Read this for a magazine writing class. Despite the fact that it's a bit aged, Harrison really sems to acknowledge the idea that people need to learn to freelance and that getting a fancy magazine editorship is basically a pipe dream. Expensive, but a pretty good look into journalism and how to shape your articles towards specific sorts of publication. Also has some important bits about cover letters which is something that seems to draw a lot of conflicting opinions among writers.
