Clarence is a one-humped camel from Saudi Arabia. He thinks he is the fastest racer in the entire desert and boasts about his qualities to his friends, making them feel awful. I first read this book for myself and then with my son. I have to say I was very impressed. The storyline was easy to follow, the words weren't too difficult for the age group, and it taught you facts and morals as you read. I will definitely suggest this book. It was not too lengthy and reading it with my son, who is almost six, was a delight because he helped in reading the story. The text was big enough that he could easily follow along and use his fingers as he was reading and sounding out ...more

I found the story very intresting! It tries to teach humility through Clarence, a camel who saw himself as the fastest camel in the desert. The storyline was easy to follow and succed it purpose without patronize you. Also you learn a lot things about camels :)

I received this book as part of a GoodReads giveaway.
A quick read for the kids. It is different sort of book than the usual ones for kids. My kids enjoyed it, though the younger one needed some explanations. One good thing it did is made the kids curious about desert conditions, how camels adapted etc.

what a delightful idea for a series of children's books. Clarence the Camel is a delightful character, one most children would like to have as a friend. In addition to a fast moving story set in a setting very different from the one in which our readers live, Clarence teaches a universal lesson without being preachy. Check out this book and others in the series.

Very sweet story. Some British vocabulary may be a problem for young children reading on their own, but I am suggesting it to teachers to share with their classes. The lesson is not at all heavy handed but good discussion material. Or just a pleasant story!

I enjoyed reading the story with my kids. The printing was easy for them to understand, the story outline is good and we learned about camels in a fun way.
