"A stylish thriller that delivers the goods"

What's not to like? The settings and descriptive passages draw you into the bar, the bedroom, or the lion's den. There are plenty of strong characters to enjoy and lashings of intrigue. The pace isn't full-pelt, but it's relentless. The action comes in sudden bursts, often when you least expect it. Impossible to put down.
I was provided with a free copy of this story in return for an honest review by the author. I was glad to oblige; I thoroughly enjoye

I am not normally a huge fan of Mafia-inspired thrillers but when I read the blurb for this book, I had to read it. I am glad that I did read this book because it was good. It was a little slow to start but once I got past the chapter explaining Angel’s background and her relationships, the book picked up steam. And the ending was excellent!!!

Tetterbaum’s Truth is the first book in the Just Call Me Angel series. Angel Martin has become content with her life. She owns a successful pub. She also h

Angel Martin appears at first to be a fairly normal young woman who has a serious obsession with a man who is probably not good for her. Her parents are long dead, and the only living relative she knows of is an old aunt. She owns a bar in Chicago by the name of Tetterbaum’s Pub, one of the nicest pubs in the city.

But Angel finds out that everything in her life has been a lie, and nothing is what it seems. Including, Angel, it appears. For one thing, everyone who appears in the book is a Mafia t

I received a copy of this book and chose to review it without compensation.

Tetterbaum’s Truth is full of surprises, twists and turns, making for an intriguing beginning to this series. Angel Martin, the main protagonist, owns her own pub and is trying to get her life back to normal after her fiancé walks out, but strange things begin to happen after she is involved in a car accident.

All that she thought she knew about her life is a lie, even her name. She discovers some surprising things in her

I received the ARC of this book from Hidden Gems in exchange for an honest review. This is the first book in the series and the first I have read by this author. Honestly had it not been offered by Hidden Gems, I probably would not have found it on my own. It was a great story with lots of twists and turns and I was constantly trying to guess who the heroine could actual trust.
It is the story of Angel Martin, who runs a bar in Chicago and tries to rebuild her life after her fiancé broke up with

I wouldn't have bought this based on the title, but I received a free copy and I am so glad I did. This book has everything I look for in a book: a great story, descriptive writing, interesting characters, a strong female lead, and the Chicago mob. Once I started reading I dropped the rest of my life to finish. Tetterbaum's is a Chicago pub that is very old and has an interesting history. After Tetterbaum dies, Angel gets a smoking deal to buy the pub and begins running it. Through the story, sh ...more

This story is full of suspense that just got better and better. This was a good thriller, with some unexpected twists,

The ending was also not what I expected.

I'll be looking for the next book in this series.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book for Hidden Gems

When I started this blog I never aimed to keep the books I review all one genre, but as you can see I am a huge fan of women’s fiction (or as it is widely known chick-lit! ). I have been lucky to have a huge pile of books to read and review and also some have been sent to me to read on my new Kindle! One of the kindle books that I have been putting aside reading is Tetterbaum’s Truth. I have often been sent murder mystery type books and by the 4-5 chapter I just give up so I have never read one ...more

This book was introduced to me as being similar to Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series. For those not familiar with this ever-growing series, Stephanie is the classic "fish out of water" - she is a gorgeous, unemployed single woman who takes a job as a bounty hunter for a bail bondsman. If she brings them in, she gets paid. But, she's never used a gun. She has no skills to do this job but, in the end, she does so in her own hilarious way.

On the surface, this book does indeed have some simila

This is an awesome story full of secrecy, mystery and drama which starts at the beginning of the story until the very end.It is well written and the story line is awesome where there are many betrayal and mostly a shocking twist to the story.I loved most of the characters and how everyone came together and it had a lot of depth that I don't see in a lot of Mafia novel. They are very believable especially in their situations and their reactions to things are especially believable. I discovered th ...more

I thought this book was very enjoyable. This is a suspenseful mystery with a lot of different layers, you never quite know which way it will go until the very end. I can't say too much, as I want to be very careful to not reveal any spoilers in this book, where nobody ends up being what they seem on the surface. The main character, Angel, is strong and capable and is written very well. I think the characters were very well thought out, written well and interesting. They worked well with the plot ...more

IF you're looking for a great read that will capture from the very first page, then look no further. This is a great drama, suspense, thriller all packed into one.
At first I didn't think I could get into a mafia-style book, but the character development and twists and turns in this story hooked me. Can't wait to continue the series.

A surprisingly intense and suspenseful first in series
I would have passed this up - Ok fine I originally did based on the title and the cover (don't judge I went back and read the blurb) when I was offered a comp copy to read, but something about the blurb grabbed my attention so I backtracked and accepted a copy
I am so glad I did
The plot was perfectly executed (and yes that has so many meanings to it) the characters were larger than life and easy to connect with - the detail was spot on and br
