los fenómenos sociales atravesados por la violencia y a sus causas desde adentro. Un periodismo que no sólo enuncia, sino que entiende y explica. "Yo, violada", de Roberto Valencia, uno de los relatos del libro, es una de las mejores piezas que se han escrito en este género.

Este libro cuenta esas historias que se dan en los barrios marginales, en las regiones olvidadas y peligrosas a través de toda centroamérica, historias reales, de gente real, con sus respectivos anhelos, tristezas y esperanzas.
